whats the deal with the airdam? very different approach from whats been done.is that a "Z" cutout right behind the headlight? if so, it would look really cool at night lit up from the inside!
  3. yes, i will "store" a set of your fender mirrors as well ...
  4. wow. good to see you're still here
  5. update... I installed the gauge in the clock hole, sorry no pics, but needless to say it is a temporary install. I simply fit the gauge into the hole by surrounding the edges with foam insulation. The gauge is lit up now, with the dash wiring of the clock. The problem now, is that i want to get a gauge that fits into the hole ( 2-5/8" vs. 2-1/16") I am looking at two gauges, but I cant decide. If i go with the electrical one (first pic), the needle will be pointing past the halfway point most of the time and there is a possibility of maxing out the gauge ( i think), and if i go with the mechanical one (second pic) the needle will be pointing at below the halfway point most of the time. I guess my question is what is the operating range that i need to monitor? or:
  6. wow that sucks... i've heard of this happening but i have never seen it. Thanks for the pics, sorry i don't have any insight to your problem.
  7. i wonder how they will tie it into the original plot... ...well in all reality they probably won't even try to, seeing as how the original plot was hardly there to begin with.
  8. i only have 2 entries in my fuel log as of now. i will probably be putting a table on my website of this data. hopefully mileage will get better...

  10. there was a problem with bandwidth (geocities gives nothing) so I remotely hosted the images (not off of hybridz... don't worry!!) and now it should be back up soon!
  11. 25 mpg is a big relief because i thought it was getting around 20mpg. anyways, before everyone jumps all over this saying "you're speedometer is not perfect" and such and such... let me explain i arrived at this number. I filled up the tank (until the first click), reset the odometer and drove to austin. Got back to houston filled up the tank and took the number of miles traveled divided by the number of gallons consumed. but wait theres more!!! Me and my friend drove side by side in order to match speeds and on his late model altima (with a more precise speedometer than mine) he was holding a steady 35mph while i was holding a steady 32 mph. The orignial number i came up with was in the 24mpg range... and then i corrected it for his speedometer by multiplying it by 35/32... Any arguments on the validity of my numbers? (i'm sure there are!!!)
  12. wow... that must have been some crazy understeer. Good thing no one was standing where he crashed.
  13. if you're only using them for autocross and track, i think you should look more into the 15 or 16 inch wheels. They would be lighter and tires would be alot cheaper... by lighter i mean about 5 pounds off the wheels and moving most of the mass closer to the center...
  14. james, is that an electric water pump? If it is, are you still running a thermostat? (i'm guessing no on this one)
  15. just out of curiosity... how was that done? some sort of body kit? or was it more intesive than a few fiberglass panels?
  16. I'll let James speak on the details of the conversion, I'm just helping him get the pictures up here. enjoy! BTW great conversion James!!!
  17. yeah, like the title says, I updated the MR2 portion of my website, as the engine just arrived from the machine shop... check out the new pics. Oh yeah, I added another picture of my z on the opening page. btw it is optimized for internet explorer, but looks ok in firefox click on the link in my sig...
  18. is it me or does that engine seem to be mounted really far forward?
  19. is it possible to simply cut a section off the top of the strut tube and rethread for the gland nut?
  20. how ironic, friday night is the day I head out to florida (spring break w00t) maybe another day durring the week? wednesday, and thursday, my night classes aren't too terribly important...
  21. dude if you have time before you leave, you wanna go to track 21? I know we said we would go but we never did... and i gotta get my track times up so i can be a driver for FSAE!! ps. we never did the all houston z's meet!
  22. Last night I installed a mechanical water temp gauge in my car. I used the heater outlet on the head for the sensor, since the adapter I had threaded right in, but now I am wondering if that was the smartest place to put it. By putting the sensor there, i blocked off any water that would normally escape through there. Will this cause an extreme inbalance in the front to back cooling of my engine? The temp gauge is reading 160 normally and 180 under hard acceleration or just stopped while running. oh yeah, check out my superghetto install... DUCT TAPE!!! oh yeah, and one more question... where do I tap into the rheostat wiring so that i can get the gauge to light up with the dash lights?
