  1. Don't know how you managed to find that clean of a Z up in your area, but congrats on the score. Please, please, please keep the stock color. For some reason that yellow is my favorite early z color next to orange.
  2. I agree with RTz, if you really want to learn about the S30 start by reading all of the FAQ's. From there go to the specific sub-forum and search for the topic you are wanting and read everything you find there. It will consume a lot of time, but you will learn more than you can about the s30 than from books you could buy (don't be afraid to donate some of the money you would have spent on the books). I am not knowcking subject specific books which are still invaluable, but when it comes to specifically the s30, most of it can be found here.
  3. I've been watching too much cake boss. My first thought was to slap some rice krispies on there and start cutting until you saw what you liked.
  4. The new LS heads flow WAY better than the gen 1 heads. Stock ls heads flow as well as a lot of aftermarket gen1 heads. The only thing on the short block is weight savings, I don't think much else in the short block contributes to the power gains
  5. ^ This is an excellent tip, and something that I didn't think off, nor did I look for before I installed mine, and they gave me trouble.
  6. I had a feeling that the side mount would take a bit of fab fastz. That is why I was hoping to run a front mount system. They make stand alone gear sets that allow your to run a unit in reverse but the gearsets alone are around 3000 bucks. There are pre-kits for mustangs to run reverse rotation units that mount the blowe unit in front of engine and it is driven with accessory belt. Your setup is looking very nice though. Best of luck in trying to get everything under the hood.
  7. So paxton makes their race drive unit, but it looks like it takes up a foot in front of the engine. I saw that novi-1000 and 2000 come in reverse rotation setups for the mustangs but did not see anything for the chevy. Does anyone know of any "systems" or manufacturer offered setups that run reverse rotation to be mounted in fron of engine? I would prefer to run a centrifugal as opposed to setting up a turbo setup, but am starting to find that it may be cost prohibitive with current offerings.
  8. Wow, I have yet to drive the 370, but when I drove the 350z for a day or so when my friedn had one, the smile did not leave my face. I can't imagine how many giggles the 370 will illicit if you guys think that highly of it.
  9. So I did the maxi-fuse upgrade and have a 4g running from starter (+) to one side of maxi-fuse block, alternator output running to the other input on fuse block, which then feeds the main power red/white wires. If I run my voltage sensing wire from the fuse panel in the passenger well, and the alternator increase output to compensate for voltage drop and keep 14 volts at the fuse block, will this overcharge the battery? It is just a 65 amp delco 3 wire alternator, and it just seems to defeat the purpose of the sensing wire to run it straight to the battery (+) post.
  10. And that held it on sufficiently? Sounds like a better option. I have some black silicone sealant in the garage from sealing the trans tunnel.
  11. Thanks, that's the route I felt I was going to go, but wasn't sure if there was enough lip to get decent adhesion. The only thing I don't like is the thought of not being able to take it off to touch up paint, oh well.
  12. Has anyone attached the trim ring to their 280 tail ilght in a fashion that did not require the tiny screws? Most of the pot metal for each screw is cracked and does not hold well. I was also unable to find screws with a shaft small enough to fit. Any alternative suggestions?
  13. Please, for future posts use appropriate grammar and punctuation. It makes your posts so much easier to understand. The better understanding we have of what you are asking, the more likely we will be able to offer useful information.
  14. I here you jsm. When it comes to MY cars. I prefer to have something that I can diagnose and fix in a 3 day weekend or less. This limits me to about nothing after 1990 but I can live with that.
  15. Will do. Spring is the goal. I think I can have it running and on-road by end Feb. Have a baby due in May so that is the no-later-than deadline. Mocking up my taurus fan to the datsun radiator and moving onto hooking up my harness, have a couple more weekends off with no plans so I should be able to make some decent progress.
  16. Looking good Kevin. Just finishing my pitiful fuel system, and it has probably been the least enjoyable part of my project so far. Hope you're enjoying it more than I am.
  17. Crap, I suppose a backing plate might have helped in that floor plan area?
  18. All of that work and no strut bracing?
  19. ACtually, I think that is some sort of equalizer. The panel on the left I don't think is a stereo
  20. No matter how much I try, I can't get myself to appreciate that "stretched" tire fad.
  21. I would love to have an m3 as a daily. May have to look into that. Beautiful car, many happy returns with this one I imagine. As far as the beverage situation, any other forum I may have wondered, but I feel that the general level of responsibility of the standing members of this forum is high enough that you needed no explanation. Looking forward to seeing what the future holds for you and this car Mike. Cheers!
  22. Had no idea you had that level of rust in the battery area Kevin. Look EXACTLY like my Z did in the before pictures. Difference being I didn't have the nuts to weld it myself. Single most expensive thing besides the car purchase so far was getting that area repaired, but it looks stock! Sorry to hear you've been going through all this instead of driving. I should be out at cars and coffee this coming weekend, just not with the Z yet. The repairs look really good, and I like the idea of the bulkhead connectors. Keep the posts coming man!

  24. You are in for SUCH a treat! Met a FF coupe owner at the last cars and coffee. His car was so incredible. There is NO doubt in my mind that if I pucharsed a kit it would be this one. I am stoked to watch your progress, and hope the headaches are few and far between.
  25. I'm up in Mckinney, but probably not going to be very helpful. Barely enough time to work on my v8 swap right now. Wouldn't mind answering questions if I can help. I have heard the turbo swap is much more straight forward, especially if you have a donor turbo car.
