  1. I wear this forum like a badge man. I can't believe I ever found such an awsome group. This site is the only thing that makes me proud to be a Z owner. Most Z guys i'd met in the past where stuck up pisswads that thought thier 350 powered Z would beat anything out there, wich really made me worried to get into Zs. But you guys made it worth it, you're the cream of the crop of Z owners, and car owners in general too. That said, I'm surprised I havn't been banned yet I feel like I know nothing compared to most here yet I find myself babling on about something I think I know about all the time. I'm surprised I havn't gotten flamed more often (although, i don't really recall ever getting flamed, corrected maybe, but that's different). PS (off topic) The SRT4 is much more a neon then an EVO is a Lancer. At least an EVO is AWD and has differnt hood, trunk, engine, interior, ect. The only thing that's the same is the basic chassis. I don't know a ton about the SRT4, but I thought the main changes didn't really do a TON for the car stock. Did they put any lighter body panels on? Did they really make the suspension all that much better? Does the interior really work for racing? I should just go take one for a test drive, so i can get my own opinions about the car straight. Truth about it though, is that america needs to step up to the plate and make a REAL performance 4 door. I love the STI & EVO but I'm getting sick and tired of everyone telling me that the only way i'll ever be able to buy a performance car that I can keep once I get married (no time soon I hope) is if I buy one of these TWO cars. Don't I have more options than that?
  2. So maybe I SHOULD take a road trip to the LA area....
  3. And thus your headers take a beating because it's got fuel igniting inside of it... I've seen first hand what happens when you put a system like that on normal headers. It blows the headers into pieces in no time. Now think about what you're subjecting your turbo to with that. Get ready to be rebuilding the turbo every month, if not more often then that.
  4. Forget the road trip, just pack up and leave man. A dude's gotta be able to spread his seed man.
  5. Performance jobs are so much fun. And superchargers although forced induction still offer a linear powerband almost identical to a NA motor. (you probly new this, i'm just stating it so it gets said) Is the camry v6 aluminium? If so i'd call it a good swap.... get the z done dude.
  6. Yea, pretty much all dvd players have an mp3 codec. But a dvd player will be just as expensive as an ipod with accessoried. And an ipod will go everywhere with you.
  7. The only problem is that the managment at your job has a microscopic view of a telescopic realm. They're in a whole nother world man, and it certainly ain't reality.
  8. Ok, since other people have started getting serious I guess I post some serious comments as well. Drifting is 100% about balance. A car's weight balance will directly effect how you drift. Ever seen a MR car drift? They have a hard time drifting at slow speeds. Front biased cars can tend to swing out to easily. You can drift in any car (yes, even FF cars) it's just finding a car that fits your style. If you're serious about getting into drifting, I command you to go buy a 240SX for dirt cheep. Don't worry if the interior is shot, just make sure the engine and suspension are in good working order. Put some good tires on it and take it to the track. Get sideways. Learn to drive. Leave the drifting at the track. Learn to drive. THEN you can start a Z project. A 240SX has nearly perfect balance making it easy to drift with. It's a great learning car. Another great car to learn in is a 86, but they're getting harder to find and more expensive. It sound VERY stereotypical, i know. But I'm serious. Solid rear axle, low HP and not too much weight. It's hard to make the car speratic. It's very responsive and gives you lots of feelback. The steering has some nice weight to it, so you really feel traction loss well. You also feel understeer with ease. The 240SX has many of the good qualities that the 86 has, but it's quite cheep and has a slew of aftermarket support. I'd say try to find a 240SX without a LSD first. Although LSD is almost required, you'll be better if you learn to drift without LSD. So, what do you drive now?
