Hey guys.... I am in the middle of firming up a shopping list at DIYAutoTune, and I think I have that end covered, basically going the easy route and spending a few more dollars for new stuff so I don't have to hassle with Ebay. I was going to play with a 4 Cylinder swap.. but due to budget and time constraints, not to mention the desire to get going on my project, I am going to MegaSquirt my existing SBC with stock TPI fuel and ignition. I already bought an EDIS set of parts, but am thinking about using a different coilpack so I can easily obtain spark plug wires. I found this on Ebay: http://tinyurl.com/Durango-coilpack Anyone have any idea if these would work, perhaps as a pair using two banks? Also, while it is certainly not a concern with the current engine, what EDIS module would I be looking for to raise the RPM threshold above 6600? Or, should I be looking at one of the other flavors of DIS for the higher limit? I do intend to get away from the current engine as soon as possible, and I will probably want/need a limit in the 7000 to 8000 RPM range. While I am at it, see any thing in my list you might want to comment on or share advice on, seeing it is for a 1987 Camaro TPI setup? 405.00 MS II v3.57 88.00 MS Relay Board 70.00 MS Relay cable 5.50 MS Tune Cable 40.00 MS wiring bundle 6.50 MS TPS connector (GM) 22.00 MS 8-Pin HEI Module Pigtail (GM) 46.00 MS FI connector-Bosch 8.50 MS Shielded 20Gg 10' 289.00 LC-1 and G3 Analog gauge Thanks, tannji

I enjoyed the movie quite a bit... and I went in a little skeptical... I appreciate Heath Ledger and have ever since the Patriot. I have a soft spot in my heart for Jack Nicholson's Joker, I consider THAT to be one of the best hero/villain roles of all time. Ledger was spot on, and to my surprise, did his own interpretation that rivaled Nicholson's without diminishing it. Unfortunately... the rest of the movie, while decent, was not to the same standards. I suppose you can only twist a hero flick so many different ways, but I hoped for more. Still and all, I will probably buy this one, and watch it to enjoy Ledger and mourn what could have been.

On second thought, there is a delay after registering for an admin to vet you, I imagine I cant see the link because I have not been vetted yet, just registered.

Odd... I was and am logged in there... no worky. Still says: Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information. The error returned was: Sorry, the link that brought you to this page seems to be out of date or broken." Could you tell where in the forum the link is? or thread title? I will search for it.

I was reading a Toyota MS guide and found this quote, hope it helps: "(Note that you can substitute a TIP120 in place of the VB921/BIP373 for switching the signal, it is much cheaper - ~75¢ compared to $6.00 - and more commonly available. Don't use a TIP120 for direct coil control, of course, it doesn't have the voltage or current protections.)" I see Radio Shack carries the TIP120 NPN-D Transistor for $1.59. http://www.radioshack.com/sm-tip120-npn-d-transistor--pi-2062617.html I don't have MS yet, but let us know if this works, assuming you haven't ordered the BIP373's yet.

Did you cut that manifold in-place... on the car?

Many happy returns, Mike = )

At first glance, your list looks good, but it appears that your motherboard uses DDR ram with 184 pins... and you are buying DDR2 ram, with 240 pins. You should confirm that before going any further. I also would look into the exact dimensions of your current power supply, and compare them to the new one. Some OEM computers have non-standard dimensions and mounting, which is a nasty little ploy to insure you buy new hardware from them, at their pricing. Good luck!

I wasn't touching it... = )

I got 2 filters and 1 new Shop Vac... to replace the one I burnt out during this week-end's flash flood. (Iowa) We were actually cleaning up the basement last night, removing carpet and mopping when someone actually remembered it was fathers day. Could have been better, but the headlines also point out how much worse it also could have been. 6 inches in a 3 hour span over whelmed the basement, but I'll take it, considering.

I have an old sender in the garage I could take pics of if you need more detail... but I did go take a look at it, when I saw you wanted to reverse the out-put. Looks doable, but a little dicey. the float runs a contact across a wound resistor wire, which is wound around a plate. This plate is mounted in place by a hole at each end, through which a nub protrudes. This nub is split into a "V" at its end, which secures it in the hole. Looks to be possible to force the plate off and carefully spin it and remount it. This would put high resistance at the full position, instead of at the low fuel position. The wound wire coming off the plate is very delicate, and would be easily broken when moving the plate. Hope this helps, let me know if you want some close-ups of the area in question. tannji

