  1. Honestly, now that i think about it... It doesn't bother me THAT much. I have much bigger beafs with smog laws than companies engine ideas. I can't wait to see a 400HP NSX on the street.
  2. That actually makes sence. Since many states like california have people who's sole purpose is to clean up roadkill. If you could get the people that want to do it to do it, then you save tons of money. But it still sounds a little too far into the deep end for me.
  3. My brother recently got into real estate and will be buying an evo once he startes getting an even flow of buisness. I think they're AWSOME. I think they're the best bang for the buck car in existance. Some might argue that point. But nobody in thier right mind would argue that they're THE BEST speed/practicallity car on the market. I also think thier active yaw control AWD system kills any other AWD system on the market. Most reviewers that actually take this car to the track for autox like how it behaves alot like a RWD car but lets you stomp on it much earlier in the turn. I think they're the pinnacle of AWD in the realistically priced car range.
  4. You say it might take a year and a half to complete the M6. Well, if you stick around here during the rest of the project i'm sure you won't run out of things to learn in a year and a half. I'm continuously amazed at the overall high qualiy of the information on this site. And your chevy friends might not look so harshly about the Z project once they realise how dang fast the car is I can seem like a purist at times, about certain things. But I can appreciate anything fast, even if the car doesn't have my first pick of engine for the project. I've learned that everyone has thier own taste and the purist only wants other people to have thier taste. The world would be boring if such were true.
  5. About constantine. I meant that it had utterly no effect on me. And I enjoyed it while other people walked out of the movie theater saying "what did i just see?" becuase it's just not what people are used to (to some extent). I liked a clock work orange, good movie. full metal jacket was awsome silence of the lambs kinda freaked me out when I first watched it... but i was like 6 years old. I like it now. In fact, i enjoyed the whole hannibal series. American psycho is great. Never did see memento. We netflixed it and it got sent back too quickly. Everyone thougt I'd seen it... Saw the ring on the plane trip back from england. We had bad turbulance, wich made the movie quite scary at the time, but looking back at it, it wasn't too bad. The other movies i'm gonna have to look into for sure, due to the calibur of the rest of the list
  6. good freggin' point bsosick. And i see what brandon means. There's just something about a big engine in a small car that creates an unspeakable aura that people either love or hate. With the price difference between the RWD skylines and the GTRs i've always wondered why they didn't just but a larger motor in and knock the price up a couple of grand.
  7. That's what 'I' was talking about. For sure. (fo sho for you youngens... wait... i'm one of them... darn...)
  8. well, considering I ate constantine with a silver spoon and found sin city "enlightening" I doubt much can phase me. But I DO look foward to renting it. I've said it a million times and I'll say it again. I'd rather watch a movie I've never seen that I know I won't like than watch a movie that I've seen a thousand times and still love. There's just something to be said about that new movie feeling.
  9. The used luxury market is booming. And most of the 4cl sedans are commuters. Go to concord, where in every driveway lurks at least one if not two SUVs and usually a luxury car. I've never gone more than ten minutes in concord without seeing a 40k+ car. I saw a ford GT come into a SF dealership and sell within a week. Even down the street from me, in a not so nice area, there are houses with multiple SUVs. Just down the street is a house that bought two escalades within a 6 month period (i know the guy there and I'm 90% sure he's a dealer). I went to the golf course the other day... not a single sedan in the parking lot. ALL SUVs. And it was a full parking lot.
  10. I've been told two different things by 2 different cops. One said all windows could be tinted up to 15%. The second I know personally and trust a little more said any window other than the front side windows and windshield can be tinted, and to any amount of tint. And even if a cage is illegal in CA i know people with cages that have been pulled over without issues. But the insurance is definatelly something to look into.
  11. First C6 I saw on the street that looked like a cool guy owned, I pulled up next to and gave a hearty rawkfist m/ and reved a bit and give him a "nice ride" node. As i watched him downshift and take off I thought "I'll need a bit more HP to even think about it... too bad, seemed like a nice guy..."
  12. :raises hand: i'll be a guinee pig z-tard. But i doubt much could shock me. Just for that i'm gonna go rent the movie
  13. Yet most californians own luxury cars or suvs (in the urban areas at least) I don't think it would cange much here if gas prices when up either. I think the japanese are just more reserved people with thier income. Almost all americans are in debt. And they're on average spending more money than they make. Japanese just don't have a society quite like that.
  14. Sure, until to the local autorities find out...
  15. Gollum

    Wow

I think too many people in the military have too few things to spend money on.
  16. The bald eagle chasing the duck reminds me of a friend who randomly had a seagul play chicken with him. Literally flew in a straight line right into the windshield in a 200ft dash for suicide.... Windsheild was fine, making it a roll over laughable story later that day.
