  1. Don't forget that there are more options for swap kits on the s30 chassis. If you are building you swap from scratch that doesn't factor.
  2. This blows. Sorry t hear about the trouble, but glad it wasn't any worse than it was. Your car is in my top 5 hybridz builds and I would have mourned to see anything happen.
  3. Ok it's official, I HAVE to get my wife to drive my z around. That is just awesome
  4. We need to know if you are talking about the engine mount space or the crossmember spacer. There are several guys not using the crossmember space at all.
  5. This was great to see. I've always enjoyed my fwd cars, but always been told they are not true sports cars, rwd will always perform better. My little civic SI sedan is a blast to drive, maybe retire it to racer status a few years from now.
  6. I am pretty sure this is the new poster child for hybridz v8 swap.
  7. Don't buy cooper's. Please go buy some firestones. Show me a mass production company that doesn't have recalls when they are making millions of units a year. At least the recalled. How do you know your tire specifically was effected by the recall. How do you know the seperation wasn't due to something the previous owner did? I think you're a little premature by being so negative towards cooper tires just because they had a recall on some tires. P.S. I will not deny my obvious bias, but my family has obviously put nothing but coopers on all our cars, run them into the ground and never had a tire problem.
  8. It does and can happen. My dad works for cooper tire and rubber and has seen this a couple of times. There are any number of factors that can cause sepeartion and bulging between different layers. I know he has mentioned curing a couple of times. Maybe we have some tire builders that could speak to it. Obviously running a tire faster than it is rated cause cause seperation but I doubt that would be the case with a performance bike tire.
  9. So my wire is a black wire with white stripe. It is the positive feed that pairs with the ingition relay and switch in the body harness. It should have led to the positive terminal of your coil on your 260z. Hope that helped.
  10. Hey harrison, you should download the FSM and find your wiring diagram. Google 260z wiring diagram and see if you can download one. I had to do this because the '78 is unique to the year. I have since spent hours with it blown up on my 46" television going through my engine harness to modify it for the v8 swap I'm doing. I don't remember which one specifically on the 280 harness that I singled out for the HEI connection you are referring to though. When I get home I will try to remember to check it and post.
  11. Christine, on my '78( which I have to assume is the model you have because 79 was first year for zx model) there are flasher relays that I would check first. If you don't have a blown fuse then the next thing I would check would be for a bad flasher relay. The first time my headlights wouldn't work this was the problem. My turn signals quit working again, but instead of fixing it I just yanked the engine and transmission and entire engine harness and started modifying for a v8.
  12. If the offer is to tow the car off for free then do it! You can at least sell me the front bumper for some dollars even if the car isn't within your scope of saving. I would probably buy the cargo compartment lids, front fender badges, and driver mirror from you as well if the price was right. My point is there are most likely salvageable parts you could make some money off of. That is to say if it's a free tow away.
  13. There is a thread on modifications to do to the shell/chassis to improve stiffness that you should search for. The entire chassis could benefit from stitch welding where panels overlap and are spot welded. The problem you run into is that any of those seams should be blasted and seam sealer removed before welding which is a monumental task from what I've read(I haven't actually performed this myself). I didn't see that my car would benefit from this seeing as I do not plan on any heavy racing.
  14. Props for the work. The convertibles in general aren't my cup of tea but it looks like good progress.
  15. I actually kinda dig those wheels. Best of luck this time round.
  16. If we're actually talking about spot welding here, I don't understand how that's going to help the 240. Maybe someone can clue me in.
  17. You might want to search a little more. Not sure if you're talking about seam welding but that is what it sounds like. To properly seam weld it takes quite a bit of work, and I'm not sure that it is something I would want to undertake unless I had a completely stripped shell on a rotisserie. As far as the equipment, I am still learning about what is acceptable for welds and what is not, but for something like unibody seam welding I would want at least a gas shielded mig welder. Again, the search button is very helpful on this forum. If you search the chassis subforum for seam welding you will get plenty of info.
  18. Saw a couple of options today, early model rav4, and possible geo tracker. Going to look into it
  19. Okay decided I wanted to try using the excel sidemarkers right now instead of welding and shaving. Have tried in all the places I could think of, rockauto/carparts.com, including hyundai dealership and can't find the sidemarkers. Anyone know where to get a pair or what other sidemarker would work similarly? I don't have any close pull-a-parts unfortunately, and the only ones that are decently close pitch any cars older than 2000(darn dallas!)
  20. I have never been fond of ANY of the VW v8 conversions. I suppose I can muster some appreciation for the work but the conversions never seem to look right to me. I'll take a type IV conversion stroker with or without turbo and call it a day. But a suprcharge lq9 in a ghia is an impressive feat.
  21. I believe member Bjhines has that spoiler on his 240. His is one of my favorite builds at the moment. Might give his thread a look, if not only to enjoy his awesome car.
  22. ^ This is one of the things I absolutely love about this forum. I have yet to find anyone that is what you might consider "arrogant" or "proud." Some incredible minds that do beyond incredible work but aren't full of themselves.
  23. Sunroof = nasty , but other than that like stated above it is probably going to depend on what the shell is like integrity wise. If it had much rust at all I would consider scrapping it and finding a better non-modified shell.
  24. That's very sad to hear Tony. I can only imagine with things like that going on he might be a little hazy on a few points. Hell, I'm giving credit to ANYBODY over age 60 that has knowledge of a skyline or Datsun. Most of the older guys I get to hang around came from a generation that was fairly closed-minded and very american car focused. They may give a little "credit" to foreign imports but not enough to make out models.
