  1. Have thought of getting an Infinity front clip? I don't know what model but Infinity had a SR20 in one of their models State side, but its a NA motor (no turbo ). I could be wrong. Search ofr infinty here at Hybridz and I'm sure that you can find something. I think it was the g20 or the m20, I don't know infinity models very well.
  2. Its not really the oil pump that you need, but the shaft that drives the oilpump and the distributor. the 82-83 turbo dizzy has a different type of connection to the shaft. I can post pics of the differences. the 81 turbo, I beleive cand fit but it also has a vacuum advance. the reason why you would need a 82-83 dizzy OR a z31 chopper wheel is because the 92 ecu needs a crank angle sensor. As for trying to do ii, I so go for it!
  3. Well my dad is helping me with everything (more like supervising) he used to do it all the time, more on framed cars than unibody cars though.
  4. I really like black especially on the sexy lines of the first gen Z, but black also reveals imperfection a whole lot more than lets say white. body prep/work has to be cherry if you want it to look good.
  5. I want to hear you results and your oppinion on the subi rack. would a forester rack be better or a wrx?
  6. sweet. I want a pair, but first I have to get these price isn't that bad either, ranging from $650-$750 but thats just fo rthe wheels though. I'm keeping my source a secrect
  7. I thought that the fly wheel was suppose to come with the specs need for install? I don't know that it is for the l20, you can search for it but I think what you will find are numbers for the l24-l28 engines.
  8. Like the title says, I am going to cut my 2 280z in halft and weld them back together again. reason being is that the front end on one is in MUCH better condition than the back and vice versa with the other. My question is where to cut. I was thinking about the end of the rockers and right before the 1.4 windows. I know to measure a million times and cut once. Another reason is that I am going to build and install a 8 point roli cage which would be easier to weld and install with it/them in half. A little off the subject but has anyone made/sell a fiberglass hatch for the first gen Z? I was just wondering. If not I was thinking of making one and if it turns up nice enough and if there is enough demand to start making/ selling them. But if someone else already does, then why should I then. Any added input is apreciated.
  9. I could be wrong but could it be a kaminari WB kit for the zx before they stop production?
  10. I'm not an expert but it sounds like it would be easier to do body work on afterwards. Think about what you would have to do to do repairs for dents. sand down the area, then plastic filler, sand, then primer, then paint, and not wash the car for 2 weeks (let it cure completely). with 2 stage it would be alot more steps and I wouldn't think that it would look right afterwards. Anyways personally I would at least put a basecoat before single stage, just to make it thorogh. Added befiets for 2 stage is that is stronger than single stage and doesn't chip as much as single, but that is do to layering coats before the previous layer is set (not cured, flash time). I would use a epoxy primer (2 part primer) maybe 2 coats, then as many coats of single that you want. For most paints the flash time is 15-30 min, just to the point that when you check by touch that the strands of paint strech to about an inche. You probably know more about paint than me, but I like to remind my self some times:D and some else might learn something.
  11. I have a question: What block did the NA 280zx come with? I can get my hands on a long block, but its NA and if its basically the same as my n47 then I don't think its worth the effort. And would using a z31 electronics work? I know I have to weld a bum on the n47 (if I'm going to use that) for the pinging sensor. What other things would I have problems with? Is getting a p79 or p90 head even worth it over the n42 head that I have (I have 2 complete engines [n42 and n47]) using it for my turbo application? edit: Oh keep in mind this is for autox and street app.
  12. Well I already have a turbo dizzy. but I need to get the turbo oil pump and shaft for it to fit. And I need to find where I can get my hands on a turbo wiring harness and ecu. Any ways that is what I was planning on doing anyways. Living in alaska sucks. I was even thinking of megasquirting it, but I know of noone up here to help me with that.
  13. As the title said I want to turbo my engine (rebuild for it) but do I advance the spark or retard it on boost? How would I do that on a vacuum adavnce dizzy, or would I have to buy a special dizzy for it? Any additional info is welcomed. The reason I want to turbo my NA 280z motor instead of doing a swap is because I can't find a zx turbo engine up here.
  14. Have you checked the tire pressure? That is probably the most overlooked thing when it comes to steering problems.
  15. Just remeber to get the crank balanced. Nissan didn't really balance the LD cranks very well (I think they only balanced it up to 5000 rpm, seeing that diesels wouldn't be used over that rpm) or else the harmonic balancer will come flying apart. Just remeber to get everything balanced as a assembly.
  16. I don't think he was reffering to the engine. I think he was reffering to the floor of the car, they tend to rust out faster then when you owould have to replace the oil pan.
  17. Are you talking about the internals or external? The best way I could think of to clean the exterior is to use a pressure steam cleaner, it will clean the crap on the outisde right off. for internals I say drain everything and run new fuilds for i.e. oil, coolent, ect. then running it for an hour.
  18. Don't know about the turbo models. From my understanding, the automatics came with the r180 and the manuals came with the r200. I have read somewhere of people using the lsd out of subarus. Don't know if the turbo automatics came with r200 though.
  19. Well I figured it out know. There was a spacer adaptor thingy that was on where the distributor was. Thats why I was confused and thaaough that it shouuld fit. It was covered in grease and dirt thats why I thought that it didn't fit. Well I think I'm going to install just the FI part of the MSNS for now and later on install the rest when I get the shaft and turbo oil pump for it later on.
  20. Are they new or used injectors and what are or what car are they for? If your running High impedence injectors with a resistor then that could cause some sort of problem but nothing like what you described, If its low impedence injectors with out the resistors then it could be that they are now fryed. Check by touching the injectors when its running and see if they get hot. You did say modified computer, right. If its megasquirts, then it could be the something with the crank angle sensor settings for it, but I don't know MS too well. Just throwing some ideas that might help.
  21. Do I even need a CAS for just MS? Or do I just need it if I'm trying to do MSNS? I've read before that I could just use a CAS from a z31, but I don't get how to install one on a L28. I got the dizzy because I though that it would be a simple install, guess I was wrong. Any input or seggustions?
  22. I want to install megasquirts on my engine and from reading some of the threads here it says that I need a zxt dizzy because I need the CAS. how do I put it on? the mounting is totally different. This is going on a n42 block BTW from a 280z.
  23. lol I just keep finding parts. All the z cars up here have badly rusted bodies (totaled) but all th eparts are still good due to the road tar or under coat, but all that crap is hard to get off.
  24. Well I have one but I don't think that we can meet up. I live in alaska. Ihave 2 280z and am parting out one. Contact me if you're still interested.