  9. Wow.... Don't want to use CDs? CDs are MUCH more reliable than tapes will ever be. The skipping issue is realative to the deck & the mounting of the deck. A good player will never skip. And if stored CORRECTLY (do you ever store a tape with the tape coming out of the case?) then they don't get scratched either. AND they're cheeper. You can get cd's bulk for less than $.13 a cd. Each cd will hold at least 5 albums maybe as many as 12 albums depending on size of album and mp3 quality. Now... I plan to go a totally different route. I'm basically going to put a small comuter in my car with a SATA hard drive. SATA hard drives are hot swapable, so I don't really have to worry about pulling it out while the car is on or turning the car on without the hard drive then inserting it later with the car running. It'll have a small LCD, but any size LCD could be used. The best part it that all if it will weight less than 10 pounds. Although it won't be cheep, it will be MUCH cheeper per GB than any mp3 player on the market. It will also be fairly large, unless I go with a laptop hard drive (wich defeats the purpose IMHO beucase it will double the price). 300 GB and will be around $500 for the complete setup. Granted there will be a bit of fabrication & programing required on my end.
  10. Sounds like you new place is a nice little town in the sticks grumpyvette. But that's not a bad thing really. A person on my street got a ticket for parking on the street between 8am-5pm due to street sweep (it's odd that a cop even came by to give the ticket) and then the street sweeper never came by....... Wow... I would take THAT to court.
  11. I've carried a minimum of a 3 inch retractible blade since I was 12. It's a tool, not a weapon. Amazing how many people don't see it that way.
  12. WOW.... Did you know that the S130 ZX cars have coil overs on all 4 corners? Have you ever looked at the suspention of a ZX? Oh, and PS... there is no such thing as a "drift setup"
  13. I thought there weren't women where you lived drhunt. I guess the only boobies you'll be seeing sway will be your own. Awshucks.
  14. Foose? Gaudy? Well, maybe some of his stuff. I thought eleanor was the sexiest beast on wheels though.
  15. True, in theory I could eliminate most of those noises. BUT, in many cars I wouldn't be able to hear those things. I really should change my diff. fluid though. Probly my tranny fluid too.
  16. Almost sounds as bad as being a teacher Tearing up furniture with an axe sounds awsome though. The work situations sure sounds like it sucks. I hope you find a better job man.
  17. Mine's could be considered a "rice hype" word, but they're known for making pretty much the best setup you can get for a R34 GTR... I'm sure you COULD make a better skyline, but thier's is realms better than the other shop versions out there. But I see his point. From the pics it looks like a nice swap though.
  18. S130 quiet? Hmm the S30 must be DANG loud people. My S130 seems LOUD. I hear the tranny with ease, I hear vibrations in my brake pads, I head my diff howl at certain speeds, I hear my small exhast leak click, I could even hear my swap bar bouce due to dead bushings, but I removed it. If all the factory S30s are that bad then I feel sorry for you guys. I still can't fathom why you couldn't use a window frame with the factory t-tops... I plead ignorance. I'm an idiot. Someone explain.
  19. I think it needs some brightening. That car is worth less than the 6x12 feet of dirt it sits on.
  20. Well, there might be a slight problem if the bank in question was short the cash... Maybe I could pass the idea of a graduation present...................................... ...LOL, I don't think it would ever pass. BUT i'm gonna make the humorous pitch just for you man. Mainly because I'd love the excuse for a road trip to see the car.
  21. If he can't wait for a check/money order/ect to clear then he doesn't have a car, period. My dad recently had a check fraud issue with someone trying to buy his eclipse. Luckly they wrote the amount wrong so we HAD to fallow up on the buyer and they turned tail and ran. Police told us that it's a new wave of fraud nowdays, to send fake checks for cars since it's essencially boosting a car. The cars then go to chop shops. Now, I can't see much value in a Z, but I guess it could still happen nonetheless. I'm not trying to scare you, just letting you know a piece of truth. Also, if someone was interested this fast, then odds are someone else will come along in no time.
  22. 'IF' he has a pikes peak escudo..... wich i assume was his point. There have been documented motor builds of the RS200 getting well over the 600HP range. And with how light they are and AWD, you're guarenteed a 0-60 less than 2.5. The real killer is the 60-0 times are insane.
  23. Ok, For the first time in my... 3 years of Z obesession I JUST realised that the S30 Z's have window tracks. This really pisses me off. Why didn't they use window tracks on the ZX cars? It's the No. 1 source of road noise in my car. I've made sure they fit 110% better than factory and still I get wind noise at freeway speed. I may as well not have any windows at all! Why did nissan do this! I don't understand the logic.
