  1. After reading all of this, I am still confuzed. If one wants to use an OBX diff in a 240z using 300zxt shafts does the base model 240sx unit work? If one wants to use 280z r200 stock half shafts does the base model 240sx unit work? Thanks.
  2. Yes I did use the same headers, the engine sits a bit lower. The funny thing is that I am pretty sure the stock starter fits in. That is a good point but I am pretty sure I can do it with out cutting and welding since there is widely available splined shaft in various lengths, and I don't have anything to weld it back with.
  3. I agree, but I just bought these headers that did fit on another Ford 302 swap. My mount has been modified and such so that the engine sits really low and back. I am going to relocate the shaft, was just wondering if anyone else had any tips or part numbers to make it easier. Looking at the parts availability though, it seems like it won't be too hard once I get the spline count.
  4. Yes I did, I could not find spline coutns anywhere and very little on the steering relocation. I will try more terms I guess.
  5. I have to rebuild the steering shaft on my 72 240z. The Ford 302 headers don't clear by about 1/2". I was wondering a couple of things: -Does anyone happened to know the diameter and the spline count off the top of their head for the datsun steering shaft at the coupler and the rack end? -Does anyone who has already done this have a list of the part numbers they used and an approximate cost?
  6. Thanks, thats a pretty good comparison. I like it when details are included. I would call the two motors probably about the same weight if the 302 was iron headed... did they sell iron headed L series?
  7. So the L28 is 85lbs lighter than the 302? Intresting. I did search alot of keywords, but I never could come back with anything really solid. Or people would not explain what was on the engine weighed.
  8. Sweet! What does your 302 have done to it?
  9. Does anyone know first hand, or have a link to a reliable source for these engine weights? I see the Ford 302 weighing 405lbs if it is a GT40 alluminum head, and the SR20DET at 490lbs "complete", the L6 no clue. I would like to know alot what the weights are as well as what is on the engine with that descrived wieght. I searched alot, but just found uncomprehensive or unreliable results. Thanks.
  10. At that point why not just buy Watanabe's and have them fit perfectly with center caps?
  11. That is Alsils mount I believe. 73botiz (mike) makes them and if I am correct has always made them for him. It is a great mount and is high quality. I have one. Good stuff.
  12. Ya I agree, I just couldn't find what I wanted in 245/45 . Oh well, looks like I will just be trimming the lower front valance. How the hell do people fit the 16X9 watanabes on? Low aspect ratio?
  13. Yep, the issue is with the front of the wheel rubbing on the front lower valance, kind of right where the fender meets it.
  14. My baby got its front tires on today! That ^ is all the way lowered on 8" springs I think? Using MM coil overs, in either case, I think the bumpsteer spacers did alot to keep those LCA's pointing down. Love that shot ^ Oilpan below the frame rails... The car is running 245/50/16 and there is a bit of rubbing going on as you can see. Wheels are 16X8 +10. There is no rubbing if I do not use a spacer, or if the car is on jacks, but I have added 1/4" of space to clear the toyota brake swap. Basically I am just wondering if anyone can give me tips as to how to fix this issue (other than smaller tires)? I was thinking that I could grind the calipers down a bit and it would clear, but I honestly like the added track of a small spacer, since I want to eventually add ZG's and it looks mean like that. Maybe when the ZG's go in I can cut back the panel a bit? Any ideas? Thanks!
  15. Yes the 351W is the exact same (externally) as a 302 except for a taller deck height to accomodate more stroke. Not sure if a 5.0L HO intake will bolt up though.... might just get a bronco EFI intake.
  16. Nice man. You can almost drain the oil out the front sump. We are going to have to make a new oil drain for it. Did the normal PH8A size oil filter fight right in? I assume you removed the old mounts as well?
  17. Not sure about Z31's but I believe there are both s30's with the EFI swap as well as s30's with Ford 8.8" around. I personally think your idea is good one compared to upgrading the stock motor. It would take a considerable amount more boost and modifications to the stock unit to make it beat even a stock Chevy 350 (depending on year I guess).
  18. Would you happen to have a picture of where the stock mustang pans front sump sits in relation to the cross member, just wondering. I really think you got a cool setup
  19. yes 83 I do believe. I used Rustoleum (the homedept stuff) "high heat" paint. It is typically used for BBQ's. Check it out!
  20. Check out this HO paint job of my valve covers Adds +10hp. But my finger almost got sanded off in the process.
  21. Damn I think I know that girl too! Is the C6 night and day to the C5?
