  1. So i have made the decision to go with 2.5" the whole way to the tail pipe from the stock down pipe. When i go with the Holset, i will be running the 4" down pipe with an electric cut out. (yes, i have found 4" ones) This should supply ample 'stealth' as well as great flow when desired.
  2. Save the wide band money for now and use it on some dyno time.
  3. the compressor side can handle exhaust paint and not flake. I had it on my van for about 10k miles before i swapped turbos and it didn't flake at all.
  4. That's just what i was looking for! Thanks guys. BTW, i found a good source for 10' straight pipe and mandrel bends in everything up to 4". the electrical store! I'm going to go ahead and build a nice 3" from the stock downpipe back to the tail. When i get the holset, i'll just connect that up. I'de rather not have to make an exhaust twice. Thanks guys!
  5. I just put a l28et into my 260Z and need an exhaust. I plan on upgrading to a holset HX35 or HY35, the one without the divided exhaust housing. Anyway, I only want to make one real exhaust. Will a 4" be too big for a holset? Will it fit in a big bumper 260? They are 4" outlet, so I am not worried about that. If it will fit, then I will just slap on a side exit onto the stock downpipe until i get the holset. So yeah, Will 4" be too big for a holset in an S30? Thanks, Shane
  6. Go for it! I just swapped a 83 280zxt l28/T5 into my 260 and that is my first swap. I ended up spending 150 on a cheap hoist/leveler but other then that, you should be able to use most everything from the donor. You will need to have the drive shaft shortened if you are staying with the T5 trans. Also, the trans mount will need to be fabed up if you're using the T5. I ended up going with megasquirt just to avoid old wires and old injection. But many people have done this swap with the stock donor harness. It took me about a solid week of work between pulling out the old engine, pulling out the donor and putting the donor in. I did this over the course of a month or so in my driveway with the police complaining about twice a week, but it can be done without problems. Sorry for the typos and the run-ons but i am beat. feel free to PM me with some specific questions. Shane
  7. No real advantages that I know of. it is a very unique setup and should run nice. But it is a whole lot easier to pull air through a carb then it is to push air through a carb!
  8. That is freakin' sweet! You might just want to get rid of that worm gear clamp on the charge pipe and put a t bolt clamp on it. If that bad boy pops off, it'll get messy with all of that fuel splashing around and whatnot.
  9. Title says it all! Head gasket blew, ran it hot. Don't know if it is warped or cracked... dont' care. This would be a great head to practice to port on. I don't tools to port or i would keep it for myself. Could very well be good, i just want it gone. P90a/F54 is going in.
  10. As is that... and this one! Throw it on ebay and let the market make the price.
  11. We hate overdrive and gas mileage... makes us more tough.
  12. I am pretty sure that they made fairlady 300zx with a 2 litre.
  13. why not consider the sr20? big numbers and you can set it back so the car is a mid engine
  14. ummmm, group by! Who speaks Japanese??
  15. Cummins makes a 4cyl turbo diesel motor that is fairly stout so i am told. They were placed in a lot of the ford vans. With an adapter, they bolt directly up to a ford 5spd trans. (my plan if i ever get a CJ...)
  16. there are problems in making these things, even putting them in the correct box. I've already gotten 3 different size main bearings for a 4cyl engine (only 5 bearings!) measure, call, send back.
  17. you're flowing more air, causing you to lean out faster...
  18. I'm not sure of coolant's properties... but with water and a fan, you can't get below ambient. Why not just get a Spearco air to air and put a CO2 system on it for running from a dig? If you get the right one, you'll have enough room for your IC plumbing and AC. Just a thought
  19. the wideband would be nice (i went with it... should be installed soon...) it won't fix a bad tune, but it will make a good tune better if you have it run close loop/open loop
  20. why buy the stim if you're buying it prebuilt? seems like a solid upsale...

    E85

I plan on running on E85 when it is in the area. I figure a Flexfuel Suburban fuel pump *should* be big enough for a 250-300whp L28et. 37pph injectors out of a flex fuel 2.5L dodge should be plenty of fuel. Stainless fuel rail seems to be the only problem so far... I just ordered my Megasquirt last night, I'll tune for gas and when the E85 is around i'll start the process again.
  22. as long as the pipe isn't merging with the main exhaust then you'll be fine with any size. If you are merging with the main exhaust, then you'll want the pipe to be around 18" long before merging
