Which engine building program/website are you using? A few months ago atlanticz.ca had a web-based one with the pistons in question listed as one of the options. Now all I see is a java based one and the standard Lengine building tool.

haha, yeah I realised that I put on a way to thick coat for the first coat! I really had no Idea what I was doing. But yes, I figured that out when I did a test spot on my other fender and it came out alot flatter and smoother than anything on the other fender, just by using less paint on the roller. I also did this with a normal foam roller, because i was kinda just testing the waters, but I am definitely going to go for the ultra super high density foam roller for the rest of the car. Oldarthanme, your advice was what got me started! thanks! Phantaz, this is after sanding with 320grit sandpaper, on a previously primered fender. I am going to do the rest of the car in charcoal gray. edit: on second thought, anodized bronze might be closer to I want (current color of the car) http://www.rustoleum.com/product.asp?frm_product_id=18&SBL=1 Jaysz, I am going to do the rest of the car this way! probably will be done sometime in the middle of summer depending on wether i get a job or not (time constraints, not money because this is dirt cheap!) here's a picture of what I started with. and

email dave. He of all people would know.

The link you posted prooved to be quite helpful... I found that they use Pico fuel injectors, those will be easy to hide in the carburetor. edit (didn't want to make a whole new post for this): I have noticed that the in putting the fuel injector in the float bowl, I would have to move the throttle plate away from the engine, other wise i would be spraying onto a closed throttle plate at idle. Unless I can think of an idling solution, this seems like the largest hurdle to overcome, with the discovery of these small injectors.

What do you guys think would be the most reliable upgrade?
olie05 replied to a topic in Nissan L6 Forum
Most reliable setup is a fuel injected l28. N/A of course. Lets see, how many times has my car been down for engine problems in the last 2-1/2 years? (once and that was cus the headgasket blew... and i'm running too high compression for my combo) but yes, l28 fuel injected N/A, ultimate reliability. carbs will give you hard starting every once in a while, and you can already hang with fuel injection, so go that route. -
http://www.rodandcustommagazine.com/techarticles/135_0406_efi/ that is what I have found so far in my searches as far as fuel injected carbueretors go, but the DCOE style carbs won't fit a standard fuel injector(s) into the float bowl.

looks like from a 60's olds or buick.

i want that wing sooo bad!

sweet!!! sell that sucker on ebay and go buy your l28et!

steering damper... like the kind you see on motorcycles and on the front of the steering rack on jacked up trucks... didn't come stock on z's... j/k

Yeah, I've seen the ITB's made by TWM and sold by TEP. I kinda want the actual carburetor on the outside, but with fuel injection on the inside. All the kits that are out now have the fuel injectors on the outside.

so does the auto trans.

I finally did it, and I have to say I am pleased with the results. Without even wetsanding or buffing, I can tell this is going to be an easy way to get some shine on my car It was really scary at first when it hadn't settled, and the paint had all these bubles on it... I thought "what have I done!?" but then After a few hours it started leveling out. I did the coat way to thick, as in I applied too much. I definitely thined it out enough though. I have the "smoke grey" color, and i think i'm going to go for the "charcoal grey" because this is way too light for my tastes. But at least I know what to do with the next coat! here are the pics:

Heres my plan: Gutted webers with completely hidden fuel injection. I started looking at some pictures, and even saw a few real DCOE's and I know that it will be almost impossible to fit a standard fuel injector into the gutted carburetor housing. I found on the TWM website a picture of an alpha with ITB setup and a "k-jet" nozzle... that got me thinking, (and here's my question for the fuel injection guru's) is it possible to separate the atomizing part and the valve part of a fuel injector and connect a hose in between the two? The idea would be to mount the fuel injectors somewhere, possibly in the float bowls of the gutted carbies, and run a small metal pipe to a nozzle that would atomize the fuel, but would be small so as to appear to be a vacuum fitting, or to be mounted in a conveniently hidden location. The fuel injector itself would be demoted to just a fast actuated and precisely metered valve. I don't want to hear about why I am doing this, I'm doing it cus i want to

I painted my fender! I will take pictures tomorrow in the daylight... and I suppose I should start my own thread for it. Looks almost like the surface of the picture at the beginning of this post with the haynes manual, except a little bumpier. I'm thinking I need to thin the paint out some and use a lighter coat.

why did he install it if it was pointless? j/k couldn't resist. Great find! looks like a very clean z... is there an ls2 swap in the works for it as well?

Blew up the intake, Help? (Kinda LONG)
olie05 replied to savageskaterkid's topic in Trouble Shooting / General Engine
Yeah, that happened to my exhaust, I had the timing WAY off, and I tried cranking the engine. The muffler exploded and came apart at the seams. Have you set the timing with a light? Have you gone through the FI bible? It has very basic tests that will reveal alot of electrical problems in the system. If it is not something that the test can reveal, it is probably a clog in the fuel line. I would definitely say that the stock fuel injection system is rather easy to diagnose. -
anyone buy the jegs roll cage yet?
olie05 replied to mobythevan's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I hate to bring a thread back from the dead, but I just found the link to jegs kit, and I am seriously considering it: http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10002&storeId=10001&categoryId=24207&parentCategoryId=10775&langId=-1 what do you guys think? is it crap, or a steal? -

So, theoretically, one could extract a good ramp rate approximation from a timeslip. For example, My car runs the 1/4 in 14.8s, at 90.8mph, and the 1/8 at 9.5s and 74mph since the car is under more load for the second half of the quarter mile, 90.8 - 74 = 16.8mph 14.8 - 9.5 = 5.3s appx ramp rate = 16.8/5.3 = 3.17m/h/s ~ 5.10k/h/s Does that ramp rate sound right for an average "sporty" car? also, would I be able to go up to any dyno tuner and say, "i want you to use this ramp rate?"

fastzcars, voltage at the alternator was the same as at the battery. There was no external regulator to be found. (we searched) Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the 78's came with internally regulated alternators. thanks for the link!
