I was surfing the net looking for some ideas on, of all things switches. I stumbled across a 'strange' website that has listings linked to eBay with very good organization by 'era', and price, and area of vehicle. Now for those really creative guys, this site could be a goldmine for ingenuity. I'll give you an example: I was looking in 'Interior' '00 to Current for some switch ideas [incredibly inexpensive OE stuff], when I saw a Black Console w/ Leather Armrest for a Honda Accord ['02] for TWENTY FIVE BUCKS. It was in nice shape, and I measure my Accord console [same model] and with some trimming, it could be a REALLY cool console for an S30! Where the oblong hole for the OE handbrake is, one could put a panel in there with switches or LEDs. This is just ONE example. I saw many power window motors that I believe could work well [usually look for back seat units due to limited 'travel' needed for our S30s]. Leather Shift Boots...REAL leather, for $15. Anyway, I think that some of your creative guys will love the site: http://www.niceautoparts.com I am guessing that eBay Listers pay this site to 'refer' people to their listings...? The site is NOT the specific seller of each item. Good luck, I hope that many of you find some hidden treasures here. I believe that I have! Mustang GT Brake Calipers [spares] for $15!!

Wheel Show! Post your pics of you wheels

Besides the guys spending $500/ea. for custom wheels, for the rest of you...are you all using big spacers, and are you REALLY comfortable with that? Reason being, I have spent DAYS scouring websites looking for an additional set of wheels for my 240Z [coilovers, no flares]. I am coming up with virtually NO options...other than fugly American Racing wheels. I was hoping to score some 17" [or 16x9] wheels to compliment/alternate my 16"x8 set [which I regret buying]. It really seems like th only option is running about a one inch spacer...and I just don't think that I'm comfortable with that..especially for a club day on the track.... Thoughts.... -
Resurrecting a very old Thread for the benefit of some of the newbies. The link was courtesy of The Man, himself, Clifton. This car has been my inspiration for the entire duration of my build...a build which may never be complete. Nonetheless, the work is beyond exceptional, and many of you will benefit from taking note on attention to detail. I certainly have. My only regret is that there was never a public photo album [that I am aware of] so that I could see even more of the details. There are so many questions that I have... It has been my screensaver for years....

If any of you have photo-documented a successful, reliable install I am certain that there would be many VERY appreciative Hybriders that would love to learn about it. I, for one, am at a stage in my paint prep where I need to decide SOON if I will have a lock button or french it over. I would really prefer to 'french' it, and have the release mechanism inside. A former Hybrider who is helping me with the custom paint/bodywork mentioned using a 240SX cable system. I realize that this thread is about electronic systems; but, personally, I would love to see all [functional] options. I will continue to Search now.......

I took the 'Donor Car' info and went to the JY. Plenty of Camrys, and ONE Stanza with PW. In a great bit of fate, there happened to [still] be a '73 [same as mine] with one door gutted and on the car [other door gone]. I spent nearly the whole day pulling PW assemblies. I got ones from Infinitis [J30], Acuras [Legend REAR], Nissans [stanza, 280ZX], and Toyotas [Camry], Lexus [LS] and Mitsubishi [Eclispe]. Many were obviously too long, based upon window size, door height and distance of 'travel'. Surprisingly, a lot of newer luxury cars still use a 'scissor' configuration, as opposed to the Stanza unit pic above. The Acura & Infiniti ones were VERY light, w/ NICE motors. I like the simpler Stanza design more. That being said, I STILL cannot quite understand...using the Stanza-type set-up, do I remove the ENTIRE OE window system from the 240Z door to use this, or do they work in conjunction? Do I remove the OE metal base plate from the OE windows and just use the tabs from the donor car? I am mentally 'challenged' I guess when it comes to customizing these types of things. I realize that the Spal kit mentioned on another thread was essentially plug & play; but, there are other reasons why I am trying to go this alternate route. So, though 'Careless' did this a LONG time ago, and doesn't have any assembly pics, I wonder if anyone else has more photo documentation of functioning power windows on a S30. I am at a critical phase in the paint prep/fabrication to where I need to resolve this asap.