What's everyone doing for the memorial day weekend?
tannji replied to dr_hunt's topic in Non Tech Board
I was supposed to be vising Mom in Aztec, NM.... but the GF's ex managed to saddle us with a $25,000 tax debt from the period when they were still married. He is now back home in Syria and we are recovering from a month where the government decided we could afford living in spite of a $6000 pay cut per month. Plans for the weekend now consist of a BBQ and bonfire, and doing the string layout for a large deck addition to the house. Could be worse, and I am grateful it is not. Like many, my thoughts will also be with Veterans of past and present. -
I don't clearly remember removing a tranny from a ZX... but I did it many times on 240's and 280's. As the non-turbo trannys were compatible, I would think it would be the same. On the S30, I was able to get the bolts loose and out with a box wrench. (from above) It was tight, and the angle was a little more acute than most wrenches have normally, but after the 3rd removal in one day, I bent the wrench in a vise to follow the bend better. I was fortunate to have a crew of "Z-buddies", so normally we would tag team it from above and below. The day I did it three times, I was solo... installing my first CenterForce clutch, which was so stiff I was convinced I had something wrong. A buddy with a little more experience came over, started it up, and drove off, to my complete shame. = ) PS: On other vehicles I have had to loosen or unbolt the motor mounts, and tilt motor and tranny down in the rear to gain access to the bolts, then level to pull off the tranny. I don't remember if you have the clearance between fan and radiator to do this though.

I have noticed that HBZ is unavailable or really slow frequently of late, at and at work... only site I notice it on.

Without much description of the type of trouble you are having... I usually use a hair dryer or heat gun in similar situations, makes the panel more flexible with less cracking.

6th car down in that link.... is that a slide-throttle set-up, or just a poor quality photo? Would love to see more pics of that!

I am in the QC, which I suppose is northern, or northeastern. Live across the river in Davenport though.

Personally, I have always hated the knee-jerk reaction of some to call an exterminator to destroy a segment of the local ecology... and people who have to stomp on every spider or ant they see annoy me as well. I am usually the one that will capture and relocate whenever possible. I have done this with black widows as well. When I still lived in Colorado I had a Black Widow get into a shoe and bite me. The bit was in the morning, and I tried to ignore it most of the day, but by late afternoon I was at the hospital getting shots of valium and saline. Took about 4 hours of misery and drugs to recover. I am significantly less tolerant of venomous spiders now, especially when it may concern the kids. I dont know how practical it will be to get rid of the Brown Widows... but I would be looking into my options and especially so in the house. I wouldn't care to go though another widow experience.

Do a quick search of the forum... this has been covered a lot of times in pretty good detail over the years. come back to this post if you still have any questions. = ) (once you have read what has already been said, let us know what you learned, and based on budget, intended use, etc... what you are leaning towards.)

Mozilla has problems with memory leaks... not much you can do other than to close Mozilla, make sure Mozilla and any dependent processes are killed in Task manager, and possibly resort to restarting the computer. This should be resolved with the the release of v3.0, coming soon. One way of troubleshooting it would be to run IE or Opera for a few days and see if the problem is actually specific to Mozilla.

Where is the "cosmetic" console lid? -
Food, treats, and petting!! Great place to start! You have something she wants, now start using them as rewards for desired behavior! Some trainers use a little trick to start their dog along the path of paying attention during obedience work.... keep the next treat between your lips. If the treat comes from your face, and listening to your face gets them a treat... ever hear of Pavlov's dog? = )

I have no idea how much training experience you have with dogs.... but I would not actually begin Agility training until the Obedience training is fairly far along. The nature of the Agility trials and training means that your dog needs to understand and practice complete focus on the handler (you) and do this not only willingly, but enthusiastically. The best and possibly only time to instill this focus or attentiveness is while they are learning obedience, and some dogs, to be honest, are capable of obedience championships, but failing at focusing for an extended amount of time on their handler. You can see what I am talking about when you watch your next event. The dog is almost always watching the handler, to the point where they only look away briefly to see where to go. Advanced dogs may spend less time looking at the handler as they learn to anticipate the end of one obstacle as the point to take their cue from the handler for their next direction. Border Collies are potentially very good agility dogs, as are many others in the working dog class. Small Terriers, Belgians, Shelties, basically high energy, high intelligence dogs are what you are looking for. Extremes in size are avoided generally. I haven't built obstacles in a long time, and didn't generally work from a plan, but I am sure that there are special interest site out there that would have plans available. Generally, once your dog is advanced enough to participate in a trial, you don't really follow a diagram for a course lay-out. Part of the challenge is demonstrating your dog's ability to take their cue from you as to where to go next. If the dog thinks they already know, you run the risk of losing points to errors, and this goes both ways! I feel bad, but it can be funny watching a handler who just realized they sent their dog the wrong way.... = ) As corny as it may sound, the key to the entire experience is having fun with the dog. If the dog is eager to please, and learns that you like running around as much as they do, the sky is the limit. If it is just an exercise to be graded for you, it will lose it's luster for the dog as well. Good luck to you and your dog!
