  1. Congratulations on your first V8Z! Sounds like you may have the Scarab or MSA motor mounts if your dizzy is 3 inches from the firewall, not that either of those is necessarily a bad thing.
  2. Use a long pump!!! I wanted a short pump for its tight packaging but it turned out to be a nightmare. There was no way to mount the alternator (yes, there are ways, but i tried for months and couldn't personally get anything). As soon as I got a long pump I was able to get all my pulleys and alternator brackets and everything went together perfectly. As much as the short pump looks better, it's not worth the hassle!
  3. Sounds like those mufflers are glasspacks to me... very cheap (in more ways than one) and loud. If you like the sound then it's a good way to go. Do a search on this forum, and also on zcar.com for as much about glasspacks on Z's as you need to know.
  4. I think you are confusing the T-5 with the T56 setup... I bought a brand new slave from Kragen by itself. Although it's somewhat moot now that the slave cylinder is out of the picture.
  5. I too used a (mostly) centered fuel cell (actually several inches to the left, because that's where the spare tire well was and it's pointless to take out a lot of material on the right and fill in the hole on the left just to have a symmetrical cell) and the exhaust looks totally badass. I just traced the left side exhaust pipe cutout onto paper and traced that onto the right side bodywork. A little work with a dremel, and it was easy to get symmetrical ctouts.
  6. Mmm, sounds yummy ... though that car leaves quite a bit to be desired.... Wonder how sick it'll be when done. I have actually seen pictures of this swap completed in a much more, ahem, sanitary looking fashion on a different car.
  7. http://www.pivotalengine.com/index.html Like the Stirling and Wankel engines, here's another take on the internal combustion engine. Pretty interesting from what I can see, with water-cooled 'pistons' and a very small case size. I wonder what kind of power per liter it can put out? They ran a 400CC version up to 11,500 RPM! Sounds sweet in a lightweight bike!
  8. If you didn't get any bolts with your kit, I believe that's what you do.... I don't really remember, but the regulator is a soft metal and I think the bolts are 1/4" and you just screw them in there, forcing their own thread.
  9. I got the upper radiator mount and rubber mounts from a V6 camaro. I used the JTR lower rad. member, spaced down 1/2" with a nut, and cut down the upper rad. mount (plastic). I wish I had pictures but it wasn't hard.
  10. Heh heh.. your son has the goped that doesn't even have a motor

  12. ok, you need the T5 bellhousing from a Camaro - this is the 'tilted' housing. it cants the tranny 15 degrees toward the driver. you will need a 153 tooth flywheel (10.5 inch I think?) and the clutch to accompany the flywheel and tranny.
  13. Make sure you take the lock bolt out of the strut housing or the pin really won't go anywhere! It is keyed in and the bold holds it in place.
  14. So what size tires can one use for 17x8s? ZG flares will work, yes? I kinda like the Rhinos... though I was always planning on having a wider rear tire than front.. I wish they came in 9"
  15. OMFG that is such a nice car You do really fast, clean work man... you haven't been working on this that long, have you??
  16. Tell me where I can find a hose that will fit my car that has a spring already installed.. because I searched for a LONG time to find a hose that fit my car and I am not looking forward to narrowing down my search to a hose that has a spring and also fits my car. Also, I am sure my gauge works. Guys, I'm really sorry I can't answer each and every of your ideas...one of these days I will get around to it, I promise. I don't want anybody to feel that they made a helpful contribution that went unadressed and ignored.
  17. Well I discovered that one thing several of you guys pointed out was correct... My lower radiator hose was collapsing. I couldn't get a spring for it so I put a length of PVC pipe inside the hose after triple-checking that it wouldn't melt. I also boiled my thermostat to be sure it's working properly and opening at the right temp (it is). So that problem's solved... it is kinda funny... my temperature goes up and down. Sometimes I will be driving and it will stick at an indicated 180 for the longest time, and then it will go up to 210 and stick there. Like today I drove up a long hill and it stayed at 180 and on the way back down with the car basically idling it was at 210? It stayed at 210 until i brought it home and never moved even when I let it sit and idle for 5 minutes. I dunno, I just wish it would pick a temperature to sit at and sit there without ever fluctuating, it makes me nervous
  18. Geez you guys are all so helpful I don't know where to start Thanks, everyone for your replies so far, I am going to make a list of all the possible problems and try to check each one before I go back to school...
  19. I am kinda just thinking of getting a better fan...
  20. There are 400hp+ Hayabusas that have trouble getting past 240. The problem is with drag. Compare a 'busa to that bike and ummm... that bike has basically no aerodynamics.... I don't even think you can call it a bike... it has four wheels..
  21. What a joke, 400mph NO WAY maybe if it had the most radical slipstream body in the world and way more power.. this has been discussed on the sportbike forums...

    My new L6

That is a TOUGH little bastard!! That must be a fun ride! I've always dreamed about a hot NA L6 but I guess I'm a cheater and just went V8
  23. Before I address all the other suggestions made here (and some great ones they are, thank you very much guys) I am curious about the total advance setting - is this set with the vacuum advance plugged or unplugged?
