  1. Most of the single unit electric fans I've seen installed on early Z's, including mine, are offset to the drivers side (left) so the fan motor will clear the water pump pulley assembly. Clearance is roughly 3/4" to 1". This applies for an engine side of the radiator installation. As long as you have at least 1/2" clearance, you should be in good shape.
  2. Nice exhaust system! Looks like its time for a new rear main seal too!!?
  3. Buying a shop manual is a good place to start. At least then you will have a reference to go by. After you change the oil/filter and remove the plugs, you may want to do a compression and leak-down test....it will give you an idea of the condition of the engine internals. Then follow b_sosick's recommendations. Congrates on your first Z!!!
  4. My personal choice......see my photo gallery!
  5. I always have to laugh at these drifter folks, especially if they think they are involved in something new. Drifting has been going on for decades in the USA.....just take a look at all the dirt track boys....now thats getting it sideways!
  6. I don't even think OVERHAULIN would touch that one........find another chassis or you'll spend all your time and college funds fixing it!
  7. I'm sure the vehichle is custom built for some big fat bloke.......you know, extra suspension capabilities and the custom roof rack is for carrying his lunch box!
  8. It was not mentioned but, they are midgets! So, would this Porsche combo actually be called a 988?
  9. "Some people on ebay are jerks"........OK, so whats new about that?
  10. Grumpyvette, Don't you just hate it when you do something and you know the results before you do it and then do it anyway? Go slap yourself two time while standing in front of a mirror.....it will help you to remember next time. Advise from personal experience!
  11. Terry, Did you hear the latest news? HybridZ is changing it's name......just kidding!!!! Love to see the tat pic.
  12. That would be a negative!!! I have about 0.125" clearance between the strut tube and the inside edge of the rim.
  13. I use the straight up, no addatives, SWEPCO 201. Great stuff....at least the factory Porsche guys think so!
  14. LamboZ, I'm running 17 x 9 in the rear with 235-40, under stock fenders with the inner lip rolled, and I believe I'm pretty much at the limit......very close tolerance but no rubbing. I think 275 are a bit too wide to fit. You can view my Z in the photo gallery. And yes I have sectioned strut and coilovers. My wheels have an offset of 35mm and spacers (approx 23 to 24mm) equaling approximately 11 to 12mm overall offset.
  15. After reading all your posts and detecting some frustration, take the friggin car to a reliable mechanic and go play your guitar.....something you may have a handle on.
  16. All old radial aircraft engines have an odd number of cylinders.
  17. Wow, I've never seen anybody move so fast!
  18. It always surprises me when people work on their cooling system, replace parts, and coolant but never consider to chemically flush the system. The inside of your cooling system may look OK but, a very thin layer of corrosion will build up over time and it will prevent good heat transfer from the block to the coolant. Just some food for thought!
  19. Greenlee hole punches have been around a long time and are of good quality.

With all the nonsense aside, it was an interesting but usual race. I thought the negotiator for the Z team maintained his composure quite well under pressure. I was a little surprised on two counts....1)that a HYBRIDZ Z didn't have a bowtie motor in it, and 2) that the state of tuning on the Z wasn't spot on. I just figured with all the talent and knowledge on this sight, the figing Z would have run like a top. Probably the best result of the show was HYBRIDZ's exposure on national TV. Congatulations to all the guys that put forth the effort to prepare the Z and make it happen. P.S. Did anyone notice that the host of the show looked a little nervous during the heated negotiations? He still looks and acts like a bonehead!

I tend to agree with Boobala......not my favorite show. The host of the show looks and acts like a meat-head! The thing that bugs me the most is their formate.....they start a race and then cut to a friggin commercial! Lame!!! However, I'm certainly going to watch the wensday night show. As quoted by the meat-head...."Lets race" (with the I'm so seriously cool look on his face).
  22. Nice work there Justin! Just curious but, is there any particular reason why the plenum is fabricated from such thick aluminum? Kind of heavy don't you think? All looks very nice though.
