  1. Ok, while working on my intake, my compressor decided to die on me..... and its only a few months old... The part that went up in smoke is what I think is a capacitor. Or some sort of a starter for the motor. Its a blue cylinder about 2" in diameter and about 5 inches long with two connections on the end... What is it, what does it do and where can I get another one.... thx guys..
  2. Shot you an email.... (its also in my profile ) Any others???
  3. Ok guys... If you have a pic or link of some stock intakes that have been altered, shaved, etc......can ya post 'em for me? I took off the fuel rail to find out what injectors were not firing (fixed)...... since I had it off, I decided to go ahead and make the new fuel rail.... well of course the intake would not look right without cleaning it up a bit (getting rid of all the screw bosses)...... As you can see this thing is snowballing..... Back to the point.. I wanna see some pics so I can get an idea what I want it to look like.....I went ahead and started porting the intake...(sucker has a big lope right behind the throttle body)
  4. 99.9% sure its a 3.545 rear end.... unless it was changed before I bought the car... The throttle body is(was) stock. I made the mistake of putting the stock clutch back in the car. Hard 1-2 and 2-3 shifts pretty much killed the clutch in about a week. I meant, to at least put the 2+2 version of the clutch in the car, but I was in a hurry to get the car going. My mistake but I have new T-5 that is going in the car next, so I'll change the clutch then. That 6.27 sec mark may be off by a fraction but not much, I still had the 14" wheels on it when that figure was generated and it was pretty consistant for a while. That figure came from a Cyberdyne digital speedometer that I installed that will calculate the 0-60 as soon as the car starts moving. (kinda hard to cheat )
  5. Thats freaking amazing.... put's all other flame jobs to shame...
  6. Sorry about all the bad news.... You never know when stuff like this happens...
  7. I like.... Where did that pic come from?
  8. I'm running a L28 bored .020 with an N47 head, changed cam etc...... You will have to alter the stock FI a bit to get it to run somewhat correctly. I ran it on the stock FI for about a year and now am in the final part of changing it to a Haltech FI system. Quickest time 0-60 with that setup was 6.27 sec. Clutch started slipping, so I need to change that when I put the T-5 in....No 1/4 mile times though... Hopefully the Haltech will run a bit quicker since I can program the ignition also. With the compression I have, it is a pain on pump gas to find the best ignition timing...Had to find a happy medium but like I said the Haltech should cure that problem. Also get a good set of NGK racing plugs... or you will be eating plugs left and right.... I found that out the hard way...

    help

If its going bad, it will have somewhat the same characteristics of starving for fuel. It could be intermittant. Check the filters first, then if you don't have a pressure guage, get someone to help and disconnect one of the feed lines and place it in a large container, then push the flap on the airflow meter with the key on. You should have plenty of fuel coming out.... (not sure what volume it should be putting out though) Remember, EFI systems have a lot more pressure than carb'd ones do, be careful.
  10. Sounds like its flooding the engine with gas. Check the cold start injector, it may be dumping more than it should when its starting. Could be a bad connection on the cold start injector also... I had that problem and I made it worse when I upped the compression and it didn't fire right off... It eventually quit working so I replaced it with the Haltech EFI. (needed it anyway) Are they the same plugs you used before?... are they fouled again.?

    I blew it

I was told that a normal loop is about 4 G's.... I tell ya what... its more fun than any roller coaster I have ever ridden... lots more bodily pressure also.. I rode quite a few extreme roller coasters.. Now.... if I can only find a way for the Z to pull 4 G's....hmmmm...
  12. Welcome... Where at in NC?

    I blew it

Actually, Pilot is in front and I set behind him. Full controls in both seats... It was a trip, They are based somewhere near Peachtree, Georgia... I can't imagine what kind of G's a Fighter jet can pull.... or even better.... these small acrobatic planes

    I blew it

Well, I blew some of the money I had put back to start my hybrid... Went to the airshow yesterday and....well I wanted to fly... Saw a couple of outfits selling normal plane rides, but one guy was giving aerobatic rides on a ...T6 Texan. dunno how many g's he was pulling when he pulled a loop out of a dive, but it felt great. Ready to go again.....(when funds are availiable )
  15. I'll stay with EFI, after I bought my first Z with EFI.... I got spoiled... I'll never run a carburetor, unless its bought that way.......then it will be changed sooner or later..
  16. That would work too.....always the obvious
  17. I too have to login everytime I get on now... Tried everything...

    Amazing car

This is the full MSA kit.... note the rear spoiler is different... I'm not sure what the rear spoiler is on that yellow one......unless MSA offers a different one now... ( I don't get the catalogs anymore )
  19. Might wanna jiggle the cold start valve while it is running....I have had that happen before... even try unplugging it while its running... Also, is there any water or a loose connection on your fusible links?
  20. When it rains it pours... Sorry for all the bad news
  21. I was kinda wondering about the tires.... but they were weighted inside....
