  1. Cool story! Switching schools has definately been such a bonus. I could be freezing my a$$ off in Chicago right now, but instead I'm enjoying almost 80* weather. Of course I'm going to be singing a different tune later as I have no A/C.... Yay for being a good samaritan! Mario
  2. I went to the JY and got the early (79-80) post covers. I can't remember if they're aluminum or stainless, but they bolted right up and look 100 times better IMHO... Mario
  3. I don't think it would work all that well with the sloppy Z trans. I think if you adapted a 240sx tranny and stuck a quick shifter with the gate bolted on where the shifter is at (to the actual trans) I think it would actually work. Mario
  4. It tells the ECU where the throttle is at (kinda). It closes 2 pins at idle, opens on part throttle, and then closes the two other pins at WOT. On the turbo ECU, it only tells the computer when it is closed, the computer then handles closed loop part throttle and WOT using other sensors. The ECU then actually changes the way it manages fuel. Mario
  5. Look into the ssautochrome tial rip off BOVs. There was a thread about them recently and apparently they're a nice peace/ Mario
  6. Wow when you first started it I thought it was a v8! Talk about a lumpy idle! Mario
  7. I think they are aftermarket for some VWs. The color is awesome, and I love the front end treatment, just don't park too close to the curb Mairo
  8. There's a write up on the articles at Zcar.com. One thing it mentions is that this tranny will not take much abuse from a turbo engine. For that the article talks about adapting a beefier auto from a Starion I think.... Mario
  9. High Response or something like that. I just a badder, meaner, VQ. Mario
  10. It had a wideband, just not hooked up to the MS itself. I used to build them for board members, but I don't have any of my soldering tools at school anymore... Mario
  11. You can't run EDIS with the CAS setup on the 81. You have to mount a trigger wheel. Mario
  12. Pfff, that's why you get a DB9 with the same engine, better proportions (IMHO), and a 6 speed. Like stated earlier, stripped out models of cars have been flopping, from the Evo to the Miata. What needs to happen is the public needs to get weened off this HP addiction. Mario
  13. Yea they're a pain on the later 280z's. Does anyone know if they can be easily replaced by another bolt setup that doesn't have that weird top on the forward facing side? Like the grade required, and if there is grinding required to fit them. Basically be able to unbolt them from the front. Mario
  14. In my defense I had just gotten out of a mind melting class Mario
  15. Saw this thing on Future Weapons. It's ridiculous!!! Mario
  16. If it's EFI you might have done a lot of damage. I've heard of a lot of people frying their ECU just by doing this. Hopefully that won't be your case. Mario
  17. Didn't JeffP pick up some rediculous amount of HP just by a downpipe change? I mean I know the stock DP is more then enough for your goals, but I'd get the DP with 45* bends. Mario
  18. Does it have the VQ35HR? Or is it still the DE? The G35c is one of my favorite current cars, I really dig the styling. Mario
  19. Oh man the fanboys are going to have a field day with this one!!! Mario
  20. If you flip it over will it still blow in the right direction? Mario
  21. People have had really good results sticking glass packs and bullet mufflers in the tranny tunnel. This might also get rid of the resonance at ~2.5k rpm, and has been known to get rid of the "boominess" of the MSA super turbo exhaust. Mario
  22. Why are adjustable ones bling-y? I thought it was good to put some preload on them. But I agree that hiem joints are the best idea... Mario
  23. Paint the intercooler black or hide it some how! That thing is an awesome/hilarious sleeper! Mario
  24. eBay wants $250-300+ and then shipping, and I don't even get to see it first... I don't mind getting dirty and pulling one out (in fact I've done it in Phoenix in 110 deg weather). I just need to find one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg (college student = broke)... Mario
  25. What the heck.... I've called like 10 junkyards today. ONLY ONE had a Z tranny, a 79 5 speed (which is the same one in the car now), and they wanted $350 PLUS exchange?!?! I have also found only one 240sx tranny so far (haven't called everywhere yet ) and they want $250 plus exchange. WTF? I paid $100 for my 83 280zx 5 speed in my turbo Z like 1.5 years ago... That included slave, flywheel, pp, EVERYTHING. I'm going to hope the tranny lasts to Phoenix and I'll be digging through pick and pulls there cuz this is just rediculous..... Mario
