    S2000 Swap

FINALLY   I love that you're doing this, and I think I love you for it Did my F20C thred help this desision at all? (just trying to increase my hat size) I'm personally a big fan of the changes honda made to the suspension (02' i think) as it helped the car's turning at all speeds and softended the street ride a bit. But getting one that new would be expensive, even if it was damaged. I'd personally go supercharged, JUST because it keeps the power linear and keeps the curve very close to stock. And with the increase in HP keeping it in the sweet spot shouldn't be hard. Should be EXTREMELLY streetable. I've only spent a couple of hours under S2ks, so I can't tell you honestly if the suspension would even come close to fitting. Wish I could help you there. So if you're going with the S2k dash are you going to mod the firewall at all to made it a true midship?
  2. WOW, how did I miss that episode! I couldn't stop crying dude, that was great.
  3. Those turbo motors are crap. The NA ones are REALLY good. Lucky you, you now have friend willing to swap motors with you at no cost, ME! Welcome to the board. So what's the plans for the ZX? Autox, drag, drift, or just a cruiser? We seem to be getting more of us ZX people on here recently. All for the better I think. This site could use some more resources on ZX tech.
  4. fox body hatch 5.0s were 2834 between 90-93. I think the earlier foxes were slightly lighter, but not significantly. The 65-66 is one of the lightest mustangs ever made. Remeber, this is a car so small ford couldn't put a production big block work in becuase they would have had to make serious modifications that wouldn't be cost effective. But making an 11 sec Z isn't too hard Just make sure he's not throwing parts on his mustang without telling you You don't want to build a 11 sec Z then get beat.
  5. I learned on a 87' integra. Real easy to drive and I didn't let anyone teach me. I "knew" how to drive stick most my life, just never did it for real. I didn't have any problems getting a feel for what it was really like. I was able to clutchless shift that car within my first year of driving, but I still can't clutchless shift my ZX. Might have to do with the snycos not being in great shape.
  6. The sequetial tail lights that ford produced where mechanical switches and very heavy. Many people that put the "shelby" (same tail lights) tail lights in thier mustangs use an aftermarket system that's electronic. But I'm not sure if it would work for LEDs. I'm 100% sure the t-bird had the sequential lights, but I can't remember if the cougar did. The cougar didn't share tail lights many years, so to find an origonal with the sequential option (it wasn't a standard feature) could prove diffucult. At any rate it's a popular mod in the ford muscle circles. Shouldn't be too hard to dig up some info on them. Edit: Did some searching and yes the cougar did come with sequentials Most of the sequential setups I found are only designed for 3 phases. http://mustangmonthly.com/howto/173_0404_ford_tail_light_install/ http://www.sequentialtaillights.com/ There are also some LED lights out there that are full sequential, but they're limited is shape & size. http://www.watsons-streetworks.com/leds_plus.html I think it would be alot more work, but you could always setup a custom LED controller. http://www.oznium.com/zen?sid=f2e84d20bcf28531f753abe2aa0c907f
  7. At the oakland sideshows (never been, but i know a guy who helped start them) they would often put small milk crates under the tires. 100% guanentee they'll stay on, and they slide well too. I bet cafiteria trays would work well to, until they wear away.
  8. I've watched someone roll a Z on cops. If you can roll a Z you can roll anything. The guy was probly flying like I said earlier. And again, 60 mil?! I'd gladly take 10 million if someone in my family was killer for a LEGITIMATE reason. 60 million is WAY too much in my opinion.
  9. our house just apraised for 550k, and it's around 1600 sf.... I'm retiring (come age 30) to a place where houses are that cheep. If it gets lonely you could have a national Z meet there
  10. whata buch of bull. HE FELL ASLEEP! WTF mate? And his life is worth 60 mil? I should go crash in our explorer. I can't believe how pathetic some lawsuits are nowdays. I bet he was going at least 80mph when he lost control. Almost any suv will roll at that point.
  11. well, i've been parked next to a few Z31s, and they're quite a bit shorter. The hight of the body at the firewall would be the main problem, it's gotta be several inches lower. You might end up having to do extensive work just so it fits. If you really want to drift safe, get a FULL intergrated cage on the entire car, so you don't have to worry about warping the chassis too much, then just get good at body repair Bottom line is that in drifting you WILL hit something eventually, it's just a question of when. Maybe you'll be luck for a year, maybe ten, but it WILL happen. Even the pros wreak and hit walls and cars. If you're gonna drift on the edge, you're bound to hit it eventually. (all that said, I love to drift in my 280zx 8) )
  12. Or maybe "I want a ticket red." It does look clean and sexy though.
  13. Drftn280zxt: I don't have any real drawing skills, so I'm limited to photochop & 3ds max (wich i'm not bad with, I used to make my 3d models for games with 3ds). I've only got a chassis mockup but it was planed for a S30. Since i'm gonna make my S130 my project I'm going to redo all my design, expecially since it's going to have different goals. The body desgin will be a PAIN, but I'll get eventually. Once the design in done in 3ds it'll look kick butt though.
