When I did my conversion (R200 into early 240), I ran into the same issue of the strap not fitting however, it was really close! What I mean is, that the strap prevented the diff from being lifted enough to install and bolt the mount in place. OH. what to do? After looking closely at the problem I discovered that if I removed the steel sleeves on the strap mounting bolts, it allowed just enough room to complete the task. I did have to use a floor jack to apply force. Now the strap is relatively tight and have had no ill side effects from doing this mod. This worked for me anyway! Probably not the best method for someone with high HP.

Come on now Jon, I didn't mean to get ya going on the spacer deal! I just wanted to let guys know that Precision Gear themselves told me this when I asked them the question.....just passing along some info.

Since the Washtenaw Community College crew stuck it on the modified 500!

Just a note regarding the spacers to fill the gap when installing R200 ring gear with 12mm through hole and using the 10mm bolts. Give Precision gear a call, as I did, and they will tell you they are not necessary and have customers who race off road who have no issues by not using these spacers. Basically, if you are worried about the ring gear slipping against the LSD carrier, them you have not torqued the bolts properly. Also, if by chance you fabricate spacers that happen to be a tiny bit too long, the bolts will not clap the ring gear properly and you WILL then have a problem. Don't trust my post, call Precision Gear! I've got one of their R200 LSD and it works perfectly and it cost under $500.00.

Buy yourself a good service manual and learn to use the search function. Alot better than waiting for a reply to be posted!

IIRC, the recommended fuel pressure for the SUs is 4 to 4.5 psi. With new needles and seats in the carbs you can get away with a bit more. Anything over what you've mentioned is asking for trouble.

olderthanme, If you haven't checked, you can buy new entry level race seats for about $200.00 each! I would imagine these would be less $$$ than the time and materials it will take to fab and recover customized stock seats......and with no warranty to boot! Just a thought.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but, I believe there is a rear sump pan assembly that was used on a Bronco or some model truck....can't remember! Another option would be to fab up a custom rear sump pan and oil pick-up tube.
