  1. So the problem only happens when you go to read or send a PM? Sorry I can't help you. I have not run into that problem myself. I just thought maybe you were accidentally opening a new browser session. It does sound like it is a problem on your end and maybe only a few others as I have not seen any similar posts. Good Luck!!
  2. When you return do you use the back button or do you open a new IE window? If you just use the back button you should not have a problem.
  3. So Cal!!! You need to end every sentance with mang chew got it mang?
  4. Kind of an off-topic question for you guys. I just pulled my front harness out of my 280. I will be installing a LS1 when the time comes. My question is besides the headlight pigtal portion of the harness, what do I need to keep? Thanks!
  5. Same as with plywood. It is cheaper to buy high grade plywood than CDX right now. Everthing is being bought and shipped to Iraq!!! We bust it..we build it..we pay for it!!!
  6. I was going to say the same thing! It is a strong person that can set aside anger to see the positive side. I wish I had the same charecteristics! I am very happy things are working out. Hopefully if it is the right person he still has some of your belongings. Good Luck!! Rufus
  7. So who would be interested in a Pantera group buy? Maybe if we send 280zone a case of canadian beer he will help us out with shipping?
  8. Looks great Mike. What is the silver paint you are using underneath? The Sterling Silver POR-15 or something eles?
  9. I know...I know..I know..(types with black hands...) EDIT...sandpaper huh?...I shall try!!!
  10. I was suggesting it just as a cleaner not to remove paint. Have you ever looked under the hood after driving in the rain? Pretty much everything gets wet. Obviously you would not directly spray electrical components, I was talking about the firewall, wheel housing etc..
  11. I know what you mean...I justify working on my car by telling myself to spend spend spend!!! I have enough for both of us to do so if you get depressed again........ Just leave the Viagra at home!!!
  12. Without pulling all the engine bay components there is nothing you can do. Even if you tried to strip the paint behind the components you would have a mess. You could try a good steam cleaning, wipe as much stuff away with a rag as possible then get some clearcoat in a can and have at it!!! I think the cleaning by itself would work well though!!
  13. "Me and my campaign bring a new meaning to the word Prop-aganda!!"
  14. I have a cheap auto darkening hemut from Harbor Freight. I currentl have it set at 11. Maybe I should step it up? I definately notice a big difference once again between my buddies nice auto and this chep one. Even in slight cold it acts funny. Does not darken quick enough. I had to remove the protective outer plastic (sheilds the lens from splatter my buddies is sealed glass) because moisture would collect between the lens and the protector. Now the lens has all kinds of burns from splatter. Life lesson...cheap tools = poor function and greater risk of injury. I actually knew this but now it has been re-enforced!!
  15. It's nice when things work out for a change!!! Happy for ya!!
  16. Thanks for the help guys...alot of useful info. I will try a coupleof the suggestions like thinnerwire. The hobbart page answered a question I had about stick out length. Unfortunately all my $$$ is tied up in parts so I wont be getting the miller welder I want. I will have to "stick" with the $150 jobber I borrowed. John you brought up a very interesting point. I noticed I have been having trouble seeing what I am doing as in the actual weld pool. I have been trying but have bee basically going by feel. I wondered why when I used my buddies gas welder I could see so much better. It makes sense now. The flux burning off makes it difficult to see. The only voltage control is max and min. Originally I had it set on min but found that I get a much better weld and less splatter on the max setting. It didn't seem to effect the burn through much either. I was thinking about trying some sort of heat sink but these patches are sealed from the back side so no luck. Thanks again guys!!
  17. Unfortunately the welder I am borrowing is not set up for gas. I don't think the Argon reduces temp though. I am pretty sure it's only intention is to blow away impurities. I have used both types of welders and definately prefer the gas type. My buddy ( a welder) told me that flux core welding is actually stronger.
  18. I have been doing some patch work using mig welding, flux core wire. My problem is with burn thru or blow thru. If I am using a slightly higher gage sheet, patching to the original on the car, unless the mating surface is exactly right the original, lighter sheet wants to burn thru. I know set up is key. Everthing must be clean etc, no gaps if possible. Unfortunately these patches are on the unibody at the point wher ethe lower fender bolts go. These patches have several bends and to make a patch with no gaps is extremely difficult. I got one side done but was wondering if anyone had any techniques they use when doing similar welding. Thanks!!
  19. I thought that was a PDK dash!!! It came with all the gages as well? Very Cool!! Me Want...Me Want Bad!!!
  20. Thanks Guys!! There were some valid comments, appreciated. Yea I know I probably wont make my deadline...but I am going to try. I am currently just doing body and fab stuff right now. The car is only a shell and on a rottiserie. The engine will be the last thing I purchase...saving the biggest items like wheels and tires for last as well. Driving in primer may be an option but I would rather not if I can avoid it. Thanks again!! Rufus
  21. Well when I decided to go all the way with my project I never looked at the entire picture concerning overall cost. I was between just tossing some parts on my OK Z and calling it done. Instead I decided to do all the things I want to do. Not necessarily the best of the best but nice enough stuff that if / when I show my car I can be proud of each part. I see all kinds of stories on here about time spent etc... But what about the cash!?!?! Wow!! I just did a spread sheet of all the items I need to buy in order to get to the level I want to be at. Does 20k sound about right?!? I have only invested 2K so far and by the end of next month will have 5k into it. I was hoping someone could tell me something to get my mind off the fact that I feel like I am being greddy by spending money on my car instead of on my house, wife, kids, etc... I take good care of all of those things and have justified time / money spent on the Z as "me" time but dam....I don't know.... If this was planned to be a long term project then I could see no problems, but I want to drive this pig next summer...guess we will see how it turns out.
  22. When I first started visiting online car forums I didn't get the whole Rice thing...Now I think I understand... RICE?
  23. I'm thinking more along the lines of something like this. This one is only 8 gal though. EDIT: Tim for the cell you used...did you drop it into the spare wheel well like this one? Did you just set it in the back? I am going to check out your site to see if you have any type of write up on the install...I guess I will do some searching as well... 'sigh'
