I live in an area that is affluent with money and folks don't seem to mind spending it. I'm looking at a few businesses existing and starts ups too. I feel that this board taps into a cross section of America that is full of wonderful ideas. If I could ask you all a few questions. What businesses are thriving in your area? What type of business would you open if able? Now I know many of you may say, “Open a Z car business†or something related which I am not eliminating, however I am open to ALL aspects of business. Put some thought into what you recommend. Please don’t ask about my capital requirements or hijack the thread on your “brother-in-laws†business gone bad. All I’m asking for is ideas. Upon some investigation I found that there is a spray system using truck bed coating for garage floors. Looked very interesting. Well, those 'geeks' spend money. Lots and lots of money. The video games industry is bigger than the movie and music industries and at its current growth rate it will be bigger than both of them put together in a matter of years. Thus far the Virtual Reality sector has not taken off quiet as well as I had imagined it would but it's out there and it's ready to explode with the ever increasing advancement of technology and it's shift to portability. BillZ260 Posted January 6, 2005 Share Posted January 6, 2005 Personally, I would open a fabrication shop not limited to welding, but everything. Cabinetry, Machine work, Welding. You could incorporate stuff into the other fields and truely do one off stuff or prototypes. I also have a very good friend that is an electircal engineer, so he could develop some stuff in that field as well. I would try to set up some small run jobs that would keep $$ flow but allow me enough time to develop some of my own products to sell. Which would be some sort of furniture incorporating steel and wood and also maybe some car parts stuff like JSK does. What you want is something you can hire employees to take care of and then move on to the next money making venture. Setup a system for your employees to run and then let them, all you do is keep an eye on it. Dry Cleaners are good and so is realestate but the area needs to be the right type for either to work well. It's hard to make good steady money in realestate in an upscale neighborhood unless your selling it. Look for an average or low average area with rentals and invest there, let someone else pay the mortgage and you can also generate a decent cash-flow. I've currently got 5 units and clear about $750.00 a month positive cash flow after all expenses and I only spend about 10-15 hours a month in management and maintenance time and a little more when I have an empty unit. Video store (BlockBuster or HollyWood Video franchise) PayDay Loan store. Check into local laws first though. Landscaping company Mobile Car wash/detailing Self Service car wash Self Service Laudramat. I would also detail your vehicle/boat/plane using my products if you don't want to buy and wash yourself. Upscale types, especially those at car shows, and body shop owners are some of my best customers. Ask Jay Leno, he has used the same products I sell. It is a distributorship, so you are the owner/wholesaler, and yes, you can assign people to work the business while you either supply them or just do the administration end. Dry Cleaners (we're overrun at this point) same with car washes. Five years ago I would have done either but didn't have the capital to do so, darn that's for sure. I've thought about a nice arcade next to the local movie theather, one with upperend multi player games. I'm sure I could clean up pretty good with that one. Parents could drop the kids off at the arcade then later they could go to the show. If you've ever been to an ESPN Sports Zone then you'd know what I was talking about. Of course NO alcohol, just trying to keep it family oriented. Mikelly, jiggy joint ROTFLMAO!!! First I live in a dry county, second my wife, well I'll leave it at that. I still use the stuff on my car. Love the shine. Hey how do you handle a really muddy or dirty car though when your detailing with it?
