  1. that manifold looks the goods, i wll probly have to replace mine with one like that when i get a hi-mount turbo so i can get rid of the cross over pipe.
  2. i would suggest it means ported Intake Manifold
  3. th reason it wont work for an RB20 is the intake ports are different shape, size and location, and the bolts dont line up. for the cost of buying the Greddy manifold and modding it to fit, you could get a better suited custom job.
  4. I wouldnt call the GT35R a 'small street turbo', heh, or are you running on something else now?
  5. i have never seen an off the shelf unit for the RB20, but it is easy enough to get one made to replace the top half of the manifold.
  6. well done mate. Are you going to run at the Jamboree this year? if so i look forward to seeing it. I might even have to come up and have a chat with you.
  7. Looks good mate Those Spool rods a aparently quite good, and i have heard a fair bit of good stuff about them. Good luck with the build
  8. all that money to get a good tune and more power from what you already have. and i am not really a fan of atmo BOVs, i am putting a filter on mine because there is no where for it to plumb back to.
  9. ^^^^^ search buddy, we even have an RB section of the forum. also, see my sig
  10. hmm, i missed that affordable bit, this would not be the cheapest swap. how much power are you looking at, what are you using the car for? There are other easier options that i feel would be alot easier on the Budget for you. Another note, when doing a budget, take you original cost, now add atleast 20% extra for the things you have forgotten, i would add more like 40% though.
  11. or have it go to atmosphere and get an aftermarket ECU that runs on MAP and TPS
  12. there is another thread currently discussing this in 'Other Engines' have a read throught that first
  13. i dont think you have to bore it that much, you are only gaining .2L from the bore, spread over 6 cyls, i think it is only a 1 or 2 mm overbore. When i was considering doing it i was going to either get the tommei pistons or come CP units.
  14. my source for the rod bolt clearancing is the tommei RB20 manual. A performace magazine over here has made the motor and went by the original instructions using the tommei pistons. I am not 100% sure if they do actually hit, but if it is close, it would be better to be safe than sorry. also when using the tommei pistons you need to machine a small section on top of the rod, only a couple mm though. i will try to find the magazine and post more info for you.
  15. good luck with the RB24 project. from what i have seen, you will need to recess the block so the rod bolts on the bigend clear. should need to maching a 5mm deep 25mm wide semi circle there are aftermarket head gaskets made for over-bored RB20s i was going to build an RB24, but i will be going with a much more simple RB22, using standard preped rods and crank. I have never heard of a RB20 bottom end bending unless something stupid was done, so it should be strong enough for me.
  16. If you give me a price, there is a good chance i will grab a set. In the gunmetal/polished It seems they should fit on my '78 260Z
  17. scary thing i have found is when the road it wet, or if its raining, i get a light spray of water on my FMIC, which ups the power a bit, and my tyres are wet, so less traction, evil combo.
  18. mmmm, i love those wheels, now i just gotta find someone in Aus who sells them
  19. Well a few of my mates have completly destroyed the box from an RB20DET, mine is still holding together, but i am not making mountains of power either. there is a reason the 20DET box is cheaper than the 25DET box. I will be keeping my RB20DET box purely for fitment reasons, when this one dies, i will be getting a replacement cyro'd, as this has proven in a few cars i know of to handle abuse quite well. most times i see and RB20DET box destroyed is when someone has put an RB25DET in their R32 and kept the 32s box, many people destroy the boxs. on an RB20DET the box would be fine, and its not about how much power the box will handle, its about how much torque it will handle. the RB30e you mentioned in VLs and such are not exactly powerfull, and i have not known an RB20DET box to last long behind a turbo version. most VL turbos use a jericho (spelling?) auto.
  20. OMG i love your wheels, that night pic is great. now i cant decide what to do with my 260Z, flat black or someting like yours
  21. sounds like you are going well so far, god luck with the swap for the exhaust, i would certainly go 3", if you go 2.5" you might find yourself replacing it not too far down the track
  22. GTR injectors are morethan enough for most RB20 aplications, they flow 440cc I think the stock RB20 injectors are 270cc or there abouts. unless you build the bottom end, you should not need bigger injectors than the GTRs edit: i just looked at the injectors you are looking at, they are side feed for RB25, RB20 needs top feed. this will not fit straight in, you will need a custom fuel rail etc
  23. with the old L28, 230km/h (142 mph) redline in 5th With the RB20, 210km/h (130 mph) almost the end of 4th, I still have standard everything else, so i am gonna wait till i get my coilovers and brakes setupm then gonna go for 160mph. (260km/h)
  24. 1) yes they should work, but i am not 100% sure on hood clearance issues. 2)RB25 gearbox bolts straight on to RB20 3) i dont know about MS, but i used an EMS 8860 ecu, it only took my tuner 2 days to install and do a complete tune which i have been running for the past 3 months without problems. it was pretty cheap too at $1500 AUD for the complete system. hope i have been of some help.