  14. Sounds like a fun idea though. This guy is putting a 1UZFE V8 in a 72 carolla, I posted the link in my 1uzfe thred so you might have seen it already http://1uzfe.com/
  15. Do I hear the angels singing? I think God agrees this is a a righteous swap. Man it's clean. I love the intercooler/radiator mount. Friend of mine just finished a V IC/rad setup on his FD, really helps weight distro. I'd love to see some pics once it's all finished (body and all). EDIT: just saw the pics from the post above, dang I'd hate to race against that. Looks wicked man.
  16. I've always wanted to put a 13B in a triumph GT6. But as I've gotten older (maybe a bit wiser) i've started to find alot of things about the lines of the GT6 that I don't like. But it would still be a fun swap. EDIT: PS, the SR swap in the MGB looks sweet. I'd like to find out what all was done in the swap for fitment.
  17. I can believe the S2k swap, but I'd like to see it. Pretty good sized engine bay.
  18. You know, I've been trying to get that headlight idea into my head for a while now. I think it would looks sick to widen the headlight buket up a little (if you're going ultra wide like i've got in my mind) and do a two or three light setup within a cover. Maybe something like this headlight but longer to fit the ZX look. http://factoryfive.com/table/ffrkits/GTM/gallery/images/GTM-BDETAIL48-Art-Sp.jpg But yea, you've got alot of great things going on in that first concept. I've got a much smoother look in my mind for a ZX, but I think it would be awsome to see that car on the street. We need some more ZX guys on this board. I guess we'll just have to be the pioneers that start the ZX revolution
  19. pic number one. because it looks like be belongs on an episode of initial D... ...honestly though, it's the perfect old school look for the ZG flares I think. The rim in the real life pic don't look very bronze, I had subaru bronze in mind when you asked for the pic... Maybe I'll go try again.
  20. So is she rich? I'd have to REALLY be head-over-heels to move unless she was making enough money to support me (not looking for a full ride, but the change to be sustained while looking for career work, not burger joint crap). My only advise is to make sure you two are on the same plane. Is she down to earth? Easy to talk to, ect, ect. But testing the waters is a good idea. Smart move, just try not to get caught up in emotions. Seek wisdom, not will. And the lanuage thing shouldn't be to give of a deal. My vocabulary seems to almost entirely depend on who I'm with, it's a skill you can learn. Just think before you speak. Good Luck! And show her what 150mph feels like (on the track of course )
  21. My brother got pulled over doing 23 in a 25 zone. Cop said he clocked him going 32. He had radared a different car so my brother faught it and one since the cop didn't have a shred of evidence. Other than that I've never heard of getting pulled over for anything less than 10 over. I'll drive way over speed limit, but I won't weave throught traffic or drive exessivly fast at night or in neighborhoods. I try to be sensible about my speed. I don't find myself going faster than traffic very often. But you're right bastaad, maybe 10% of people in CA go anything close to speed limit. And the people that do 65 on the freeway get honked at. As long as they're not in the fast lane they don't bother me Back on thred topic Still no buyer? Hey, I've got a job now but it's for a friends small 2 person partnership. They needed someone to handle clients to grow the biz since they both have full time jobs. So I might have some money once things get rolling but that could still be a while. Now the bad news.......... I don't think I'm gonna buy a S30 anytime soon. I want to be one of the few people with a really awsome S130. Too many people look down on them. I see lots of potential for them. If I get a S30 I'd end up putting a motor in it that would have me paranoid all the time. Plus I'm gonna build a street friendly weekend autox'er, so I think starting with a slightly bigger car with more luxury options to begin with will help. I'm still planning out alot, but my mind is pretty set. So in light of this bad news... I hope you can find a buyer man. It seems like a great car, and I hope one day to see you in a 400hp street driven SRT4 8)
  22. Well, somebody has to be the village idiot.
  23. Like others have said, fight it and say not guilty. I havn't heard of anyone getting a worst penalty because they pleaded not guilty (at least here in CA). But, many times the cop doesn't show up wich means you win by default. Usually you can get it down to a minimal moving violation and they'll let you go to traffic school to get the point off your license. There's a slew of things you could pitch them. Unless they got you on radar they got nothing to pin you with. Better yet, they have to of been behind you when they took the reading. CHP has to fallow you for a minimum of 1/4 mile while you're speeding for it to be a 100% proof radar read. So like others have said, go clean cut, look good, and try to walk out of there in a better position.
  24. That's the kind of green I want my future S30 project to be. Now if only I could get a S30 and a place to work on it...
