  1. Yah, I noticed that right away Tim!!! So folks, don't waste your hard earned cash on a TORNADO (air intake goodie) when you can look cool and gain 20 HP by simply installing the HYBRIDZ decal on your Z.....hard to beat at any price!
  2. I'm no expert on this subject but, the RB25DET is an inline 6 and this conversion has been done more often than a VG30DETT, which of course you know is a V6. For sure the RB25DET will fit in the Z engine compartment, as far as engine width is concerned, easier than the VG30DETT. As far as which conversion is more cost effective.....I can't say. Have you taken the opportunity to search the archives here, on the RB conversion...as it may shead some light on the subject. Someone who has done this conversion may chime in with some answers. Just out of curiousity, where do you young guys get the $$$ to take on such an effort?
  3. You are absolutely correct about the physics of it all.......I guess you didn't see the humor in my comment!
  4. Have that discussion with Valentino Rossi or Matt Maladin!!!
  5. From what I know, the torque of a bolt is based on the bolt design itself. When properly torqued, the bolt (or stud) will stretch a predetermined amount and at that specific torque, provide you with it's maximun safe strength. Going beyond a bolt's design limit overstresses the bolt and can lead to premature failure. If you want more torque on your head, think about purchasing a set of ARP head bolt...and use ARP's recommended torque...and of course a good head gasket.
  6. Somehow I think your SOL!!! It's a tough lesson to learn....letting your emotions stimulate a transaction without doing your homework. The guy you purchased the engine from is what I call a BOTTOM FEEDER....lowlife scum SOB. He took advantage of your youth and inexperience and your emotions pushed you into buying an engine you really wanted but ended up with a hunk-O-junk. Salvage what you can and move on. I would be quite surprised if you get your money back. Did you even get a receipt? I think you can forget about legal action....sorry!
  7. I wouldn't feel guilty about it....you certainly didn't twist his throttle for him and you didn't cause him to run wide in the corner!!! And if by chance you do have the ability to control things....I'd love to have you use your gift to magically breath more HP into my engine. Sounds like the guy just got in over his head. Live and learn!
  8. Hey.....stranger things HAVE happened. In Henry's case it may just be the most economical housing he can afford....get drunk and you are welcome to stay for free...what a deal!
  9. Callit a hunch but, I think ole Henry Earl just likes the juice. Down in the dumps and can't pull himself out of it....defintely could use some help!
  10. Good point Drax! Ok, how about....too much tolerance = play! Or, tolerance = the difference between the allowable maximum and minimum sizes of some mechanical part. Or, tolerance = the amount of variation allowed from a standard specification.
  11. Full scale engine in a 3/4 scale P-51....very cool. Nice gear reduction for the prop! Do you happen to know what airport that is?

    head's ?

If you guys are really interested in which head model is best for a particular application, you may consider giving Dave Rebello a call up in northern California. He is a prominent engine builder with tons of expirience with the L6 engine. You can get his ph# by visiting his website "REBELLO RACING"
  13. Sounds like you should be fine! No play...no problems! Nice work by the way!!
  14. Hitman47, If the kits you are putting together are anything like your spelling, I would be very nervous about purchasing one!!!
  15. Now that's intelligent!!!?
  16. Is it just me, or has anybody else ever wondered what Darius does for a living? Just seems that the cash supply is endless.....I'm jelious!
  17. Jamie, you certainly have a point and from all indications, a vast majority of chassis are now designed to do so. However, what I'm pointing out has mainly to do with the plain and simple correct operation of the modification at the LCA to TC rod attachment. If the the attach point has tolerance and can move about, then it has failed to achieve a design intended not to move in tension and compression. Imagine hauling her down from over 100 mph and having the front end the car darting from side to side because the TC rods are not securing the entire strut assembly from moving for and aft.
  18. Austin, I think what Owen is trying to say (regarding the attachment of the TC rod to the LCA) is, you do not want any play (tolerance) between the two parts. If the LCA can move around, other than the intended pivoting at the inboard joint (up and down) you will be inviting problems to occur.
  19. I don't want to rain on your parade, but if you are looking for performance you may consider a differnt head. IIRC the N47 has the metal shrouds inside the exhaust ports and is, I think, the only L6 head with round ports. An N42, E88 will likey yield better performance....depending on your engine set-up. At least you will have something better to work with if future mods (porting)are planned.
  20. I'm attending again this year, but only as a spectator....I want to spend more time talking to people about their cars instead of hanging around my car and talking about it. As far as a possible little get together of Hybridz folks before the show.....great idea! After attending a B-B-Q at Tim's home, I have to say......had a really nice time, good eats, and especially nice folks with an interest (fringin passion) in Z cars. I'll for sure be wearing my Hybridz T-shirt at the show Sunday.