Could you please tell me the LENGTH of the muffler 'can'? Don't need the entire length [including inlet & outlet], just the can itself. My current plan is to run Round Maganflows and hopefully have them tuck up under the rear valance [relatively out of sight]. Thanks... -
Old thread; but, I REALLY wish that it was 'concluded'....

Thanks guys...I'll keep at it....

Thanks! Item 6 is the piece that seems most vulnerable as I pry it apart....? Others?

Spent too long on this task to be doing it right...also, too much force. Can anyone tell me how they got their glass out of the frames without damaging anything? I have used a propane torch for a few seconds, lots of WD40, and I can get the frame 'open'; but not enough to slide glass out. It seems as though the 'back upper corner' piece should allow the top longer piece to slide away.....? Thanks...

"Crack is WHACK..." [Whitney Houston] Craigslist is FULL of idiots, unfortunately it is also how we sometimes find screamin' deals from those that don't have a clue....or are crackheads and need a fix more than the item...

Thanks for looking. I have read several posts on this topic. Some have used a Spal-type set-up which electronically 'cranks' your window from the existing drive and uses the OE regulator. I was wondering if anyone has used a more modern set-up [like the one attached] which would eliminate the need for the OE regulator, which so many find problematic anyway? Difficulty is, I picked this particular unit up off the ground at the Pick-N-Pull, and no idea what car it came from. It just happened to be lying next to a '73 240Z [just like mine]. So, one challenge is figuring out what car it came from [i Googled the faded part number...nada]. The other challenge is figuring out what parts I need to reassemble my door guts. Mine came as a SHELL...with NO internals AT ALL. Please give me your thoughts on the pic, and a possible application solution. Thanks again.... Anyone?!?

I have two S30 dashes [one early, and one '73]. I got two of the MSA full dash caps to install, and misplaced the prep instructions. As a recommendation on another site, I coated the 'good' dash [only two small nicks in the whole thing!] with Vaseline while being stored [indoors] over the last five years. I am doing some 'distracting tasks' to relieve the monotony of HOURS and DAYS of block sanding the car, so I thought 'maybe I'll work on the dash cap & AutoMeter gauges'. I was wondering what those of you did to prep the surface for the silicone prior to attaching the cap? Also, what have some of you done to keep it TIGHT while it cures? Thanks for sharing!

280Z Floor retractors will not fit in the 240Z floor 'pockets'. They are too big....found out the hard way [AFTER fabbing & welding a strut tower piece to accommodate the strut tower retractors] :~(

Thanks for sharing those pics!! It is so helpful to see when the application is virtually IDENTICAL to what I will be needing. I'm seriously considering 'Round' mufflers [Magnaflow] that will tuck up out of view. I have used oval mufflers on my last three 240Zs, and I want to try to make them 'disappear' a bit more.... -
Moderators, please feel free to move this post to a more appropriate section...I didn't know who would 'benefit' more from it. Anyway, there is often fantastic discussions here about engineering certain components on the Hybridization. I saw this post on another board, and just thought that it might inspire some of the geniuses here relative to customizing or adapting. Perhaps most of you have seen pics like these; but, for anyone who hasn't, I hope that they might inspire your creativity. Best... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=2130461

Kewl Covers sells FRCs with no lettering [sMOOTH]. I got a set of blems several years back.... -
You did one Hell of a job on that paint. I took auto painting in hs too. Great experience. Don't think that I 'laid out' my first jobs that nice. Congrats...you should be very proud!

Just passing this along...I was at the Pick-N-Pull in Fairfield, CA today and saw a 300ZX TT with a complete R230 set-up in it. Seems a pretty rare find. Would only need to source one more set of CVs. I don't have the time, space, or opportunity to go back and get it, so I hope someone on the board here hurries over and gets it tomorrow. Also, there was a pretty darn complete '73 240Z. Unusual, even at the plentiful P-N-Ps around here. Someone was looking for an engine cross-member, I thought....also a steering system [rack]. Anyway, good luck. Hope someone can jump on it!

Maybe I should start getting a 'Finders Fee' for these leads... ;~) -
Not affiliated with the seller in any way, thought that I would pass it along. If it is the EX-wife selling it, you might be able to get her 'down' lower just to spite the soon-to-be ex-husband....? http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/tls/658846716.html