  17. BACK FROM THE DEAD BUMP!!! Well, i've been checking out this guys cardomain page on a monthly (sometimes more than that) basis. I can't explain how much enjoyment I get looking at his work. I think the car deserves his name once it's done, there won't be much "z" left. I hope he's reading this becuase I'd seriously plan a vacation out to sweden to fit some drool time in with this Z. Just plain awsome work. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/645045/1 There's the link incase anyone missed it from the first page.
  18. Hmm, the mist is a good idea. Is it the STI that uses a mist system? Or was it the masdaspeed6 prototype? I can't remember. But from what i've been told it can make a huge difference, expecially if the water resivoir was kept in a cool place with ice. But it's the same idea as perspiration, the water on the IC & radiator will make the flowing air have a greater effect on the temp.
  19. I'd go for the 280ZX, but i'm horribly biased, i own one. I like the look of the ZX, the Z31 looks too 80's for my taste. (flame me now type comment, i know) but the ZX just looks classic by comparison. I'd look at weight more than anything. If you're gonna add a full cage maybe to want a chassis that's lighter to begin. Is is possible to be too stiff for a project? Just a though. If you're doing a totaly tear down rebuild from the ground up I'd say the probly have the same potential (just an educated guess) since either car would be improved leaps and bounds beyond the stock car. But i agree that you should just go with what you like.
  20. Many of the great ideas of motor history were imagined by individuals. Sure, race teams make leaps and bounds for knowledge, but there's something to be said for backyard pioneering. And honestly, if more people pursued getting custom blocks cast then more people would be able to afford having thier own custom casts made. Back in the 50's nobody would have thought that in the future you could completly rebuild your motor with aftermarket parts. They were pretty much stuck with what the factory provided for alot of parts. The point i'm getting to is that although the car guy community doesn't have a HUGE push on the automotive future we have a HUGE influence on the aftermarket community. We dictate thier sales. And if companies like greddy could make money on quad TB intake systems for SR motors they'd make them. if WE supply the demand, they'll make the parts. And he has a real point for making a replacement motor for planes. I don't understand alot about plane engines or planes in general, but I do know that if there's a limited supply of engines that's running out someone else will get to finding a replacement before he does. All the more reason for him to get on this idea. Inovation is the road to greatness. Try telling einstein different. PS, this post wasn't meant to undermine your point at all. It was a very valid point. I'm just trying to show that there's more things he's after than just a final power output result.
  21. There's ALWAYS more to learn about everything. I bet you're a 10 times better photographer than me though. I just know good photos when I see them. I've done lots of photo editing in the past and done lots of work with real-time interactive simulation programs, so I've learned to see the little things I really like the 4th pic. It does a good job of making the car look extended without being overdone. Very nice.
  22. Don't worry, my Z is safe, and it was the car I was driving. Driving back from a friends house I was taking one of my favorite roads back (the only road, unless i wanna drive through 2 cities out of the way) and taking 30 MPH turns as 50-60, having some good fun blairing the new project 86 CD. Good times. And i was thinking "you know, this is a pretty woodsy stretch of road, I bet they get deer around here." Litterally 2 turns later there's a deer trying to cross the street. Lucky it was a SMART deer. It was crossing at an angle away from my car and was right in the middle of the street when my headlights came upon it, it turned left and started facing away from my car giving PLENTY of room to get by on the right of him. Antlers we about 2 feet from my car. Scary enough, but it was such a blast driving that road i was care free less than 10 seconds later. So, anyone wanna share deer stories? Just so i don't feel so alone or anything? Here's the google pics of where it happened. Note: They're doing contruction on that road so it's about 80% of the width it is in the pic. They've got the whole south side sholder coned off. Not that it matters, just thought I'd add that piece of info. I love posting thumbnails to be 56k friendly. Just click the image and you'll get a larger one. PS. I don't know exacly how fast i was going, but i was in 4th at around 3500 RPM from the sound of the engine. Not quite sure where that puts me. I'll check tomarrow getting on the freeway. But I had my brights on and right before the turn I realised I'd have to downshift so I tuned my brights off as I downshifted because I knew I wouldn't be able to turn them off mid-turn if someone came up. Sounds like a slow process, but it was a fluid motion that was all done in the time it takes to make a quick downshift.
  23. i bet he doesn't. Nice pics though sparky. You have a real eye (and that's from a guy that considers himself an artist), if you have other photo art i'd like to see it.
  24. Gotta love google earth 8) Sucks for the biker man. But it's pretty darn funny that it happened so soon after you called it. I'm about to start a thred on how i almost hit a dear after thinking "i bet they get a fair amount of deer out on this road" and bam, deer in the headlights.
