  1. jay28, That is a good looking 2 plus 2 !!!! What is your suspension setup? Also are those Image wheels?
  2. No, you do not need coilovers to run wide wheels. The coilovers outside of the suspension benefits allow you to tuck the wheel/tires closer to the hub. I have heard about stresses on the bearings and hub with high negative offsets, but I have never witness a failure on a Z. I have seen these guys, that can not decide if they are lowriding or not with these wire wheels sticking way out. I know that is accident waiting to happen !!! Hopefully, ZR8ED can chime in, I think he is running 17 x 11 with 315/35-17 without coilovers on the rear. I am not going that wide in the front, so those who have can comment on that. I am looking at 235, 245 and 255 40 17 up front. Quick question, have you check to see if they will make the wheels in 4-lug bolt pattern?
  3. My buddy Troy got me going down this path of V8 Zs' and my internet search led to the other 1st edition of your Z!! The new version is even better !!! By the way I like the background as well !!! Viper and Z06 !!!!
  4. I have used Duplicolor vinyl paint. The prep was easy, painted a repaired dash and then painted the dash cap, and some trim pieces after roll-bar install.
  5. Do a search on member "1 fast z " he has a post just below this one. Also, you have to provide more information on your suspension set-up, do you have coil overs? stock set-up with performance springs and strutst? what size tires are you plan on running? I have some of the BAMF flares as well, my suspension is rebuilt with performance springs and struts, I plan on running either 18 x 11 on the rear 4 inch backspace 315/30 18 tire or 17 x 11 between 3.75 and 4.25 backspace with 315/35 17 tire. Do a google search on home made backspace/offset tool that you can make, either Hot Rod magazine or Super Chevy did article on it and it works real well.
  6. Aziza has them on his LS1 Z. Look up Aziza. I bought mine from Chevs of the 40's, I spent a little bit more than the Ebay price !!!. I am in the same boat as you, I have a 77 Z and planned to shave the side signals on the fenders.
  7. I am learning as well, but I have to wire the fan for a LS1 swap. If you have not already, because you indicated Painless-I have there manual list bookmarked. Go to the bottom of the page and look at Dual fan set. It shows a lead ran to the AC as well. Good Luck Edit: I see your lead to the AC in your attached thumbnail. http://www.painlessperformance.com/InfoSearch/manuals.php
  8. First, all rust is bad. The frame rails, floors, battery tray, dog legs (lower area in front of rear tires), rear hatch and also around gas filler are the areas I can think of off the top. This is my second Z and I have replaced the driver floor, battery tray and dog legs. I am sure there is a "rust free" Z out there, but there are getting harder to find. Learn how to weld and/or locate you a good auto body welder you are going to need one or the other. The area around the rear fender wells can be tricky as well because of the Zs' unibody structure.
  9. Two of the many things that stand out for me on this Z are the shaved door handles, and the stance/suspension with the 18 inch wheels.
  10. Email or call Dave at Arizonazcar.com, that is were I purchase mine. Also, check with Zspecialties.com he may have one as well.
  11. I hope this not a re-post? I have seen one or two photos of this Z, and a friend of mine sent me this link. IMHO, this is one hell of a good looking Z !!!! http://www.auto-otaku.com/home/2007/11/japanese-pro-to.html
  12. Warren, My condolences to you and your family, from my family. If you need anything let me know Warren. Glenn
  13. This is a electrical/LS1 answer !! ragefear, If you removed both the Datsun engine harness (replaced by the LS1 ECM and harness) and the stock chassis harness, you have to replace the chassis harness as well . If you look at your Z factory manual, you will see were they meet (a terminal block) or junction block on the passenger side foot well. Some guys have built there chassis harness, most here have gone with Painless harness--I am using a Summit Gm 18 circuit harness.I am doing my wiring right now (wiring the guages in the dash) and next week with nothing scheduled get started on the chassis electric. The electrical experts who have done LS1 swaps hopefully will chime in, you have to decide if you are going with the stock chassis harness and removed some of the items you may not need per JTR manual and hopefully you want remove something you need, or replace with a new chassis harness. It was confusing to me at first, but if you look at how your engine harness is labeled and look at a Painless harness manual you will see were the circuits meet. You will have some items work when you turn your key to accessory and/or ignition -or you may decide to go with toggle switches. Shoot me a PM, oddly enough the electric stuff finally was logical to me (Thanks Warren !!)
  14. I went to Tractor Supply and picked up some longer bolts.
  15. As a last resort I go to Z Car Atlanta on Buford Highway (charges high prices for used parts). Eddie Radatz over in Kennesaw has a few parts cars at his shop as well. Shoot me a pm of what you need, I was in the Georgia Z Club and I stay in contact with a few members and they may have what you need.
  16. That is a great look. I have been debating buying the fiberglass 240 bumpers just to break up the grill opening. Have you notice any difference as far as cold air coming into the engine bay ?
  17. Deru, I am in west Georgia (Hiram!!!) It took about 6-8 days to receive my order. Sanderson was behind, so I received my headers a bit later.
  18. Mine's were off just enough so the bolt could not come through. I took the Dremel to it, but I made sure I had on correct before I started grinding. A Dremel tool will become your friend !!!!
  19. That Black Z is Very NICE !!!!. Thanks for the link.
  20. If the kit is installed with detail it could look much better. This is picture of the Jim Wolf Car from 1995 Z-Car magazine ad. Zlalomz, I think I still have the Z-car magazine ad with the picture of that white car in your avatar on a track ?? I have been tinkering with these Z cars to long !!!
  21. Let me be the second to say that is a good looking Z you got there. Congrats on getting the swap done as well.
  22. Good evening Warren, I have heard good words about http://www.kirkracing.com/ They are not local !!!! But, they possibly can do something for you that works with your interior. Glenn
  23. I am getting closer, work on the dash today and work on some areas I have not had a chance to get to. Saturday, I will install the dash wiring and put the dash back in the car. I now can get ready to install the complete electric harness and engine computer.
  24. Engine is done, but I am thinking of re-doing the throttle cable.
  25. Getting closer to starting the electric install. Just about finish with the dash and install back in car.
