  1. I'd be in for a hat and a couple of shirts!!
  2. Damn!!!!!!!!!!! I suppose you're really good at self first aid huh?
  3. I went to an Autozone just done the street to get an alternator tested. The MANAGER asked if what I had in my hand was a starter!! Keep in mind this was a 10SI GM alternator, about the most generic of all.
  4. Big-Phil, it appears that parts of those brackets are made from galvanized steel, be VERY carefull when welding that stuff. Metal fume fever kills Good luck on the airdam recovery efforts.
  5. LS1's were'nt offered in Camaro's until 1998. Check out ls1tech.com second best is ls1.com
  6. Why dont you want to powder coat them? Seems to be the best solution, pc has good abrasion resistance, but not impact resistance if applied too thick.
  7. Dont give up, keep searching and the right deal will present itself. I purchased a 280Z last year for 300 bucks, delivered from Olympia to Bremerton! This car has very minimal rust under the battery, which has been fixed, I'm in the process of rebuilding the engine right now. This is not the everyday deal, but be patient.
  8. Here's a good read before plopping down hard earned cash: http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/
  9. Please, someone tell me they can record this and post it... No digital cable for me, just cheesy basic here. Thanks,
  10. I'm in the loner catagory also. I will go to someone's house to help them, but the guys I help dont know much, so I'm hesitant to let them work on my stuff. I spend most days correcting conceptual errors these supposed "gear-heads" have. Some of these guys actually work on other's cars for money, but dont have a clue. My most common answer when they ask me is "Look it up online" As long as you stay away from crackpot websites, the info is normally pretty good. My .02
  11. Just get the stainless engine bolt set from pallnet and be done with it
  12. Damn!! The reason I say that is it took me a minute to notice the HUGE limb sticking out of the windshield. I was about to post that it sucks to have that crap fall all over the hood (small stuff), then I noticed that it REALLY sucks to have half a tree thru the windscreen. I hope no one was inside...
  13. From what I understand, the industry is moving in this way. The ultimate goal is to use PC as an automobile coating for body panels. There are several hurdles in the way as of now. Coating brittleness when it's too thick (better phrased, coating flexibility), large oven -vs- IR lamps, IE good heating of paint surface, touch up ability, etc... Right now the military is testing low temp powdercoating techniques on fighter aircraft, they're even saying it can be used on wood!! Instead of 425 or so that I use at work, they're talking 200 or so degrees. I think a PC'd car would be interesting, but damn near impossible to touch up. Just my .02 Grant
  14. I think it went on another car originally. Look how the turn signals dont fit well, it looks like the pockets for them are made for something else. Civic??
  15. 25 grand for a pile of rust??? After media blasting or dipping I'd be surprised if anything survived besides the vin tag. Talk about a fixer upper...
  16. Getting impatient on my 2 shirts... I want to wear one!!!
  17. Good point, I'll check with the local machine shop for resizing. Thanks,
  18. I have ARP rod bolts to install, but I'm going to do that after the balancing is done. My plan is to match all big ends to the lightest, then small ends. Then double check overall weight. Along with matching big ends, I'm going to put a very small radius on the bolt head seating surface corner. This was just a mock up, I'm going to level the rod parallel to the ground. In any case, even if it isnt perfectly level, as long as ALL rods are weighed at the same time, the will be the same. Grant
