  1. The price list you got i think can be done wayyy cheaper.. I bought a replacement subframe for my s13 for 80 bucks at a local shop, but it was bare since i bent mine from drifting.. But usually you could probably find one around 200 or so if you check 240sx forums. I picked up a full z32 rear end (mainly suspension arms and the whole brakes) for $100, but that was just luck and i slapped the brakes into my 240sx. Advantage over subframes?? None- mainly just different mounting locations, as s14 is spread further outward if I recall.. J30 subframe will work as well. Id stay away from using a HICAS model s13 rear subframe, I dont think You would be able to make that work (nor would u want it, it wieghts more as well). S15 silvia subframe has its advantages over both, I forget why, but S14 suspension arms are compatible with it and its mounting points are simular to the s13. Running 240sx rear coilovers will have tons of adjustibility, but your going to have to match them up in the front with something exceptionally stiff. 240sx coilovers are probably going to feel alot stiffer on a Z.
  2. Bhmotorsports.com cool site for pc racing games!! I play richard burns rally, really great game, it never gets borring.. grand prix legends is good with tons of add ons to update the game. GTR is a badass game , try the demo. Live 4 speed is wack to me.
  3. yah im thinking s14 should be the way to go.. cuz i rememebr the height of the rear coilovers being longer.. if you go with coilovers, you can fine adjust it, and be set. hope that helps! post pics =D
  4. what year subframe did you install? 89-94 s13, or 95-98 S14? S14 has longer rears, so try that.
  5. or maybe TBO.. theres alot of oldskool kits for this car.. I like this one Yah i know I couldnt help ur question, i probably just lead you to more questions.. lol..
  6. id start out with the diff.. perferably run a 1.5 way. I think the car will need alot of fabrication as far as suspension arms etc.. Look into weld in camber plates for front and rear. arizonazcar.com is your best bet. Just run that kind of coilover sleeve kit, and Tokico Illumina shocks. As far as spring rate, your going to have to play around wiht those. CHassis stiffening fabrication should apply as well, but might interfere in what kind of classes you may run..
  7. FD is a sweet car... But if your wanting one to put a LS1 into it.. your getting the wrong car. What makes the 7 special is the rotary turbo.. Cant get that feeling out of a v8.. go with something else. Theres already alot of redneck tuned rx7s out there that ruin the balance and handling. THe high reving rotary and the sound of the redline buzzer is cool. Id suggest putting a 20b 3 rotor in if you want something special..
  8. yah alot of my friends mistake the too... I saw a nice orange 240z last night with a friend and i wanted to see if he/she would want to sell it, but my friends kept saying it was a 280z.. when i was a kid i didnt really care and thought they all looked the same.. but im lookin for a Z and perferably a 240z becuase it looks more "classic" instead of the big fat bumpers.. here is a Japanese tuned 240z *just Fairlady Z in its home market* Never seen a 280z look like nostalgic. But dont let this become a 240z vs. 280z thread, theres alot of those, which are all opinion based and biased towards who drives what. Both great cars.
  9. Anyone know where I can get a good deal on hypercoils??
  10. Could remove the front bumper for your advantage Hard decision, they booth look good. Im thinking the z31 would be a better chassis tho becuase it is more modern. Z31 has better brakes? Option for more rim selection (either 4 or 5lug), possibly better suspension, more diff selection (if 240sx diffs fit?)... Id think it would be a lighter chassis?
  11. hehe FN01Rs on a S30! never thought I would see that.. clean modern look. A lower offset would have looked better tho IMO *would look more dished*. I got same rims on my 240sx, but the rear is 18x9.5 +12 offset. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/streetphase/ca4rt.jpg Have a few questions: What parts did you use for the 5lug swap? Is it possible to drill out the front hubs and put in new studs? I did this to my 240sx. What suspension are you running? Im interested in how the camber adjustment plates are set up, Do you just slot the stock mount or are thier actually plates welded on? Have you considered running some front/rear spoiler set up? Would look alot more agressive and help stablity with all that hp your packing.. =D
  12. was that a 280z? looks soo good, instead of being picky and looking for a 240z, i should prolly just settle for whatever nice chassis i find.
  13. looks hot! i love the do it yourself work.. more appreciation towards the car and its owner.
  14. welcome to teh forums.. The car doesnt have seperate body/frame.. it is all 1 piece (monochassis whatever you want to call it). Regarding wheels, that is all personal opinion. It is up to you. I perfer Watanabes tho since it matches the car of its era. Timeless look. None of that redneck hillbilly stuff.. THe right sized wheels/offset set the car off really nice. See how nicely match the outside of the wheel is flush to the body? Regarding the drive shaft, if you get the RB20, hopefully they will include the driveshaft end piece that slides into it, just take that and the stock driveshaft to a shop to have them weld that piece on and balance it.
  15. as far as adjusting ride height, would the 8inch springs allow more drop? If lets say I set teh car for a really low drop, could the koni's handle such a more stressful ride esp if the spring rate is really stiff, say 300 and above? Car would be set towards drift/track, so messing up the susp geometry towards grip wouldnt really mater. Just trying to learn more about the z, this coming from a 240sx owner who runs on full coilovers which are mostly alot stiffer then the usual spring/shock combos. and usually the front spring rate will be stiffer then the front on these cars.
  16. try compressing the suspension with a jack to get an idea how much travel you have.
  17. If you are looking for a mild set up.. I suggest rolling/pulling the fender.. We did mine with a baseball bat to my 240sx. Done to fit wider wheels. Before when it was damaged http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/streetphase/DSC00552.jpg Repaird http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/streetphase/100_0420.jpg After the pull http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/streetphase/100_0516.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/streetphase/100_06082.jpg Don't mind the negative camber, its til I get adjustible control arms. I actually dont know if it would work on a Z tho... might "dimple" above the arch.
  18. Make a torrent file or upload an .avi somewhere for us! =D
  19. I hope your japanese.. In socal, if your not Japanese, we would laugh and call you ricer. hah
  20. One of the local "import shops" told me that they patch holes with JB Weld, then sand or grind em down.. I actually did this to my 240sx. I hear bad things about Bondo brand, so use Evercoat. I used a drill type body puller. But hey its my first time learning body work. Before http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/streetphase/DSC00552.jpg After http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/streetphase/100_0420.jpg As of today http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/streetphase/100_0537.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/streetphase/100_0536.jpg *Flat spot is from the fender pulling to fit wider wheels* Anyways, well Im not too worried, as long as the body filler does its wear and tear before I paint it, its ok. But probably not as bad as a 30+ year old car...
  21. offtopic- I love your z man!!! good luck.. looks sick Its a 280z? looks like you converted the rear bumper, did you do the tail lights too?? suggestion would be to shave the rear side lights like the JDM car if your going for that theme..
  22. raceon sells it cheaper then where they source it from, http://www.importfan.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=104_357_346&products_id=2114 Id get it. as long as its lighter then OEM, still looks great. just dont know if its worth ruining the classic looks of a z with a carbon hood.
  23. at least it didnt touch the rear panals or windshields,... those are harder to replace, and the rear panals would never be the same..
  24. photoshop it first.. I think rally strips is soo oldskool trend now.. bueatiful car by the way.. =D
