  1. Well for those of you that have seen my posts in the drivetrain section, you'd know I had some issues recently regarding axles. I just wanted to touch base here and say that I about ditched the B itch tonight. The right side axle (that had previously twisted) let loose. Surprisingly, no damage was sustained. Didn't even tear the CV boot. I'll post back later with carnage
  2. What clutch did you go with? Please tell me you went aftermarket.
  3. You took a lot more care in doing that then I did lol. We just popped the cover off, brake clean, weld. Its held up for 2K miles of abuse so far.
  4. They will cover just fine. I guess i forgot to add that photo. BRB DOING IT NOW ...see above post...
  5. I'm just going to leave the fronts alone for the time being. I might test fit the fronts, but I doubt they'll clear the brakes.
  6. If you'll see above, I already ordered an 8.5". Thats what MT suggested. It will be more than enough tire, if driven correctly, I have a feeling. The section width on the 10" was 11.6", which is 1.3" off each side. I would have had to run a decent sized spacer to get it away from the strut at that point. Also, it would have added more rolling resistance and weight.
  7. Also, I went ahead and ordered a pair of 26 x 8.5 x 15 MT ET drag slicks, scheduled to be here in a couple days. I'll report back with mounted pictures.
  8. They're here!!!! Pics to follow shortly Photobucket just S H I T itself when I tried to open it.....
  9. Ok, so I have a noise coming from the passengers rear of the car, only when I turn left. It is generally noticeable at speeds 20+. It only does it when i swerve to the left (loading the right side), which makes me think its the wheel bearings. Any insight?
  10. you do know they're exactly the same right? Basically you just run f-body accessories. Comes down to if you want to / can source the accessories, and future plans.
  11. Before the whole longtube thing, I tried about every LS manifold I could get my hands on. I would say that a forward facing duo of truck manifolds would yield the desired result. IIRC, the massive flange was the problem. I wasn't at a point that I wanted to cut them up just then, or I would have. I know you can use a 98 stainless steel F-body manifold for sure on one side. I'll dig through my pics tonight, and let you know. EDIT: Found em. pass 98 mani I think I also recall that the mount on the passengers side is in the way of the truck manifold, when flipped. I know that you can't run AC (fbody) when you flip truck manis, and the JCI kit mounts to the AC tabs. I'd guess that mount would have to be relocated. Food for thought.
  12. Its not about taking 100 pounds out of one place. Its about taking 1 pound out of 100 places. Start taking off all unnecessary brackets, yada yada
  13. Thats the speedo cable - best I can tell. No, you won't need it. Because the t56 has an electronic speed sensor, or if you did put a different tail shaft on it, it uses a different gear, I'm almost 100% certain.
  14. 1. Have you tried a new slave cylinder? 2. Monster clutches, hands down, unless you want a twin... which at your power level is not necessary. The problem is not the design, its obviously one of your components. Love it or hate it, its the truth! No sense in blindly throwing money at a problem.
  15. Well what would you like to know? The 5.3 was quick. I'd guess low-mid 12's. Tons of fun, and got good mileage(30) if you could keep your foot out of it. Best part is with my 275's, it hooked on the street. The LS1 is a completely different animal, and if you've followed along, you'd know it is FAR from stock. It has an absurd amount of torque, and will blow the tires off effortlessly in first, and for about the first half of second. Its still decent on gas. Mixed driving i get about 20, but once you open it up, HOLD ON.
  16. I have a holley pump and FPR that I'd let go of pretty cheap. Its what I had on my SBC long ago. LMK
  17. I'm buying these for drag wheels, so it will be a full slick. I'm either going with a MT ET Drag 26x8.5x15, or a 26x10x15. I think the 8.5 will be a great fit on these wheels, but I also think the 10 would look sick. I love lots of tire haha. I might wait till I get them to order, or i might get crazy and make a decision!
  18. 13.5" wheel here. No PS, 275's all the way around, and a welded diff. My forearms were sore the first week, but now its not bad. You have to get a little western with it low speed however. MAN'S CAR
  19. So I spent the last couple days focusing on the interior. Mostly just making all the lights work, wiring a radio, and just plain putting stuff together. I am proud to say that the car is as complete as its been since I've owned it. When I bought it, all the interior was in boxes. I hate putting things together that I didn't take apart...... I'll try to get a picture when its light out tomorrow.
  20. Yeah, HF will do you solid on one of those. You could probably pick up some wobble sockets too.
  21. Just found this: http://www.racinglab.com/rota-shakotan-15x9-006.html 15x9 = 15.9 pounds for anyone not looking to follow the link. I am so buying these. This saves almost $100 over ebay.
  22. ITB's look cool, but won't your IAT's be through the roof? Or are you just not worried about that. Super clean car. Neat to see something different.
  23. It will. Oh ye of little faith. Go buy a 24" or 36" extension. That, coupled with a wobble socket or a socket and universal joint combo, and you'll be set. Once the tranny sags, its pretty easy to get to.
