  1. if you look carefully there are two hoses going to the nozzle. They must have had a wet shot.
  2. so was it better/easier to paint over bare metal or old sanded paint?
  3. lol great story!!! haha I just watched the video with sound!!! It put a big old stupid grin on my face and left me laughing out loud like an idiot! good job!
  4. Yeah i know I'm like 3 years late, but today was the first time I drove a 350z... first impressions of the car : smells like a rental. (gross) I actually love the styling of the car, and I just wanted to see if I would enjoy the performance. well, I was quite disapointed. I don't know if the 350z was just really heavy, but when I got back into my car it seemed to accelerate quicker. Cruising on the freeway was nice. The sound system was like being in my room with the bad-a$$ stereo! another good thing was the little-to-none body roll. I thought my car was pretty good at not rolling, but this thing stayed flat through any corner I threw at it! The stop clock feature was nice too! I'm still trying to find something similar for my car. Surprisingly, the interior seemed more cramped than My Z. Thats wierd, because the 350 seems to be bigger when you look a the inside from the outside, but once you get in, its like it closes in around you. Anyways, thats an impression of a 350z from the stand point of someone who drives an s30 daily. thanks for letting me waste some of your time! lol
  5. so you are not using any primer? is the caca spot on top of your flare because of the paint?
  6. thats awesome!!! most videos are of the car from the sidelines... or in cockpit. This captures the demise of the tires!
  7. http://www.megasquirt.info/megatune.htm#autotune I think what happens is you drive the car around with auto tune on, and it puts values into your VE table, based on what you set for your AFR tables.
  8. i hope you guys are talking about aftermarket cams on these heads as well. The stock cam will not cut it. Just thought I'd throw that out there
  9. ok i'm going to be the optimist here. You can get away with all your goals except for the 91-93 octane gas. I have to admit, I didn't give it a second thought about what kind of gas I would have to run when I first ordered my flat top pistons, I just kinda knew It would work on pump gas and that was ok with me. Once I built the engine and started reading more about CR's and such, I vowed to always run the highest octane I could afford (93 (r+m)/2) now back to your story, I gaurantee that when you get that maximum boost book, you will read something about running High octane fuel. Hopefully that will change your mind about 87... Another thing to consider, If you do go with a fuel injection setup,(with proper tuning) you will be getting the same amount of $/mile on 93 octane as you would have on 87 with the blow through carb setup.
  10. Wow. Very impressive work! These cars deserved a high end leather interior from the factory!

Really? Is that on or off boost on the freeway? sorry for the ignorance, i've never owned or driven a turbo car for extended periods of time to know if being on boost is normal for freeway driving (most of the driving time was ON BOOST!!!)... Just curious!
  13. One way to get it at tdc is to stick a blunt pencil down the sparkplug hole and turn the motor slowly (make sure the pencil is touching the top of the piston). The pencil will rise and fall. Stop turning the motor when the pencil gets to its highest point, and that should be tdc. You can verify with the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley, but sometimes, even those are wrong.
  14. don't forget that by doing that you are reducing the distance from the force to the pivot point (radius), and in turn reducing the amount of torque about that point (torque = Force*radius). If there is enough pressure in the exhaust manifold right before the turbo, there might not be enough force to open the puck, depending on how much force your actuator can produce.
  15. i wonder how long it takes to align that thing!
  16. like a mid engined z? yes.... lol
  17. hmmm... why didn't I see this before I told 'em i could work that night? grr.
  18. no s30, but heres my Z33 I just made yes, I know it has positive camber in the front... I'm already starting to make paper camber plates
  19. http://www.nissan.co.jp/EVENT/PAPERCRAFT/ knock yourselves out! I'll post pics of mine when its done... and don't forget to download the japanese plug in for adobe reader. Or just download the GIF. (I prefer pdf)
  20. what i like about the first car is that the insane detail doesn't pop out at you like on some show cars. On this car you have to look for the details. If you just glance at it, it looks like your run of the mill z car with centerlines and a good paintjob. Very nicely done.
  21. I agree. Get a machinist that does what you want, not what he wants.
  22. found it!!!!! http://www.datsport.com/Flywheel.html
  23. Heres a few pics of mine. I know I didn't install it correctly, but it give you an idea of what it looks like in the hole.
  24. there was an article a while back (almost a year I think) where someone scanned in a picture from a 510 book or something, and it showed a cross section of a L-series flywheel, and then where to cut it for lightening with specific measurements and everything. Anyone know of this article? I'm going insane searching google, hybridz, zcar !!
