  1. I think I posted this a month or two ago, it was featured on speedhunters.
  2. lol at tony. Whatever could be the name of such a Z CAR site.....
  3. My 81 2+2 had an r200 with 3.9 gearing. But I'm sure the diff had to of been been replaced. The car had almost 220k miles on it.
  4. Hmm I must have read an internet myth about the the diffs somewhere then. Pictures of my new ZX some rust This is the driver fender, already replaced it Need a new hatch probably, water leaked in and it's rusting from the inside
  5. in before lock. but seriously google vildini motorpsorts and mckinney motorsports. They both make kits if I recall to swap in RB and SR motors
  6. Yeah that's not a problem for me, yet, but I think only the 2+2s and turbos got R200's. I wish this one didn't come with cruise because I hate having that useless switch panel on my dash.
  7. Just put some stock rims on and get rid of those spacers. This is a safety concern. You can figure out what rims you like later. As for an sr20 swap, mckinny motorsports and vildini(spelled right?)motorsports both make kits to make it a drop in affair. If you mean the electrical then you should look into a shop or do it yourself. The most important pieces of weather stripping( windows and door seals) can still be bought from vendors like MSA and Black dragon auto.
  8. Tony, that's my main interest in it. structurally it's more sound than most of the s30 I've seen on craigslist. Can't weight to strip it down and weigh it before, after and all the pieces that come off.
  9. I was wondering how uncommon it is to find 280zx without all the power options. Personally I haven't seen more than 2 in junkyards amid dozens of the "luxury" models. I'm hopefully buying one one with a complete black interior, runs and drives with no rust on the frame, but a spot on the hatch and on the driver fender, not so bad. Has manual windows and manual steering and no rear windhsield wiper, has a hardtop, but has AC and cruise control. Car was manufatured in 10/79 so it is an 80 model. Another thing interior is complete with no major rips or tears save that it is missing the rear driver interior quarter panel(that covers the antenna). I'm mostly looking at it because I want to strip it and use it as a track car and it's easier to get these than an early 240z without as much rust.
  10. pm ben directly and tell him you're a hybridz member and he will give you a little discount
  11. The pillars are screwed in underneath the door weatherstrip/moldings.
  12. Maybe he thought they were garbage? usually anything on my front lawn gets picked up by someone, even if its the most useless stuff ever
  13. Also using franks cage as an example, although his is a coupe. I am wondering if that middle bar straight across with the V would be beneficial as well or if I am just getting into adding more weight than gaining reinforcement.
  14. Ok so I want it in that little corner then. Thank you John. I was looking at this picture and will probably take a clean shot of the rear area and use microsoft paint to fill in some more bars to see what it would look like. My inspiration is this picture, but I think this is for a s30 chassis (although I would assume the same principles apply). And of course I would only be looking at the rear most of the light green bars, The black cross bars that go from the strut towers to the corners in black, and the blue lateral bar between the strut towers.
  15. I mean with a new hoop. Are those locations where I should be looking to mount or would it be better to put it in front of the beam/seam. That roll bar is now being saved for my 260z, not my 280zx. Sorry for any misunderstanding. Edit: The new question is this, should the main hoop be infront of the beam/seam thing, or should I keep it close to the wheel wells with a gusset box? I will be have a new main hoop made to fit snuggly around the inside.
  16. I would've done a Z. Pretty cool though. Baddest Wagon ever.
  17. ok so amd probably going to be using this in my Z then. But are these good mounting points? with a gusset box and all? or should they be mounted in front of the main seam/bar thing(I think that's what it is)???
  18. I'm thinking about getting those TC rods too.
  19. Is it unsafe because of the gap between the sides and the hoop?
  20. you need collars with like 2.17 inch ID's. The 280z strut tubes have a larger diameter. You have 240/early260z collars.
  21. I know there are a few members out in pensacola, but more of the people in FL aren't in the panhandle. more like central Fl or Miami.
