Careless
DAMN. I was going to come in and post this. It's true. He's been said to have crashed in a helicopter accident on his private residence, in his own helicopter, which he piloted with his license. I don't know the guy, I never met the guy. But I watched him in many rallies televised at a young age, and his video game for the psx was the first game that got me into learning more about what modifications benefit automobiles and such. He's an inspiration to me for starting at such a young age, in his parent's backyard farms with their cars while they were sleeping. If he's indeed no longer with us, then... RIP Colin McRae. slownrusty
Very sad...I used to be addicted to WRC back in the '90s to early 2000s when McRae used to battle Makinen, Burns, Arriol and Sainz to name a few. Colin was one of my favs, as he was the "cool hand luke" of the drivers, but was plagued with either crashes, unreliable cars or poor luck. Sad he leaves back a young wife and family. A true loss in the world of Motorsport. Yasin
proxlamus©
What!! are you effn kidding?! no no no this cant be happening.. Oh God... its true WRC.comSpeaking on behalf of the whole family, Colin's father, Jim McRae, said today: "It is with much sadness and regret that we have to make this statement. It is unbelievable that Colin and Johnny's lives have been taken so prematurely and in such a tragic manner. Colin was a great son, a loving husband to Alison and a fantastic father to Johnny and his big sister Hollie. Johnny was a great wee guy, spending every spare minute with his dad, and even at this early stage it looked like he had the potential to carry on the family dynasty. Our thoughts are also very much with the families of Ben Porcelli and Graeme Duncan. Ben was a great buddy of Johnny's and they had always spent a lot of time together both in and out of school. Graeme, who now resides in France, had been a close friend of Colin's since their schooldays and was back in Lanark on holiday. We are thankful for the overwhelming number of messages of support we have received from all around the world. Colin was very much an inspiration and role model to motorsport fans the world over. As you can imagine this is a very difficult time for the family and we would ask that our privacy be respected and we be allowed to grieve in private." this is awful.. one of my heroes
