  1. So in my Zs recent attempt to make me want to blow it up or burn it, it has taken it to the next level. Coming back to school this weekend about 40miles outside of Tucson it decides it doesn't want to have a 5th gear anymore, or reverse for that matter... (I know early 5 speeds have this problem) So I need a new tranny (this one leaks, 2nd and 4th gear syncro going, etc). I'm thinking a late 280zx 5 speed (I like the ratios better) or if I can convince my dad to chip in a KA tranny swap. Problem is I'm 4 hours from home... I'm going to go shop around the junkyards and see if I can find one of said transmissions. So, will my transmission lockup/blow up/grenade or can I drive it around while I look for the parts?   2. I've never heard about the mounts getting ripped off from the 1 1/8" bar. Damn.... now I'm going to look into getting mine strengthened. My car has the 1 1/8" front and 7/8" rear, it's also lowered almost 3in, it corners very flat. It is very neutral, possibly too much so for my inexperience... Mario

  4. The throwout collar is only a problem when it won't let you disengage the clutch right? I've mixed and matched parts (77 5 speed with a 240mm clutch and flywheel with the 5 speed TO collar) and ended up with a high clutch pedal but no problems with engagement. I should be able to correct this with an adjustable slave cylinder rod right? (Or just grind it down until I like it) The clutch master doesn't have enough adjustment to make it low enough for my liking, Mario

  6. What is full boost? Is this an engine and ecu swap? Or just bolted on turbo parts? Need more info please. Mario

  8. You need to make sure the LM-1's outputs are 0-5v, which I believe is the default when in MS's wideband mode.   10. When I was almost 16 I started looking into Zs for a first car. Zcar.com was the first forum I found with info and thought it a good idea to put the vitals in my screen name, hence mario_83_280ZX_NA I then lurked here for over a year, and I think I joined when I got my ZXT and decided to install MSnS-E, since my ZXT was priority I changed it to mario_82_zxt. It's weird because everywhere else I use Mafoose, which I got from two friends, one that wanted to stick me with Mufasa as a nickname, and one that said I was like Foose cuz we were both into overhaulin' and thats pretty much all we talked about during class. I used it as a Halo handle when the first Halo was all the rage, and it stuck since then. I've thought about changing it here to that. Mario
  11. Didn't we have a huge debate about where to put it? Saying it would heat soak on the intake manifold, etc? I put mine in the tubing about 6" before the TB Mario
  12. Hmm... eBay but I'm not seeing them anymore. JLB had the $500 BIN ones but also had some starting at $279.99 plus $70 shipping. I called them to ask them about wheel weight and they wanted to sell me on a "special" non-eBay price of $400 plus actual shipping (not flat rate). I told them I'd take my chances on the eBay ones, and well no one else bid on them Mario

  15. I hope they aren't crap because I just bought some. I'm just saving up some money to throw on some tires on them before I mount them to my car. Plus I got them cheaper then the Sportmaxx's and they don't hhave fake rivets to rust. Mario
  16. Yea they're FWD offset it seems. You want something with 0 offset if you don't want to run spacers... Mario
  17. Get a wiring diagram. There's at least two pairs of wires I think. One needs power full time (to keep time while the key is off), one lights the LCD display. You'll be lucky if it works nice. Even after resoldering mine, it sometimes resets itself. It does look cool and old school. Mario
  18. You can't make your's sound remotely like that without a turbo. A turbo really does weird things to the exhaust note. On another note... no sound clips here but I've heard supertrapps on NA are VERY loud. Mario
  19. you can also swap the guts into a 280zx afm. It's a larger bore I think. Edit: Ooops, did mean to say turbo 280zx... I was watching tv and doing homework and so I obviously can't multitask... Mario

  21. Ron, Mine also comes with a vacuum bypass, but also a little electronic valve that controls it. Basically I'm hoping to be able to choose between sensible gas mileage and best performance at a flick of the switch. I need to post pics of the monster because it has more ports than yours that I have no idea what to do with. Mario
