  1. I guess we all like things that go boom (well, not my engines). I was thinking of taking some time to flyfish in Alaska, and unlike here, where we only have black bears that are afraid of people, grizzlies are a real worry. You can't just say "boo" and get rid of them. I know a lot of fishing guides carry the .454 Casul, and I was thinking of getting a revolver. I like the ability to use the .45 acp for practice. I usually practice with a Glock 22 (.40 SW). It's probably wishful thinking that I could protect myself with any gun, since if a grizz wanted to eat me, I would probably pee in my pants and have no chance of hitting the thing. I don't like the idea of pistol hunting, but if that's all you are allowed, practice, practice, practice (I average about 500 rounds a week, mostly rimfire rifle). I prefer hunting with large caliber rifles that deliver a lot of energy so the animals won't suffer. I wish more places would allow rifles.
  2. Nice to see another turbo v8. I think it's very clean. What kind of turbo is that?
  3. Well, that's why I had to post the picture. I had to get us back on the original subject.
  4. Just doing my part for mankind. All I ask in return are some nice car parts. Consider this thread officially hijacked.
  5. Well, I do liposuction also, so I guess I do suck. I don't like it as much, but when I add implants up top and do some suction to make a woman's waist impossibly small, I guess I've done my part to maintain equilibrium in the universe.
  6. Nice car, but as someone pointed out on the RX7 forums, that's not an RX7. It's a purpose built tube frame with a body that looks like an FD3S. Otherwise, they have nothing in common. It's kinda like saying a Nascar GTO is just like the GTO you can drive off the showroom floor. That being said, I love that thing. I wonder why it's for sale again. I thought it sold before.
  7. You're right about the fact that I'm plotting to someday boost the thing. It is addictive. Fortunately, it's very difficult boost an RX7 and keep everything under the stock hood. That's why I've decided to go all motor on this project, and that's why I went with more displacement when the opportunity presented itself. Besides, the FD3S is better suited as a track car, and boost isn't as helpful in this situation.
  8. I was just drooling over this block but I decided to get an LS7 shortblock instead. Now I'm waiting for the Warhawk LS7 heads. The flow numbers out of the box are freaking amazing.
  9. Those are exactly the same things they said about it at Torquecentral, the hybrid RX7 site. The price runup was suspicious, the performance vs horsepower numbers were suspect, and bottom line....nice car.
  10. Nealio, I think the good Doctor is right. By the way, what is your engine/tranny setup?
  11. I don't rewire nature. I simply add volume to the universe. That's my job. As they say....there's no replacement for displacement.
  12. So that's why I can't seem to separate my work and my hobbies. My cars and patients have the same physical attributes!
  13. I'm a know nothing and I was able to do the wiring. A bit of advice though. The LS2 harness is pretty much stand alone as it is, so it won't be much of a problem. Don't create one like I did and rip out a perfectly good chassis wiring system because you think it's old. If it works OK, keep it. Using the Painless Harness is pretty easy and it did teach me a lot. They have a pretty good book on automotive wiring also. I got it at Barnes and Noble.
  14. I just glued the mount that came with the Autometer Tach in the stock hole using my favorite substance....silicone glue.
  15. I think it will give a whole new meaning to HEMI-as in half the normal number of cylinders. Can you imagine someone pulling up to your Dodge Ram asking...."Ya gotta HEMI in there?"
  16. This inspires me to start a Hybrid 4 banger forum, swapping in 4 bangers into muscle cars form the sixties. I think it will really take off.
  17. I don't trust Festiva's. I've had my head handed to me on more than one occasion.
  18. Heck, that ain't nothin'. My Honduh Civic makes that kind of power with a cat back and a cold air intake. I run 9's in the quarter and outrun Mustangs, Vettes all the time. My friend with a Viper won't race me.
  19. That's why I love these cars. Throw in a decent engine, run off an 11.7 without breaking a sweat!
  20. Nice clean install. At first glance, I couln't even tell it was a big block
  21. That's why it took so damn long to get my car running. Sure you can stuff a couple of turbos in there, but doing so and keeping everything in there that needs to be there was the hard part, along with adding a decent sized intercooler. Looks like a case of someone who started the project and got tired of banging his head against a brick wall.
  22. What's wrong with dirty old men running around with young babes? I'll tell you what's wrong. THE WIFE SAYS I DON'T GET TO BE ONE OF THEM !
  23. The dark Sith master speaks. .....your humble servant.
