  1. What oil did you use? Did you pull the oil through w/ vacuum? I'd love to do the same thing you did and have working a/c again!
  2. Bump on this... woldson, how's the a/c system running? I've been doing research for months on R12 replacements (Freeze 12, propane, R134A, etc). Many people say you HAVE to replace the evaporator, and you MUST change the o-rings, but I can't find anyone saying anything about their R134a conversion after they have done it (minus this thread).
  3. pft... lemme venture a guess, high school buddy special? 3 years of extreme use... for a mediocre speaker... I'd give $20 for both... $30 it's a pro built box. If it's a homemade ported box, it's crap.
  4. Oh man that spinout was good! I don't think he finished that way for kicks... I think he was screaming "0h sh****t!!!!" He did have it recovered tho...
  5. I personally just pull the motor ... I don't like doing extra unnecessary work. Dropping the motor & tranny back in at a huge angle just doesn't sound fun to me. 5 minutes of pushing & levering the motor back on to the trans is enough.
  6. They are the same controls for turbo & n/a ... many people are running 10+ psi boost on a conversion... They just don't move on + boost ... only vacuum.
  7. Differential Sticky #1: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=131008 Differential Sticky #2: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=114798 Enjoy.
  8. I agree 110%. I've actually pondered selling all my cars & buying an E39 M5 several times. Since everybody is sharing their Bimmers... This is my E36: and my Saab 900SE Turbo
  9. Anywhere hoses connect to, cannot just be left open.
  10. Homemade? If I could find a spare and shorten it to ~1.5ft, that might work....
  11. Here's my 2 pennies... welding aluminum w/ a traditional MIG can be a biotch. Hopefully your (EDIT... Lincoln, not Miller) is a 220v because 110v won't cut it. I was dead set on converting my Lincoln to weld aluminum, but after a 2 hour talk w/ the welder guys at Praxair, the only realistic solution is to buy a spool gun. I mentioned that I've read online that you can just covert to a nylon liner, but pushing soft alum for 3 feet will bind VERY easily. You also have to change out your groove roller. Also... remember that you have to pre-heat the aluminum before welding.
  12. It's called a BOOST CONTROLLER. Take your pick: Electronic or Manual. That goes to the back side of your air regulator (which is wide open in your pic). EDIT: I also suggest using an L28ET throttle body so you don't have a massive vacuum leak.
  13. http://www.machv.com/hksveinpresc1.html +30hp is all hype (IMO).
  14. 5 years! That's like half a decade! Many regulars have been here for 9-10 years....
  15. You can get it the same place you get all Z parts... Nissan, BDA, MSA, Autozone, Checker, Kragen, etc. Checky: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/catalog/parts/partsProduct.jsp?itemIdentifier=341504_0_0_6205&skuDescription=Duralast+/+Oil+Temperature+Switch&brandName=Duralast&displayName=Oil+Temperature+Switch&categoryNValue=15399999&sortType=null&store=852&isSearchByPartNumber=false&fromWhere=null&fromString=search&itemId=prod11697&navValue=15301608&filterByKeyWord=oil&productId=341504&appQuestionText=With+turbocharger&searchText=&categoryDisplayName=External+Engine&parentId=cat10010&questions=
  16. 1x2's and 2x4's. Line them up in front of the tires and drive up onto them. Pretty sophisticated eh?
  17. I was looking for one last fall. My local Nissan parts guy said there were "maybe" two in the USA, one back East & one in Cali. Instead of waiting two weeks for a definite answer, I rummaged through some of my gaskets and found that one of my used 325i oil filter o-rings works like a champ. Cut to size & use a dab of RTV.
  18. Hurray for lacquer thinner! Hurray for paint stripper! Hurray for a screwdriver that can scratch paint off.
  19. OEM is gloss black... as for the color you choose, that's up to you since it's your motor.
  20. w00t!!! You'll never go back to bolts. I was smiling during the whole installation of mine. I think I even let out a few cackles.
