  1. Well, after some tech guy at MSD kinda blew me off and being a jerk, I called up Crane Cams and the tech guy told me they had a conversion kit for the L28 distributor. It replaces the magnetic sensor with an optical unit.. Ordered it from Doug Herbert Thursday... Maybe I can hear the car running by Wednesday .. Provided I can get a MAP setup correctly.... How hard is it to get the car running for the first time with the Haltech??

    Depends on how loud you want it. I ran no muffler and just a dual resonated tip on my 280ZX and sounded fine, with the cat still intact. No header. Was not that loud....really. Now I have a single tip on my 280Z (no cat, no muffler, header), its pretty loud. (edit) It has a muffler on it at the moment (I couldn't use the cell phone ) I have a flowthough cherry bomb type on it...Its pretty good, still has that "sound". I just want it louder again....so its coming off soon. I haven't used anything but their tips, but I wouldn't run anything different. I just love the sound. This was running 2.25" pipe.

    I always loved the ANSA exhaust...That's what Ferraris have been using for years anyway... I have always had them on my Z's.. Even now.....I just have the ANSA resonated tip with no muffler.... just a little loud.. ANSA
  5. I can say good for him....I just wouldn't do it.. I don't like a high revving engine unless its in a crotch rocket.....Its just me. I prefer the low rumble of an 8.....and I love the sound of a I6 or a V12
  6. This happened after the land was filled in. A very large area of land had fill dirt brought in and leveled off to sell... Well, a watermain broke unnoticed and slowly eroded the ground under it.....until there was nothing left....the water washed it all away... This one is rather deep though..... Now the restaurant is in danger of going in now..
  7. Is it a constant loud squealing.... I had a balancer separate and everytime I hit the gas it would squeal terribly...
  8. I am running a N42 with flat tops, in a L28 .020 over. Its about 10.4:1 It will run on pump gas though.. It is verrrrry sensitive about ignition timing...
  9. I would say that the handling should be better than the I-6,...just because the engine is shorter (lengthwise), therefore it will have less rotating mass while trying to make a turn...(like the gyroscope effect)
  10. I've been looking at some of the MSD and Crane ignition boxes.... Question...wouldn't it be better to go with a turbo distributor as opposed to keeping the stock distributor and adding one of those boxes?? Your looking at 300 bones or so for the box, and you still have the crappy worn out distributor...

  12. I have looked through the posts and have looked at a few sites... What I want is to have vented discs all the way around and a bolt pattern that will accept just about any wheels I need. I think its 4 3/4?? not sure about that.. The Z is a '78 Anyway, are there some sets that are ready to bolt on or with minimal fabrication? thx guys..
  13. Haven't noticed any coolant loss have ya?? Sure would suck if the head gasket is starting to go.
  14. After upping the compression in my L28 I put a set of Bosch platinums in it.....ran for about 5 minutes before fouling.. So, tried some Bosch Supers....lasted long enough to get to the muffler shop to put the exhaust on and barely get back home... Put a set of cold NGK's in it and its been running great ever since..

  17. Hey Rick, What did you use for your trigger??.. I bought MDS box to convert the signal but didn't work.... I guess I should ask which model Haltech you got also... Mines a n/a '78 also..

  20. I had a time getting mine running after rebuilding....sounded like the same problem.... I accidentally leaned on the cold start injector while the g/f hit the key and it fired right up...as soon as I took my hand off it...it would shut off...even after warming up.. So I just took all the injector wires off again and cleaned them all...worked fine after that..but it didn't want to run very good if the CSI was unplugged.. For some reason that FI system did not act like the other one I had...I think the '78 FI was the one what acted funny...the one on the '77 had quite a few differences..
  21. I have one I put in my '78. I still need to get either a '83 turbo distributor or a magnetic signal converter...(last one I bought didn't work ) Besides that its a nice setup...I think I have either a 2 or 3 bar....have too look at it when I'm home...(I put it in 2 years ago ) My brothers '73 L6 turbo (396 rwhp) is running a Haltech also....except he is running 12 injectors.
  22. I can't start to imagine what I would have done.....A size 12 foot up his size 1 A$$ would be a small start..... He needs to be beaten to a pulp....its freaks like that who ruin it for everyone else..
