  1. Oh, we've already covered this.http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/111407-first-start-280z-turbo-on-ms2/
  2. You shouldn't use 20 degree trigger angle. Try 60.
  3. Did the jb weld come out of the distributor?
  4. Your timing had to be too advanced at the time of the failure though your map looks ok. I would try to find a problem with the distributor or something.
  5. I have this valve adjustment order that I learned way back when I worked at a Chevy dealership 13 years ago. I broke the process down and realised it will work for any engine. You will always have two cylinders at TDC at the same time. On a SBC and Datsun L6 (and many other engines) #1 and #6 are at TDC at the same time, one will be on the compression stroke and one will be on the exhaust stroke. So get the engine to TDC compression stroke on #1 and adjust both of those. Then follow the firing order adjusting exhaust valves. Skip #6. After #6 follow the rest of the firing order but adjust intake valves. Then just rotate the engine one revolution and adjust the rest. Datsun L6 TDC #1 compession intake valves 1-2-4 exhaust valves 1-3-5 #6 compression intake valves 3-5-6 exhaust valves 2-4-6 Gen 1 SBC #1) intake 1-2-5-7 exhaust 1-3-4-8 #6) intake 3-4-6-8 exhaust 2-5-6-7
  6. The car I was having that problem with has the 83 vr distributor. I don't understand how you have accel enrich turned off. It should either be using map or tps or a combination of the two. If you set it to 0 then it uses the map sensor. Are you saying you have 0 for the value in percent tps driven?
  7. Seems ok. What was the reason for the compression test?
  8. You haven't mentioned what type of ignition system you're running. Your cap doesn't look HEI but if you order a complete HEI unit from summit it would be an easy install.
  9. I'm temporarily changing over to a stock style N42 intake while I make some mods to my custom intake. I'm looking for ideas for the tv cable. I'm using a Z31 throttle cable and 240SX tb instead of the stock linkage. Does anyone have any photos of theirs? If not I'll be starting on making something this week and will post up some pics. Thanks.
  10. Oh, I see, you're just trying to get a little more ratio from the rockers. I don't see there being a noticeable improvement.
  11. Looks like it would be easier to build one from scratch. I have an Alfa Romeo intake that would be easier to do.
  12. Coil could be bad but probably the settings. Which board are you using? I have no idea why I can't turn off underline!
  13. What type of distributor/ trigger? Why are you using an hei module with MS2? Could you upload your MSQ file so I can see it? Is your rpm signal steady?
  14. You'll just have to run wires in place of the copper traces that are burned. Hopefully it can be fixed. You can take it to...maybe a computer repair shop?
  15. Your crane box should have a tach output which should work for MS tach input. Is the crane box controlling spark advance/retard? If not you don't have to lock to distributor.
  16. There are 2 wires twisted together in there. Skip ahead to 1:40 to see how I wired the distributor
  17. Remove the red and green wires from the module and connect them to the shielded pair of wires of the megasquirt harness. The vr sensor produces an alternating current of electricity like a generator. Power is not supplied to the vr sensor.
  18. Cars today use a crank and cam sensors for a few reasons. They tell the ecm that the cam is timed with the crank which is necessary with variable valve timing. Also if one sensor goes bad it uses the other as a back up.
  19. Both fenders are rusted out at the bottom. The left is so bad it's no longer connected to the car.
  20. The only problem is there is a reinforcement there where the stock tranny bolted to. It's gonna be a pita no matter what.
  21. I'll trade you mechanical work for body work...?
  22. The problem I'm currently having with my 700r4 right now is, I don't have enough room to move the tail of the tranny up and to the right enough to get a good driveline angle and eliminate my vibration. To fix it I have to either pull the tranny back out, for the 10th time, (not joking) and hammer a big enough dent, or cut out a section in the tunnel and weld in a piece to make room. I'm thinking about the cutting. I'll have to pull the passenger seat and carpet.....sigh..
