  1. Wow, thanks for that info Tony. I have a complete '77 parts car sitting right outside the garage that I could use to do that. I'll search around and see what I can find about that swap. That would save me both money and time which is always a good thing.
  2. I have not been able to find a local shop that is willing to do the turbo engine swap from my '82 280ZXT parts car into my good '75 280Z. I'm sure that I can do all the mechanical work, but the wiring is going to challenge me. Between work and grad school I am not willing to take things apart for fear that I never get this project done. I asked McKinney about having them do the wiring work but they are too busy at this point to do the work. Does anybody know of somebody that can mate my 280Z and 280ZXT harnesses so I can just do the install and fire the car up? I have no problem pulling the harnesses if I can have them turned around in a reasonable time. Thanks, Jim
  3. I'm ready for a set for my '75 280Z.
  4. I still can't get the site to come back up. Doh. I was using an old link to a page they've changed. Silly me.
  5. My 280Z hasn't moved for a year and when I did drive it last it ran like crap because of five year old gas in the tank. This past week I actually pumped out the old gas from the tank but have not gotten around to adding new gas and a fuel system cleaner. The entire turbo swap project has been on hold for a while because of outside interests. I met the woman of my dream three years ago and had a fantastic time with her until it fell apart and I entered a serious depression. I worked out of that and decided to go back to school and get my MBA. Now I'm halfway done with that and hoping to relocate once I graduate so I need to get the Datsun up and running again so it can move with me. Once my final exams for this semester are done in a few weeks I will have the time to get the project into high gear. At least that's the plan.
  6. I agree. I have forgotten my arm restraints a few times and pulled up in the grid where a worker has me raise my hands to check for them. No drama with them not fastened, they just came over and did them for me. I appreciated the help and didn't feel particularly stupid because the system caught my mistake.
  7. I had no problems what so ever. My Paypal account worked fine right after the charge back and is still going strong. I just used it last week to buy a slot car from overseas and had no hitches. No telling what made my transaction go smoothly but I did get all my money back and that was all that I really cared about at the time.
  8. No implications at all. You get your money back and Paypal gets the charge back so they have to try to recover from the seller. I did this with the aborted group buy control arm sale here on HybridZ and had no trouble getting my money back.
  9. I never get tired of watching that. Thanks for posting.
  10. I had no problems with my 1993 Miata in the snow. It had four snow tires on it and the factory LSD and it went everywhere as long as the snow wasn't too deep.
  11. I am waiting anxiously for my issue to arrive.
  12. Have you looked at a Honda Fit? I have a 2007 Sport model with a five speed and average around 35 MPG in combined city and highway driving and have seen close to 40 MPG when I really try for the best mileage. The car has been very reliable with no problems to report in the 56,XXX miles I've put on it in the last three years. It holds a ton of stuff with the seats folded flat and its relative light weight makes it kinda fun to drive in the twisties. I can't comment on the newer Fits but I do know that they went up in price and I'm not too thrilled with the revised styling, but then again the original Fit wasn't much of a looker either. They still roll on 4x100 wheels so the possible upgrades are endless. It's a Honda so depreciation is low and resale is high and they always seem to be rated as the best car in their class. FWIW, I parked my Fit next to the 1990 Civic Wagon that I used to own and they were almost identical in size. The unfortunate part is that the Fit was about 500 to 600 heavier than the Civic which I suppose is inevitable with all the required safety gear and power accessories that come standard on them. If I were buying a daily driver again it would be either another Fit or a Miata with a hitch for towing a small utility trailer. Jim
  13. I hate key words. They just mess up a perfectly good search. Car dealers do it to by adding at the end "We take Datsuns, Miatas, Corvettes, Ferraris, Etc on trade" Duh, we know that's key word spam you idiots!
  14. I did that with an AE86 a few years back except I used a plasma cutter. It is fun for a while but then it gets to be just plain work. The good news is that you really get a good look at how cars are built and where the weak areas are. I have a 280Z parts car without a title that I need to hack up in the spring and I think I'm going to use the sawzall for that.
  15. Definitely looks like a live action movie when you see the trailers: http://www.wangan-movie.com/trailer.html
  16. I'll take a set for a '75 280Z when available.
  17. Awesome. I hope it turns out as good as the live action Initial D movie.
  18. Uh oh. Looks like the Duke boys are in trouble again. or Do you think his horn played Dixie when flying through the air?
  19. There was a small picture of it in the latest issue of Japanese Nostalgic Car magazine and I was wondering about it. Now I need this AND a GTO replic. Wait, 1.2 million yen is $12049.81 USD. Heck, I'll take two at that price. From the auction: Model C-S31 [**] in November, of fair lady Z 1977 62800km running uncertainty car inspection none five velocity mission 2000cc A lot of remodeling. L2800 engine, six [sorekkusu], and plating tappet cover The exterior is made and has been changed like Toyota 2000GT. It is a maniac car. Owning it It might be very happy. Please continue your favors toward the inquiry after seeing the self introduction column. Yes, it would make me happy to own a maniac car.
  20. I bought a '93 Miata last fall for a daily driver and love it. It came with Konis, Eibach springs, Racing Beat Chassis braces, a Thermal cat back exhaust, 16" Kosei wheels and a roll bar for only $4000. Just turned 129K last week and runs like a top.
  21. I have been feeling the same way off and on for several years. My Z car is sporadically worked on when time and money allows but mostly it just sits in the garage. I've contemplated many different types of cars that I could be driving right now if I sold what I had and financed what I'm planning on spending down the road. Currently leading my short list of cars to buy is an NSX. I really like my Datsun but most of the time I wonder if I'm really going to get around to doing all big and little things that need to be done to get it where I want it or do I want something that I can just get in and drive today. I appeased myself somewhat by buying a '93 Miata to use as a daily driver but I still have to walk by the Z in the garage everyday and look at the piles of parts all around it that need to be installed and get depressed. The only thing that makes me keep the Datsun is the encouragement of my friends and the pictures of completed cars that I have hung up around the house. You're not crazy, I think we all feel like this sometime.
  22. I'm also in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. Whitehall to be exact.
