  1. Aluminum is soft and does best with a hacksaw then a hand file to dress it up. You do this with the engine out of the car, then there's plenty of room. Fiber blades tend to load up with aluminum.
  2. I'm sorry-it was a moment of weakness. Lovely paintwork on those cars. Incredible in fact. There is a place for that sort of static display, cause somebody's obviously paying to have them built. I'm embarrassed that I was such a hater. Please ignore me and carry on.
  3. Please take that un-drive-able hellaflush junk to some other site-argh! Ratsun needs more members.
  4. What's wrong with them? They look fine to me. Love the wheels-tell us more about them.
  5. Do you know how to access the adjuster knobs on the stance shocks? Difficult (not super difficult) access to the lower adjuster is what kept me from going double-adjuster on konis (I went single adjustable, and I'm happy with them). Where are the adjuster knobs/screws on the stance units?
  6. What's your technique for launching the car? Trans brake? Stomp it from idle? Stand on both pedals and come off brake?
  7. Check classifieds. MiKelly has an alternator bracket for sale that might work.
  8. Whacked-out? Translation-worn out or modified? Sorry, Im old. How big of a nitrous shot?
  9. Texas300- look into the half-mile events like Wannagofast.com. They are extremely lenient and I saw several cars break 200 mph at the GA 1/2-mile. 200 in the half-mile: crazy!
  10. That paint looks great. I hated the black with black wheels. The silver with the black wheels really looks good. Good luck at the event this weekend-try to break that rearend!
  11. The ECTA rule book is pretty intense (for a hack like me, anyway). The safety mods go really crazy after 175mph, because after your car goes 176 you have to comply with the 200mph rules, which are a huge step up. So, Im building to 175mph paragraphs in the rule book. The big expenditures were a 6-point NHRA rollbar, driveshaft loop, 6-pt harness (in date) metal seats (Kirkeys for me), lugnuts that pass 5/8" thru the wheels, specified tires (MT Front runners and drag radials), closed (in-date) helmet, fire suit, head sock, gloves, arm restraints, shoes. I gotta double check on socks. I'm working on the fire suppression system right now and I have to re-do my electrical shutoff system and battery relocation. Then all I have left is a steel bellhousing. The race weekend is in a little over a month with a Spring Break week in there, so that's a week that I can't work. It's gonna be a push to be ready, but Im paid up and registered and just booked my hotel. My fabricator will be going as my shotgun for the drive and my crew chief when it is time to get strapped in. Hope for good weather. Please cheer me on as I gut thru the all-nighters I will need to have to get the last mods done.
  12. The car isn't ready, but I'm registered and just booked my hotel for Hot Rod weekend at ECTA-LSR in Wilmington, OH on May 2-3. I'm chasing the C/GMS class record which is currently 161mph. That class: C=less than 370cid, G=gasoline fuel, not nitrous, not turbo, not blower, MS=modified sports, which is a class that is actually pretty liberal when it comes to chassis mods. I probably won't break the record on this outing because my aero is so horrible, but I hope to get my licensing runs done, then return in June hoping in earnest to set a record after working on my aero during the month of May. Anybody who is in the area and wants to cheer me on is welcome. Its an 8-hour tow for me. Why have I posted this here? Cause I'm running my trusty stock LS2/T56/R200/JCI mounts setup. I have gone 148mph in the standing half-mile with the car as it sits, so I know that the car is fast enough to at least get thru licensing runs.
  13. Yeah, you got that right! It sucked to pull the seats to start running the sprinkler lines. I just got those damn seats in!! Re-doing things is the worst! I did my battery relocate 20 years ago to SCCA rules-now that Im under a different rule book, lots of things have to change. And my seatbelts age-out in June!
  14. The Firefox 10# bottle is mounted with the brackets that came with it plus some backing plates that I cut and drilled from some flat stock so that the bolts are less likely to rip thru the flat sheet metal should I ever have a nasty upside-down off-track excursion. Due to the stock gas tank and spare tire well, the package tray was the only viable location for mounting it, since the big flat area on the right is reserved for the battery box. In the photo you can see the vent tube for the "sealed" battery box that is to come next. I have made big backing plates for the battery box mounting bolts since the same issue applies here with the battery being secured only to the flat sheet metal floor. I did manage to position the battery box such that one of the bolts passes thru a "frame rail," which on reality is only a box section of sheet metal in the unibody. Sorry, it looks like the photos are sideways coming off my cell phone. Made bracket for fire suppression handle and master power shutoff. This bracket will go between my seat and the trans tunnel river nutter to the tunnel.
  15. Do well on finals (good luck)-infinitely more important.
  16. I don't know if this has already been suggested, but get under the dash and adjust the stop screw to ensure that the pedal is returning all the way up during bleeding. I had a nightmare bleeding my clutch much like you are having and the only problem was that I wasn't getting full stroke travel during bleeding. Loosened up the travel stop and bingo! It bled really fast to a solid pedal.
  17. The guy who had my car before me stole his wife's cookie sheet and used call to hold it in place. It worked.
