Hey Guys and Gals, It has been a long time since I did an update so I thought I would bring you all up to speed on my project. I have been so busy with my personal life (work, kids, honey-do list, etc.) that I have little to no time to work on the Z. I really wanted this swap to be completed by now(13 months today since I started) but you all know how it goes. I have come to the conclusion that if I ever want to get the car back on the road, before I retire, I am going to need to either quit my job or get some outside help. Seeing as I can earn more money at work I have decided to pay someone to get it going for me. I really enjoy working on the car and still want to be part of it. Last week I spent several hours talking with the owner of a local Hot Rod-Muscle Car shop. They recently completed an LS6 swap into a 63 Corvette. They have done several other similar swaps but never a Datsun. We discussed all the options and worked out an arrangement where he will do most of the work and allow me to participate (when I have time) in the project. My son is upset because this was supposed to be a father and son project but I realize that the car will stay a member of Jackstand racing for a long time if I don't do this. So yesterday the flatbed pulled into my driveway and towed my baby to the shop. Boy does the garage look empty. I will be taking all of my collected parts to them today and they say that it should be on the road in 3-5 weeks. I gave them an absolute deadline of July 15th. This will give me one month before the Z convention. I will keep you all updated.

I too would be interested in a set of 16X8's. I have the 14x7 Konigs now and I have the same problem with the center caps. I was kind of Pissed that they didn't fit because Gabe advertised the wheels to fit a Z and then when I complained about it they did nothing about the caps. I bought a set of short dust caps for the spindle covers but they still don't fit. I guess I could cut the end off the spindle to gain some space and then pound in the ends of the spindle caps to gain clearance but I would prefer to find caps that will fit properly. Where did you get the caps and what was involved in making them fit? Keep us up to date on the larger wheels size. I am sure we can get 30 people to commit.

I had speartech lengthen mine so it will mount under the passenger seat. I plan to build a mount for it.

The camaro pan works fine in my LHD 240Z. Got mine from the local chevy dealer. $165 was the wholesale price. It included the pan gasket and new bolts.

If you make it to the Wasington, DC area, I would be happy to so you my my LS1 240Z project. I also have a V8 510. Maybe we could arrange a get together of the local Z car guys. Pete is close by with his nice V8 Z. Mike Kelly is about an hour from here too. Also, The east coast Datsun 510 Meet is at Summit Point Raceway the weekend of May 20th and we ussually see some nice Z cars and roadsters too. Not to mention some great vintage cars racing.

Sounds like a scam, bigtime. No one only charges $500 to ship a car from coast to coast. Have you seen the prices of fuel lately? I just got a few quotes yesterday to have a car shipped from DC to TX and the lowest was $700. He wants to get the money order info is my guess. $26K for an 03 BMW M3, I doubt it.

There is a 510 internet mailing list called "the Bluebirds List" that is a wonderful resource for 510 info. The 510 was called a Bluebird in Japan. Email or PM me for info on how to register. 510's are my other Datsun passion.

As a matter of fact, Pete, our county does give illegal aliens entitlements if the jump the border, so to speak. It is a little know gov't policy to give refugees from a communist country a lump sum of cash (approx $9000) and free healthcare if they can make it to our shores. This is a big problem in Florida with the Cuban banana boats. That is why out Cost Guard is woring so hard to turn them back before they reach our shores. I wish someone would have given my ancestors $9K when they came here. Nice start to a new life. I'm not counting on any $ from Social Security.

If I was looking for a daily driver, I think reliability would be higher up on the list. It sucks when you break down on the way to work and have to tell the boos why you were late again. Just Sayin"

Great article. I wish I had the money for one. I bet the crate motor will be $12K. I would love to drop it in my Z. Maybe if I hit the lottery or wait a few years for a wrecked Z06. Thanks for sharing!
