  1. The cam is too small for those heads and combination IMO. Comp says they have a different profile that is in the .750 lift range that has been used in combinations like this that yielded over 800HP NA on the dyno. Interestingly enough though jesel makes 1.8 shaft rockers for those heads. I'd mill the heads to bump the compression, but as it is it'd probably make 700-750HP! If the guy is real, it's a steal, but I'd bet somebody that lives up that way could check it out.
  2. Wow larry, first time I've seen a video of that thing running. Looks like it got on top of the mud and stayed there. Wonder what it's going to do with cut tires now. hmmmmm....
  3. The .30-.378 Wby mag has SuperDan written all over it if he ever goes hunting. It's a combination arnold schwartzenegger/jenny craig hunting weapon. Weights 29lb total, but it shoots one hole groups at 100 yards. It started life in factory trim and was given to me by a hunter that I guided a couple of years ago. I couldn't handle the recoil so I had my gunsmith fix it. 10 year old kids aren't very bright. All three are now in springer for a 30 day evaluation. Springer is a juvenile hard core maximum security lockup for the baddest of the bad kids. I hope they enjoy their time there, I know I am just knowing that they are there.

Start a new thread would be my guess, so we can see what support from you all there really is.
  6. Well, you kind of got it figured out already, the TH400 internals are heavier, therefore if it goes from zero to 120mph, going through 3 gears, it will take more HP to accomplish that than a th350 and a powerglide. How much would have to be tested on a dyno. Kind of pointless, though, splitting hairs, 15 to 25 HP difference isn't that much in the big scheme of things when you consider a manual trans uses even less HP, but an auto is typically quicker since you don't have interruptions in power to the rear wheels. I've heard the same, seen some 9 second cars pick up some time going to a glide from the th400.
  7. I've gone by this GM internet information for years. It's on several GM related websites. Not sure where it came from but it would be nice to see some dyno charts that could verify the following. "the TH-400 takes approximately 45 HP, the TH-350 uses about 30HP, and the PowerGlide/JetAway uses about 20HP." What they are talking about is acceleration. If you could shave 2 lbs off your engines rotational weight, it should show similar gains. Also the th350 has lower gears than the th400.

If the members as a group want to have a hybridz.org car then you need to talk to the admins and voice your opinion.
  9. Blower companies like littlefield, BDS, Dyers and others used to make a manifold and drive kit for the FE series motors. I'd try there. I saw one back in the '70's at south Eubank at the street drags.
  10. Z hasn't moved. I need to go talk to him tomorrow, if something doesn't happen in the next month, I'm going to have to go pick it up and do it myself. I hate to but this is getting ridiculous. Won't have time to get that car ready for SEZ that's for sure. The monte is a different story though, wouldn't take long to get it going. But in reality, I'm guiding a hunter in sept for elk, boy drew for deer in a coveted area up by colorado accessible by horseback only and he also drew once in a lifetime oryx hunt on the missile range and I used to blade roads there back in the '80's, so I doubt seriously I'll make SEZ unless I make bocoo dinero soon and then I'll just take the '33 dodge out there and give most of your 2wd cars a whoopin in the 1/8 mile with my 4wd !!!! Ha ha
  11. cool, should feel better about the CV's over the ujoints, don't you? Sounds like 8's to me. Those fire extinguishers make a mess don't they?!!!
  12. I bought the '97 for my wife, regular cab 2wd, intercooled 12 valve, 5 speed with a pto. Probably rob the pto off the '97 and put it on the '99 and add a pto winch to the '99. When she died, I made it my daily driver. I bought it at a ritchie bros. auction for cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap. Watch those RB auctions, they have them all the time and you don't have to be a dealer to go and buy one. Interestingly enough on the earlier dodges, the wastegate springs get weak from the heat. put a manual boost controller on them and turn the boost up abit. Makes a world of difference in the mpg's. The '97 routinely does 29 mpg on the highway and about 26mpg in town. Fuel gauge doesn't work in the '97 so I have to use the odometer and check mileage by calculation when I fill up. I have a gooseneck hitch in the '99, but with the 5 speed I had the trans upgraded to the new mainshaft, 2nd and 5th gears. I never had a problem with 5th gear coming off, but now I don't worry about it anymore. With the little weed turning 12 this year, I think I'll keep the '97 as my daily driver, and give him the '99 quad cab 4x4. Then I still have the '04 as my pimp ride.
  13. The search function seems to provide all the information you need. I just tried it for 280zx v8 conversion mounts and there is a ton of threads. The answer to you questions are easily obtained using the search function. Try using different search words as well, I'm sure that many hours worth of reading await you.
  14. There are bolt on's that you can do, K&N air cleaner, intake manifold if it's TBI, headers, prom. But IMO your talking peanuts compared to the ram. I have 3 rams all with the 5.9 diesel, '97, '99, and '04. You can't beat that diesel torque. What's mentioned is about it for less than a grand.

An 11 second monte will lift one wheel, a 10 second monte lifts both wheels with ease. The car will be dismantled and sent to whomever or the salvage yard. We'll use a whole nother car that's straight.
  16. That's cool, but what's really cool is 20,000 frames per second filming 105 and 155mm howitzer projectiles traveling 2.5 miles from barrel to target at night!
  17. Before I send this to the tool shed, mind telling me what this has to do with z cars?
  18. Called a lewis tool, I have one, used to elongate pushrod holes on OEM sbc chevrolet heads for 1.6:1 rocker arms, come in 5/16", I've seen similar for other non automotive applications. But that's old skool, so nobody remembers crap like that.
  19. Dan is testing the auction function in the classifieds for the parts off the pinks car. Brethren will get first crack at it. Which is how brethren should act instead of just posting z stuff on ebay without giving every hybridz member first chance. If it doesn't sell, then we'll post it on EBAY!
  20. Flashback; Two weeks back my boy and I were driving on the west side of town and he said to me, dad there's 2 z's parked on the side of a house with weeds growing all around them. So, later, we drove back and sure enough, tucked back along the side of this old adobe house are these two z's, one red and one orange. Both are 240 z's. But nobody was home Present day I found a note on my door from a guy saying that he heard I had some z's and that I might be interested in buying the two 240z's that he had, 2 for the price of one. Both run it says, one red and one orange. I'll go take a look this next weekend. and see what he wants.
  21. I have the same kit and that TT banks kit won't fit a datsun z, you might ought to change your ebay ad in case some datsun owner buys it thinking it fits a z car.
  22. I was going to use a magneto with a controller so I could limit the rpm. Magnetos don't have the fire unless you use the $2000 Mag 44 version that's used in top fuel. MSD's work great when they work, I've seen more than a few go out, but that's the way it goes, first your money then your clothes.
