  1. a 96 infinity trans would be on a car with obd2 emissions-mucho electronics needed i would guess.some kind of laptop programmable control would be the best bet.later trans have all kinds of computor controlled parts-like line pressures,torque convertor lock-up,many solonoids on valve body,turbine shaft speed sensors,fluid temp sensor.some trans use the od to split ratios -that is how some late model cars are getting 5 to 8 gears out of auto trans.since i used to work on fords i now some of the fords you can feel 5 or 6 shifts becuse of computor controlled shifting.
  2. the small ends are bushed for floating piston pins?can you get new bushings for the rods?
  3. i have run magnacor wires for years-good stuff.on my z the #6 wire has the 90 boot on it.you can still get the original wire looms from nissan.if you support the wires and keep the clean they will last a long time.
  4. i have 2.2 ms&s with innovate wide band-i just filled in my ve table values on laptop and the ms runs off the wide band.i used moby's program to get car running.my car uses a cherry hall effect sensor on the flywheel for rpm feed and runs a 81 zxt dizzy and 81 coil/transistor.the ms fires the stock coil.there are magnets drilled and glued into the flywheel.there is a lot of ways to get things done-thats what makes old z's better-you have to fab things yourself.
  5. the pick&pulls had a 1/2 off weekend-get a 472-why not more cubes for same weight.or a 500.there is a shop the builds caddy speed parts but i dont know the name right know-try google.i would find out what the best cylinder head casting # are buy a 472 with good heads-i think 500 had low compression heads.
  6. i have a 2002 yamaha fz1-i really like it.after an ivan's carb kit and a slip-on yosh pipe it dynoed at 130hp.also a 1 tooth smaller front sprocket.seems like the most hp,suspension,brakes for the money.

  8. mine is on the bulkhead behind drivers seat.the ms is on passenger side on same bulkhead.since my battery is a gel cell in spare tire well wiring is short except for sensors.i wanted car to be as water proof as a well engineered factory car.my car is a daily driver.
  9. i have version 2.2 board and that relay is the fidle relay.on version 2.2 you use the fidle circuit for either fidle control or spark control.since i use mine for spark the relay is removed and a jumper and pull-up resistor are in the relay sockit.is relay pulling in in relation to engine speed?like the relay clicking changes with rpms?the output also has to be configured on initial set-up with the software.my fidle circuit output wire goes directly to yellow wire on zxt power transistor /coil brackit.
  10. if it is running correctly no problem.the problem is doing that with combination of old datsun parts.if they are not picky about WHAT is on the car it would be easier with a well tuned aftermarkit efi running closed loop wide band o2 and a cat convertor.my megasquirt is running closed loop with innovate motorsports wide band and it does exactly what i tell it to do.
  11. while surfing websites the monitor just goes black just after switching to a new site or new webpage.computor has to be restarted from switch on front.some sites do this more than others.hybrid z is ok.the computor does it more when cold.i will have to restart 3 or 4 time then it will be ok for 2 or 3 hours then when i go to a site with pictures or video it goes out.i have tried many monitors -its the same.my neighbor the i.t. guy says its the websites i go on.i say the computor should run no matter what.
  12. somewhere i heard about that crane falling over.but when your time is up-its up.i should be dead by now but somebody wants me to continue working on this earth to pay for all the fun i have had.-as far as what i post on the internet-i wont post anything i wouldnt say to somebody in person.on the internet you are what you write-or type.if you cant post something that comes across in a positive light dont post it.
  13. when you start welding old rusty metal it blows away-you could probably find a better head pipe at pick&pull.pulling the exhaust manifold was a hard way to get a 30 minute job done.get the exhaust manifold surfaced at a machine shop-it warps after you unbolt it.
  14. my guess is 1 water pump and 1 oil pump.i notice no front crank pulley but a mount on front of motor that would be easy to build a brackit for.not much bottem end torque.runs on methanol.
  15. machine shops usually have lots of valve stem seals laying around.take the head down there and try some out .l28 guys are using 2.9l ford ranger seals on thier engines.
  16. most of these kit cars are around 1000 lbs .it takes torque to move weight.an early 240 is about 2200 lbs.there is a local guy with a lotus 7 replica with a honda s2000 powertrain in it.gossip has it that car will run 0-60 in under 4 seconds.early light 240 would work good with nissan sr20det or honda s2000 engine.my 77 with 82 turbo engine and a/c weighs 2650.
  17. mine is for sale.here is the deal-i have been working as a tech at ford dealers for 23 years.i am to the point in my life where i dont want to work on anything anymore.so if any body wants to buy a california no rust 77 z with 82 turbo engine,megasquirt,intercooler,working a/c,ground control suspension,track tires,+ trailer for track days pm me.car needs paint but i have all new nissan oem weather stripping in orginal bags car is daily driver.
  18. you will have just as many hassles with old nissan stuff and trying to find somebody to reburn it for mods as you will installing a stand-alone efi system.these projects always add up to way more than you thought in the end.
  19. on some cars like z's you have to goto thier catalog and buy pieces to make your own kit.a new style compressor would use less engine hp.i am lucky the stock 77 a/c works in my car -but i had to put an evaporator core in it when i got it.stock 77 a/c is on a 1982 turbo motor.you can run r134 through old compressor if you flush the old r12 oil out.
  20. i rebuilt an engine in a lotus 7 for a friend and i was test driving it on the freeway-it would fit but i am not game for these type of stunts.
  21. i used my stimulator to practice with ms software before my car was built.if you think something is wrong with you ms the stim will bench test the ms right on your desk while connected to your computor.
  22. i just put updated cop coils on my mercury 300hp outboard because merc came out with updated coils.coils have 4 wire gm style weatherpack connector and short 6" plug wire.coils have 4 pins-i would suspect the power transistor to be built into the coil.since this is a 2 stroke the coils fire every time at tdc-would be like turning a 4 stroke at 12,000 rpm.i would guess that the 4 pins are +12v,battery ground,computor + and -.
  23. pull the drain plug and dump about 2 gallons of solvent down the timing cover and try to wash it out.
