  1. Final update for a while until I get her painted. I got the Whale tail installed today by Art at sunrise Z. Basically ended up putting a lot of self taping screws into the underside and used silicone around the edges. You can see he just put screws where ever he had access and drilled some new ones for the rear portion and the front corners. The rear of the car definitely felt more planted at freeway speeds. Hugged the road better. And it didn't rip off so I know its on there good and tight. A couple other things I did, I replaced the old fuel sending unit so now I know how much fuel I have. Also got it weighed. Came in at 2460 without me in it and on some 15's. The Diamond racing rims add about another 80lbs because they are huge and made of lead. The only real major things I would like to do mechanically now are a 240sx tranny swap, and install my LSD in my other 4.11 along with some CV's. Lastly I plan on getting a roll bar welded in, along with some schroth clubman harnesses. Oh and paint of course
  2. That's pretty harsh spring rates. Most people That I know who section their struts go with 225F and 250R. You could also try getting a taller tire to absorb more shock, or you can try getting some small helper springs to absorb shock.
  3. Dear baby jesus please use smaller sized pics. Also a K&N Valve cover breather can be bought for like $10 from MSA. It will fit a lot better then the trashy spectre filter. I did have the specter thing on mine for a while and got fed up with it popping off becasue I didn't trim enough, and when I trimmed enough it actually cracked
  4. What kind of diff is it? R180 or R200? And take some pics after you put the flares on.
  5. The way scion works is you pay what the tag says, its there brand philosophy. So they say 25k you pay it. It includes all taxes. The dealer cannot mark up the price( if its a scion dealership) The STI version actually has different body lines, so that you can not swap over fenders from the scion one to the subi one. Pretty lame, but the STI version looks killer. I saw them at the LA autoshow. If the scion one does well, then they will look into production for the STI one.
  6. Mechanically a direct engine swap, just make sure to use all the electronics from the Turbo motor
  7. I think they account for the final drive. When I had my 260z dynoed, they asked what the diff gearing was and plugged it in.
  8. are you reusing the 79 head? it should be an N47 and the CR should be stock.
  9. I know this is for S30;s, but I weighed my s130 base model coupe that I've been working on and it came in at 2470. Specs: Full 20 gal tank, all fluids no Sound deadening, no spare tire or tools completely stripped save for the dash, center console and 2 sparco tec seats (40lbs for the pair) No AC lines in the bay( still have under the dash stuff) No power windows, or power steering s13 coilovers, s13 alum radiator. 6-2-1 headers w/o cat and shaved n42 intake No front bumper( have a fiberglass Gnose on) I didn't have my whale tail on, but it cant be more than 30 lbs.
  10. I couldn't pop them out through the front because I had a close fitting dash cover on my car. I felt like I would have broken something trying to do to that way. So I removed the whole dash.
  11. Is it a clean title? could be the cause of the damage up front and the RR strut tower.
  12. What ever happened to the 2j that you had? or was it a 7m?
  13. I saw someone running a simple 3 point harness with the chest strap tied over the rear strut bar. I don't know if that's safe, but it was not a track car, just a simple show thing.
  14. just be very careful, remove the wheel, and if something is fighting you its probably the dash harness. The gauges were a pain in the ass when I took them out of my 260.
  15. There are 2 versions of "round top" SU's. 3 and 4 screws. You have round top carbs. So yes you have the "good" carbs. Flat top carbs are literally flat on the top.
  16. I'd sell the 280z and buy a 240z. Install all your parts in the Z, sell off the rest and get your garage back. I think the Z cost less to insure, register, maintain, etc.... than the A6. It just costs you time, but you can turn that into good memories with your kids. You even said, financially its one or the other, and the Z will cost less( unless you do a full resto on it). And if you've had it that long, you will get the itch later on and probably regret selling it.
  17. As much as I hate to say it, Ron is right saying that to the extreme side of stancing you shouldn't be here. There are other forums that you can get eye candy from. Engineered to be feared, not engineered to scrape and fall apart.
  18. Update, I got the Gnose on \ also got some tint and two 6x9 speakers with boxes mounted behind the seats, Infinity Kappa's, they sound amazing And some sticker tuning hehehe
  19. Might want to check zilvia.net for the coilovers. You'll have a better chance
  20. Just take out the top on and bring it to a lowes or something and get 2 new bolts. Thats what I did with practically every bolt in my engine bay.
  21. The way I capped it off was just take some extra fuel line I had laying around and put a bolt in the end of it. Cheap, ghetto, looks bad, but it worked.
