  1. Looks good. Any thought on doing the lights behind the reflector?
  2. Replied, i need it shipped if not local to 951 Riverside area. Let me know guys thanks!
  3. Cracked my 260z balance tube removing a barb fitting, so now wanting to convert to the cleaner simpler 70-72 240z balance tube. Preferably cheap as money is tight. Let me know , thanks guys!
  4. hey that looks pretty good, you may be onto something. =) I was one of the first guys in the states (seen a few in japan do it at the time) to fit trailer LED lights into my old rx7, it was fairly easy, just cutting out the circuit board and gluing them in place pretty much. I actually painted over the inside LEDS black just so i could get the halo look. Lasted til i parted the car out when i blew the engine and couldn't afford to rebuild , since than sold the tail lights to a friend who still runs them daily on his rx7. https://scontent-a-lax.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash2/t1.0-9/23451_381133193556_4180984_n.jpg
  5. i photoshopped this pic a few weeks ago with the idea of doing it myself. Havent seen anyone do a LED setup to zenki/kouki s30 tail lights that i liked yet. I think round ones in there would look like poo imo. Try to fit the overall shape of the tail light design for a better look imo. Only issue is the textured lens might take away from it imo.
  6. Havent tried molding yet.. The clay shrunk a bit, and detached from the tape i had setup.. I already wish i would have spent the amount for actual headlight lens. Gotta be a smarter way to do it =\
  7. hopefully this is sufficient enough. Probably need to add just a little bit more material. Just takes days to dry. Im not planing to stuff it in the oven, my gnose is 2 piece.. but hoping to be able to grab the acrylic fresh out the oven than just toss it on. Good idea with the velvet, i will have to pick some up.
  8. Picked up some crayola air dry clay, gonna maybe stretch duct tape across the scoops, than lay the clay over it. Than try molding the lens to it.
  9. Model clay may be interesting.. Would have to make the shape. fill the whole scoop up with model clay, bring in near the oven and toss the lens on top of it. I just dont know how cost effective that would be.
  10. Looks like i will have to mold it over something. Tried to handle it manually with one of the lens in the oven than forming it on my knee, gets wrinkles... Just gotta figure out what can i use to get that shape.
  11. maybe i can heat it up and gently push on it with my knee (padded with towels of course). Either heat it with heat gun or bake in oven. I wonder if I leave the rings on when I bake it, will the rings burn the acrylic?
  12. Ok so i made some headlight covers for my gnose. Real gnose rings used (sourced from yahooauctions.co.jp) as it was the most suitable option (and most cost effective as they where a bit cheaper than full covers). Fairly straight forward.. I didn't heat up the acrylic, just bended it to fit the rings. I could use some advice on getting them into a more "bubble" shape like the originals They fit nicely, but are more of a straight cone-ish shape, rather than a contoured bubble. Would appreciate if anyone has suggestions on getting that shape correctly. I know i may need to heat them up at this point but im not sure how. I got a heat gun.
  13. I proceeded to remove the housings from the front end, and broke the studs that mount it to the corner valance. I tried soaking them at first with a penetrating spray but obviously 40+years have been hard on them studs. I need to replace the passenger side lens anyways, in which I see blackdragon sells them for a good price. But are those studs replaceable?
  14. honda civics and acura caps fit. (i looked up caps on autozone's site and compared them to different year cars). Alot of the aluminum caps you see on ebay will be hks knock offs.. If you want to spend the extra cash for an HKS cap (extra cool points) you can. Heres mine https://scontent-a-lax.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/t1.0-9/1902960_10152145216453557_1399408692_n.jpg
  15. i ended up turning to yahoo.co.jp for some rings, waiting for them to come in. Interesting enough, spotted these online http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/autostyle/item/cta203a1830001/?s-id=borderless_browsehist_en http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/autostyle/item/cta203a1831001/?s-id=borderless_browsehist_en
  16. That is his old setup, you should see it now http://minkara.carview.co.jp/en/userid/357364/blog/
  17. Most pictures ive seen of japanese Zs with flares, are just riveted on with no fender welting. Japanese -made fiberglass parts tend to be high quality. Where as copied parts elsewhere, lose a bit of the fitment quality from decades of duplication. I got a set of jdmflares.com , and the flares lost alot of that flat mounting surface that the original styles had https://scontent-a-lax.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn2/t1.0-9/1891191_10152116762463557_101635720_n.jpg
  18. looks nice. May i suggest fender rolling? that way you have room for wheel/tire clearance. sample pic from google http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OCuv7tLu5SQ/TZpi1kSMPyI/AAAAAAAAAEY/0cHqenzW6zg/s1600/IMG_8640.JPG
  19. Most pictures Ive seen of Japanese cars seem to run it since they have the spot for the emblems. I take it they probably don't have much BRE influence over there. I do not own these pictures. Credit due to the rightful owners.
  20. Once you learn fiberglass, anything is possible. Just get one and modify it. I actually want to get this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240Z-260Z-JDM-Works-Style-Front-Spoiler-Air-Dam-NEW-30-J4501-/380771820206?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item58a7c4e2ae&vxp=mtr since its a copy of the factory works lip, just modded to regular non-gnose.. Just mod it back to fit g nose, and chop the ends off like alot of the jdm cars do BRE style might look a little something like this Found this on yahoo auctions japan
  21. Bought car with bad window regulator, doesn't roll up. So i want to replace it. Let me know what you got. My build date is 12/73 if that matters. I read 74-76 are the same. Thanks
  22. I say full paint solid... than do the strips in vinyl. Vinyl is very popular now a days. but this way if you get tired of the strips, you can take them off. =)
