  1. Electric turbo? And I'm assuming you want to stick with the L6? it would be around the same price to swap in a 350sbc if you could get one for the right price. You can get 200ft/lbs with 2.8 with those mods and head work. You can get pretty damn close on SU's. in the 190's close. Still waiting to see what he could do with the triples once he gets them tuned and heads to a dyno.
  2. It would be put to much better use if you hog out the runners and swap in bigger valves. Stock for stock you might get more usable power out of an N42 head because it has lower compression. If you're getting it for cheap you could always resell it for a profit though.
  3. I think the driver is a pretty cool guy. He goes around corners at 200kph and doesn't afraid of anything
  4. Front strut tubes, 510 guys use them for coilover swaps, possibly the rear brake calipers if they aren't the elephant ear ones, also some people might need glass. I actually need a new hatch, too bad you're not in Socal. You could take the gauges out, people might want them.
  5. Just widen the existing hole and grind down the "hump".
  6. Yeah The Gnose is nice, but I only looks good on 2+2s. On a coupe it makes the front look too long. Only real other thing about the Gnose is that no one makes Headlight covers for it. I just wish the hood didn't have those NACA ducts up front.
  7. Ka tranny swap: http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/240sxtransmissioninstall/index.html The KA tranny is longer though by like 1-2 inches so you need your driveshaft shortened. or get a new one made with up to date joints.
  8. $150 or less for a long block(block, front cover, and head) by itself, no clutch/flywheel, no manifolds or accessories(alternator, AC compressor, power steering pump etc...). I would not pay more than $200 for something like that. You could get it in a junkyard for about that price.
  9. I think john thought you were going with an Non turbo engine. High Compression and all that because you were talking about octane ratings and knock and stuff. swede, You can get 300hp out of a turbo motor with a better turbo, intercooler, injectors and an aftermarket engine management system with no engine work whatsoever. Stock L28ET makes 180bhp on 7psi. With the mods I listed you can make it up to the mid to high 300's easy on pump gas. Then you
  10. and read this http://datsunzgarage.com/heads/ L24 is a 240z, L26 is 260 and L28 is 280z(75-78) and 280zx(79-83).
  11. Get it. I've sold N42 heads in worse shape than that for $150.
  12. L28ET is a turbo engine swap from an 81-83 280zx turbo. You need to do more reading before you touch anything. Honestly you could feel a difference in power by just cleaning connectors and replacing basic components that are crusty and deteriorating. and yes by taking a ton of weight off the car. Change the exhaust because it will free up engine breathing, will be used later down the road and you can make your car sound a lot better than it probably does now. Change to a cold air system because your air filter housing has a giant rust hole through it or you want it to look better in the engine bay. You shouldn't be thinking what hp you want now, but what hp you want down the road and if mods you do can still be useful.
  13. I meant either an 4.11 r180 or a converted r200 LSD.
  14. If you want to really race an s130, try and get an early 79-80 one without Ttops and manual steering. Light as a feather. You can always swap in a turbo later.
  15. What coilovers are you on? And I just got my stuff back from the sandblasters today. I'm not lowering my car that much so I'm not going to be doing the offset bolts. I am going with the solid subframe bushings though. Still don't know what I'm going to do with for a diff. I want to get the 4.11 r180, but I also would like to use the guts of a shortnose r200 and transfer them into a carrier like you did. Unless I can find a z31 CLSD( not likely).
  16. I'm with cockerstar, trade it in for a 240sx tranny swap down the road.
  17. Just for reference can you get us a picture showing how much of a gap it is making?
  18. If you really want more interest you could also try it on Zilvia.net. You can get a lot more interest especially in SoCal becasue of the RB and pre smog.
  19. Get some powerslot rotors since they are cheap. PBR is ok, they are oem, but don't get them from MSA, its overpriced. You can get some hawk pads if you look hard enough http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/results.jsp?autoMake=Datsun&autoModel=280ZX&autoYear=1981&autoModClar= http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/Hawk/Brake-Pads/Nissan-280ZX-Hawk-HP-Plus-Brake-Pads-_-HB169N560/630640/
  20. Really hard to tell from pictures. Its in FL so look for rust, cracked glass, stained interior and banged up frame rails. You really want a straight body. Says it needs an intercooler and wastegate. so make sure you look into that too. Also I don't know about the laws in FL about swapped engines, although I'm pretty sure they don't care as much as here in CA. Make sure the engine is broken in some what. If it's a super fresh build and the guy hasn't even broke in it 500miles I would be wary. As long as you don't go crazy with the motor and run a decent tune it would be worth it for a DD. Throw on some coilovers and rims too. Its a half completed project. I didn't think you were the type to be into 240sx's JSM
  21. have you tried taking the knob off and seeing if it will fit? I know it would be annoying to have to keep them in your glove box and having to reattach them, but it's better than my situation. I used inverted dampers so the adjustment in on the bottom, inside the threaded sleeve. I need to jack up my car and take the coilover out to adjust mine.
  22. It is a stiffer chassis stock for stock, but I just like the look of my s30 a little more. All the lost its soul stuff is because it came with more comforts which added weight blah blah blah. You could easily remove half that crap if you wanted to really race an s130 so I don't know what they were complaining about. You drive a stripped s30 and a stripped s130 and they sound and feel almost the same.
  23. Its a turbo, The ign coil is not horizontal and it has a pop off valve on the manifold.
