  1. Anyone got a good lead on a salvage yard around Hickory/Gastonia/Shelby areas?? All of the smucks that I have called have been jerks or offer no help locating parts I need. Pick and pull would be great.
  2. Link is missing.... but I think its a repost....
  3. Gotcha, Now, I am assuming it will be easier to run an aftermarket regulator...(ease of adapting it to new fuel rail) BTW, what pressures are normal for a FI 280Z ? So I can have a reference point to setup the haltech.
  4. I did a search on haltech on the entire site, and I know that I responded to a couple of threads that do not exist anymore.... Did we lose some posts during the conversion??? or is the search not working?
  5. While I'm working on the intake and fuel rail, I was wondering what I need to do about the fuel pressure regulator... I don't want to remove all the vacuum lines before I know what I need... Rick (SPEEDER) , I know you had a setup similar to mine, what did you run in your N/A Z for a regulator using the haltech? Anyone else?
  6. I'll probably do like you guys put it.... Suspension and brakes will be first, then some other things on the way... maybe an LSD..etc.. After those two things are complete, I'll start keeping my eye open for an LT1 / 6 speed combo.....I saw Marks 240 Z over the weekend and that LT1 looks like its supposed to be there....very nice car.. Not soon enough....mine will be a home for one also...
  7. Lots of sanding and polishing.... plenty of different size buffing wheels, lots of compound, dremel, ...etc.. The large areas are not that bad.... its the inside corners and crevices that are a PITA.
  8. To add to my comments.... I believe a custom FI system would outperform a triple carbed setup for these reasons.... 1. Fuel management system can be setup to allow to run higher compressions than a carbed setup since it has a precise metering for the entire RPM range. (also the FI system also includes an ignition system, for detonation) 2. Any given engine is only going to take so much air, anything beyond that amount of flow is simply wasted. Sure a triple carb setup may flow more....but there is only so much air going to go in unless forced. A triple carbed setup does look nice..... but it also has more maintenace involved also...Although a FI system looks very nice also...
  9. I cannot believe I wasted almost 6 minutes of my life watching that.......
  10. Well, the intake is coming along...... Still no compressor. Using a drill at the moment (very slow going) Got a couple more spots to clean up. Also started on the new fuel rail. Couple more taps to do on it and it'll be finished up... Don't think I'll be polishing the intake......waaay too much trouble... its the little spots that would take forever.. I'll probably paint or powder coat it... Just have to decide on a color to make it stand out... Couple begining pics Here

    Which movie?

What about Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry ?
  12. I know the 4 and 5 speeds on the 280's have the same pattern, and I think the 5 speed out of a 280 will bolt right in the 240.. If I'm not mistaken Its a direct bolt in. Except for the T-5, need a driveshaft made for it.... Someone correct me if I'm wrong..
  13. Ok, My plans have to change... The car that I was going to use as the project car is gone , someone else got it. I was going to put an LT1 in it and make a convertible out of it... Sooo, now that the project car is gone, I thought about using my existing Z and do the transplant in it... I thought while the 6 is still in it, I could go ahead and upgrade the brakes, suspension, etc to accomodate the later V8 conversion... plus I get to tweak the upgrades before the V8 goes in. Although I will NOT cut this one into a ragtop. I guess the only thing is that after the conversion I will have three L28 engines sitting here of no use...2 stockers and one modded. Guess I could get some project money from them though... ...plus there is the sentimental thoughts of keeping the modded 6 in there...(all the time and effort).... not to mention if I bought another project car, there is more money getting them both up to par....and 6 cars at the house.... The more I think about it, the more confused I get... So... what do ya think of my ramblings.... what would YOU do?
  14. I had a problem with that one time..... I ended up having to run a new power from the fuse box to get it to work right.... PITA...
  15. That yellow one looks awfully familiar... I think I saw it today Very nice
  16. Thats why I used a N42 intake...because the ports are open. Looks better IMO too and weighs a little less also. Im in the process of porting and cleaning it up now...
  17. Got if fixed.....FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES!!!!!! And the capacitor was rated a hair higher than the original..... ARRGHHHHHGHGGHGG !@#$!#!^#!^$!#$!@#!#@%&^%^&! GETTING RID OF THE POS......THEY BETTER TAKE THIS !@#$!@%@# PIECE OF $#@!^$@%$& BACK...... Getting another one somewhere else....
  18. even though you found the answer... I am getting rid of them because....well, I don't need them anymore... I went to an aftermarket fuel management system and almost all of them are not of use now... update.... I got the compressor fixed today........AND IT WORKED FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND THEN IT DIED AGAIN TAKING THE POS BACK WHERE IT CAME FROM AND GETTING ONE SOMEWHERE ELSE!! Man this sux....
  19. Holy Schinkies Think it will put you back in the seat a bit?
  20. No warranty... Its not the most expensive compressor in the world... Manufacturer is somewhere in china.... Grainger has some, but they list a MFD rating..... whats that?
  21. On the label it says... CBB60 120 uF +/- 5% 250 VAC 50/60 Hz
  22. So.... what other vehicles could you mangle like that..? Looks like a 2000 lb sack of sheep dip.
  23. The second pic looks very nice... I started on the screw bungs last night and also blending the casting lines together... One question.... what about the small holes that are left behind.... is there a filler I can use or will it have to be welded with aluminum rods.... or bond solder in there..... Of course my compressor decided to die on me after the first one thats another thread... http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=21404
