  1. Getting close to start up !!! 1. 2002 WS6 Trans AM LS1 with some ZO6 stuff 2. 4L60E 3. Mounted with JCI kit. 4. Walbro fuel pump, steel braided and stainless steel hard lines. 5. Started Feb. 2007 - 6. Speartech re-work pcm and custom harness. JTR radiator, intake ducting, (Sanderson headers) vent tube. Street and Performance 11:00 alternator only accessory mount. B & M Quicksilver stickshift, Flex-a-Lite Mojave heater/defroster, Longacre 3 toggle pushbutton starter panel, Corbeau seats, Autopower roll-bar, TCI diveshaft loop, Kwikwire 8 circuit electric harness, Ron Francis Closed Loop Ground kit, Tokico suspension and MSA complete bushing kit, Industrial heat and sound mat from Mc-Master Carr, Autometer electric guages, Patriot sidepipes, BAMF ZG flares (still in the Box), Boze wheels (Still in the box). Need to finish wiring, get brakes, get tires and install ZG flares and do bodywork and paint.
  2. There is a LS swap 240Z on ebay now, nice looking from computer screen. The one thing that jumps out at me, is he states that it is JTR engine mounted, not JCI ? maybe a typographical error? Maybe use JTR mounts with LS1 mount adapters.
  3. EvilC, The Z is looking good !!! I am jealous of the time you guys get to work on your car!!! Clive in your visual opinion, you think a 335/35-17 tire would fit under the wide ZG? I am thinking of the testing the waters !!
  4. I am 3/4 of the way re-wiring my car, What I can tell you is my 77 wiper is ground controlled, I found this out by connecting the wiper ground wire to the "on" position on my toggle switch, and then connected a wire from the "off" position on the toggle switch to ground. Then I connected a wire to the wiper 18 ga black or dk blue wire to the battery positive. In the picture below, the big white tag on your right is the ground wire in the photo, and the dk.-blue or 18ga black wire with the white tag on your left is the 12v power wire. There is a Yellow, Blue/yellow stripe and Blue/red stripe wire and yellow/green wire these wires from what I have put together control the wiper speed, intermittent and the wiper washer.

In the process of re-wiring the car, the wiper electrics has been a test. The one thing I discovered is the wiper (my wipers) are turned on by ground. The yellow wire, bue/yellow and blue/red and another black wire (thinner guage than the black ground) did nothing until tested and hook it up as you see it. The big tag is ground on your right, and the tag you can barely see is a 12v power source dk blue or black.
  6. I have the Taylor 84644 spark plug wires, and #1 and #7 header touches the spark plug boot. Though the JTR headers are ceramic coated, were the header touches the boot I put header wrap at the spot. The passenger side have no problems at all. I will see in the coming days if it is a problem.
  7. The latest update !!!I did away with the Summit Harness universal harness, just to many issues with it. I have since bought a 8 Circuit harness from Kwikwire, and the instructions are clear and the harness is very nice. I got some help technical advice from a couple a Factory Five Cobra guys on how to wire toggle switches to chassis harness to a computer controlled car and they were great. So, the engine harness is connected and the pcm is mounted. I wired the Taurus fan, fuel pump and new headlight harness. Tommorrow I will work on the front lights, horn and begin to do the wire connections for the dash (guages and toggle switches)and the heater/defroster. Another 8-10 hours and the wiring is done !! test and re-test get the fire extinguishers and se if she will start !!!

    Pcm mounted

I have had the pcm mounted for awhile. I finally getting some more time to integrate the chassis harness with engine harness.
  9. I did away with the Summit harness and got a Kwik wire 8 circuit harness. Great harness and clear instructions.

  11. Making a little progress completely re-wiring the Z, and I just about have the engine to body done and ready to start on lights and dash. The JTR manual goes over the Chrysler fuel pump switch install, as well as the threads I have read on this site for Gen l-ll engine swaps, but were is the safety in the ECM on the LS1 controlling the fuel pump ? Also, I have the oil pressure sender that has two connections, can I or do I connect the tan oil sensor wire from the ECM to one of the connections and the other spade connection is for my oil pressure guage? Logically this seems the way I should make connections, but is this the way you guys have handle the wiring. Thanks
  12. I can not remember how I found this site, I have not got me pair, but they are on the list. http://www.hoodlouvers.com/products.html Glenn
  13. Disregard my PM about the flares !!! But do check the front dust cap and wheel center cap for clearance. Thanks, Glenn
  14. I had the 18 circuit Summit harness !!!! terrible instructions !!! Turn signal and brake lights are a combination lamp. Also when you look at the summit instructions, you will see two white brake switch wires ( one white wire in the dash section and one white in the column) and a orange brake switch power. The white brake switch wire will connect from the brake switch to the turn signal switch. Like you, I got the Painless and the Kwikwire instructions to make since out of the summit harness, called Summit told them I had problems with my harness and fuse box, so I removed it (did not cut anything) and they gave me a refund for it. I have since bought a 8 circuit Kwik wire harness that I will start on next week. I personally could not make the 18 circuit Summit work for my application, plus the terrible instructions and fuse panel issues. Good Luck if you can make it work for you.
  15. Pulling the dash out is not that difficult. You have to be careful with your wire connections. Whichever direction you go, try to have a plan for exactly what you want to do. I knew I did not want AC, but really need a defroster for the late evenings coming back from car shows (that is the plan). I removed everything, and installed a Flex a lite Mojave heater with a plenum to direct heat to the defroster vents. I am working on all my wiring now, I will post more details on my members project page.
  16. Heater is installed. Now I can put back in dash and start to make interior wire connections.
  17. There are some chrome shops that can chrome fiberglass !!!I have a 77 and I removed the EPA bumpers - I am trying decide if I will 1. Buy fiberglass 240 bumpers 2. Paint same color as car 3. Have the fiberglass bumpers chromed.
  18. When my motor arrived, it had the headers pictured. I did not even try to use them, but I wondered if I could of modified them to work. On the passenger side, it is real tight between the Z frame and the LS1 starter, fuel lines (moved per JTR) and brake lines.. it is just a tight space. Get your BFH ready to make room for the tranny as well as, enough room to get your hand in a position to plug in your 4L60E transmission connector and VSS. I forgot, on the driver side the steering shaft goes through the driver side motor mount -that is the dilemma of the driver side. Are you using JCI mounts ?

    Original headers

When my motor and transmission arrived, these were the headers that were on the engines. I still have the headers and may re-visit putting these a my "Z" or another "Z".
  20. Man, That is real NICE !!!!
  21. Go to skulte.com. He makes adapters for high horsepower f-bodies and custom applications. As stated before get all your mesaurements together ( stock bolt patterns, hub size .... and the specs on the wheels you are going buy.
  22. Matt, What alternator do you have? and was your Speartech harness built for a 98-99 f-body or 01-02 f-body ? the pigtails for the alternators are different. My Speartech harness has two wires on the alternator pigtail (1) gray (1) red, however I could not used the Trans AM CS130D internal fan in the 10:00 oclock position, so I bought a CS130 external fan alternator with the accssories. I no longer used the pigtail off the Speartech harness, I have a CS130 pigtail that has a (1) yellow wire with a 85 ohm resistor built in the connector that will connect to the alternator exciter wire and (1) 8 ga red wire that connects to constant 12 volts. Post a picture of what you have. Glenn
