  1. I would have no problem pulling up to a corvette or srt8 and dropping the hammer. Love to suprise 'em!
  2. Excellent, I appreciate the post. For some reason I was drawing a blank here.
  3. Unless it's a carb'd swap and has no ignition module? Just wiring straight to the HEI
  4. Yeah, this may be a moment of stupidity, but when I first started pulling stuff I threw out the ignition box that mounts in the passenger footwell. Not sure why. Am I actually going to need that when I start wiring up? The JTR manual states you only need to wires going into the box, but does that mean you need the box to be there and plugged in? If so, anyone got a spare?
  5. So I thought I had scored when I bought 2gauge inverter cable(8 ft) for 35 bucks at harbor freight, but failed to read the tag that said 300amp max. Now I know we do not run a constant amperage this high, but I new that the batteries are capable of higher than this to crank and start accessories initially. I just wanted to check to make sure this was a kosher route to go. I'm still learning on the electrical side of things.
  6. Surprisingly, I kind of like your solution too Leon
  7. Lol, a little of both Kevin. I am going to have to paint the rear panel anyways as I had to cut that stupid duck bill off. have to fill that a bit and paint over. I do actually think the mustang reverse lights will look good, and like I said, just can't summon up the cajones to weld on it yet.
  8. Correct, wasn't planning on wiring them up to the datsun reverse lights, but after seeing them I might.
  9. So I have been mulling over ideas on how to cover/dress up the holes left over from the bumper shocks on my 280. Obviously most people prefer to weld them shut, but I am trying to figure out how to avoid welding, both because I am still novice, and because I want to leave the hole available in case I sell it and future person wants to return it to stock(heaven forbid). My brother has a 65 mustang and while replacing gas tank one day saw the reverse light housings. Took forever to get around to it but this past weekend was at the pull apart for a 2speed taurus fan. I looked down the row as I was leaving and saw a 67. Pulled the housings for 20 bucks and I think I have a winner. The hole will need to be widened about 2-3mm at the top half of the hole in the valance but that's it. drill a couple of small holes for the bolts(bumper would hide these if put back on). I think this will look really good, especially with early 240 bumper mounted above. Will post pictures once I get around to finishing this part.
  10. He is talking about the stock datsun electric fuel pump. I have been over this with them in several posts. The stock datsun efi fuel pump will flow quite a bit of fuel at lower psi. You just have to make sure you have a quality fpr that will regulate the 35psi down to 4.5-5.5 or whatever your carb likes.
  11. Do the car and the rest of us a favor and ditch that sunroof fast!
  12. Nope, there was a member from anchorage I believe that had s/s rims on his datsun. I loved it. Great old school look. In my opinion you need to run a little more tire on it with a 15" wheel to look right.
  13. Just as an echo, to gve any decent reply we would need an asking price and optimally some photos. I would say that if therust repair was done properly and the othe areas truly are without significant rust, and if it runs and drives it woud be worth 2-3. Depends on availablity in your area, but if you're talking any more than 3 it may be worth it to findone elsewhere and ship it.
  14. Sticky had big talk. I took my car to him under the impression that he coul weld and was going to repair my battery tray and beef up my frame rails giving him my entire running l28e w/ 5 speed. He botchedmy battery tray area so bad it cost me 1100 for someone else to fix his botched job including the exta cash I payed him. I didn't let him touch my rails and he was getting his pants in a wad cause he thought he was going to get paid for that. Not to mention the entire time he kept increasing his charge on the job. He welded over the rusty firewall and left holes and gaps, not to mentioned used MY shielding bottle, used it up, didn't refill and finished the job with crappy flux welding. I let him pull the engine, told him he could have the engine and trans only, I wanted my sensors and what not. He took them all and my battery cables. With all of that said, I don't think he would screw someone on the pulley deal, but people can be poopie. I haven't had any dealings with him since last summer
  15. I've talked to him, and I don't have any reason to think he would shaft you in this manner. I would on the other hand believe it may take more time. I would save any correspondence that you have had though.
  16. That post burn pic is painful, Looks like decent progress though. Can't wait to see more.
  17. My first thought was similar to cygnus'. Once the turbo is in and those ball bearings have warm oil flowing over them I bet they will move MUCH more freely
  18. I know. I just started to put together a list of all the "little" stuff that I don't have already and it's longer than I thought it was. I am hoping to try and fire up by end of august, but more realistically it will be september or october, especially since classes start back up soon. You can bet there will be video of the first fire. I've been dreaming of this project for at least 10 years. Thanks again for all the support.
  19. Thanks guys. I love my painters/duck tape, I put it everywhere. Turbo the headers are actually ebay headers, bought them from a member here that was going ls1. I love the valve covers. When I take them off to adjust valves I am going to polish them up. To be honest I am not sure if they a repos or originals. There is a casting flash on one, but I saw a set at the good guys swap meet that was claiming to be original that had the casting flash as well. Either way they are fun. Next up is fuel system. Running new lines and setting up carb and throttle cable/linkage
  20. It's a far cry from most, just a little 283, but I'm proud of it so far. Nothing pertaining to the v8 swap has been farmed out. Had some help from me pa. We did have to grind two mounting ears off of the th350, but othewise everything fit without any trans tunnel massaging. Thank you to all of those at hybridz that have gone before and chronicled their victories an failures to make it easy for the rest of us. Thanks also to 280zcar who loaned me the invaluable load leveler
