OlderThanMe
On the mopar site someone talked about rolling on mettalics doesn't work too well. I guess you could spray it on though.
mario_82_ZXT
Maybe I missed this somewhere, but is this applied to bare metal originally or primer? I'm seriously looking into this... Mario

Ledphoot
Gang just remember one thing. You are using an oil based enamel, so if you EVER want to do a "real" paintjob you will have to strip the entire car to bare metal. No automotive paint will stick to anything oil based, and no sealer will compensate. Just FYI!
OlderThanMe
yeah...that is true. Or just sand past the rustoleum... but it will be after I graduate from college until I get a real paint job...and I will be doing some serious body mods before that too. OlderThanMe
I've been working a lot lately so I haven't gotten much done in the last few days. Probably get the last coat on the roof tomorrow.
240zV8
are you sanding it smooth after every coat? You should be able to just do a quick scuff for each coat then do the final sanding all the way smooth. I'm not sure if your doing that, but it would go pretty fast that way, because this stuff does take awhile to get smooth and polished. OlderThanMe
that's for sure...I am sanding every 2 coats or so. I still did not get anything done on my car because I got drafted to help try to get our Porsche 944 turbo running again. 4 hours of reassembly later and crank it up and it still idles at 2400rpms...ARG!!! 73_240z
i might have also missed this also but what nap are you using. Are you using very fine or rough? I'm assuming fine but i figured I would ask beforehand.
kellhammer
Use the fine white foam rollers. Like 5 bucks for a 4 pak
OlderThanMe
Yes the high density foam rollers. I am getting my L26 bottom end back together so painting is still going slow (It's too cold to wetsand!).
cygnusx1
With all the sanding labor that goes on to get the final shine from the rustoleum, wouldn't it be easier to spray it on instead of rolling to minimized the sanding. And why not use "real" car paint instead of rustoleum either roller or spray? I am not at all educated in the art of paint and bodywork that's why I ask these basic questions.
