Anybody eles notice that most of the car mags are full of useless info? I bought one last night because it said " Body and Paint Basics" Well the article was pretty basic alright. So basic that even my wife knew more than what it offered. Then I started thinking about all the other car mags I have bought. I might see a cool car on the cover but when you get to the article all it has is " This is a (insert make model) it belongs to (blah blah blah) they take it crusing on weekends , it used to be a grocery getter, blah blah, whatever!! Although this car has been tubbed, has twin turbos, subframe connectors, custom body work...rarely do they ever talk about it. One of my mags has a "10 Best Bolt Ons" article. Obviously these 10 companies are sponsors because they dont even mention how much HP you might gain, or any other advantages. They are just the best because they say they are the best!! It is like those simpleton car shows on the DIY Network where the guy pretends to work on a car for 10 seconds then has a 20 minute "best new products section"!! Whew!! OK I'm done. Thanks for listening guys!! Much better (and cheaper) than seeing a shrink!!!

I have that same bellhousing. Not quite as clean though!!

So I went to put my engine on my stand when I realized my brother has it with my old 360 mounted to it. So I tried making a temporary one out of a dolly and a couple of old tires. After about an hour of messing around with it I turned around and thought "Man I think its gonna tip over!" So as I tried to wheel my lift over to it ( Casters are SHOT) I bumped the tire and .....there she goes!! Oil & coolant everywhere!! Disgusted I left it laying on its side. Does anybody think it will hurt it? I covered it up like a dead dog and went home. I would rather not touch it again until I go to paint it and reinstall. Unless I find a bag of money somewhere so I can buy my LS1!!!

Advanced Auto idiot: (Does his computer thing goes in the back) What do you know we have a bunch of those. Evil: Thats nice but you just gave me the same caliper... I WANT THE RIGHT HAND SIDE!!! What am I going to do with 2 left ones? ( I know what I wanted to do with them!!)

It was nice to have the title of GURU but as Drax said...at least we are all still members!!!

Does anybody know the difference in rear suspension width from a 280z to a 300zx? Center of tire to center of tire? I have gotten some mixed answers with my searches. Thanks, Rufus

Konig!!!! I want those as well but they don't make them wide enough for my new 1/4's and fenders. Instead I will probably go with HRE wheels, similar in styling to the Konigs you linked to.

Phantom, If you purchased one of those do you think it would be cheaper to pick up a Tremec tranny as opposed to a T56? The lowest I have seen a T56 for was $1500. Could you even use another tranny easily? The ECU is programmed for the 4L60E right? What would be involved with using a manual tranny? Thanks, Rufus

Not hard at all I am doing the same thing. The hardest part is finding a good set of 240 signals. Otherwise you already know what to do. Rufus

Very Cool!! After all the speculation and conversation all it need was a little love from a good wench...I mean wrench!!! Glad to hear it was not bad. Does your block still have the dowels used to line up the head? If so it would be REALLY hard to not put the gasket on straight as it usually slides over the same dowels for alignment as well. Hmmm.....

I know there are a couple of methods. One is to bond the new 1/4's to the originals. Another is to use a fastener. I am wondering first what is the name of these fateners ( begins with an F) and where can I get them. I am also wondering which method of attching them is prefferd. I know you guys are full of...opinions so lets hear some. Thanks, Rufus

Love those wheels Bill!!! I posted this question on the new site in this thread but it is not showing up here so I will ask again. Anybody using HRE wheels? Their site is pretty vague as to the pricing. When prices are displayed for new wheels it is usually for a set of 4 right?

What is the most I should pay for one? I know if I was to do the Q45 swap it is going to cost me at least 1k. Probably more. A quafie is closer to 2k after you factor in the CV adapters and newer axles. So I was thinking if I could get one of these for $700 I would be doing good. Waddaya think? Rufus

yea I was stumped as well. I just sent a couple of emails back and forth with Dan. I guess he has taken down the new site for now because he is working on it. So it's out with the new and back to the old ...for now anyway!!
