  1. They didn't look like that when I was in high school either. God I am old enough to their father Someone actually was able to concentrate enough to be able to count across and down to come up with the number? Don
  2. From what I remember it is 87-89 300zx. The zxt would have a LSD but they are very hard to find. Don
  3. Yes I have spent more money since finding hybridz than I had ever planed on spending in the begining. Nothing is in the car now, but it's on wheels but there is just nothing else to the car now. BUT I think that my car (if it ever gets put together) will be stronger and stop better and be safer after finding hybridz. Don
  4. I know it's kind of strange, I came across it, I think two or or more years ago. I think it was before I found HybridZ. What is strange is someone puts up a web page and then forgets about it and never takes it down. What is cool is he spells out how he did it for $1000. It looks doable. Don P.S. The reason maybe, well you will figure it out if you click on the "photos" and see his email address.

    280z Halfshaft?

Call the wrecking yards. I have not found a lot of Z's in the seattle area but there are some around. Don
  6. Hey check this out. Cheaper than a jtr conversion. 302Z Don
  7. What makes me me get a kick out of this is they are comparing apples to oranges. They are talking how quick a Z is but wasn't it built for handling? Is a Z quicker around a tight track than a F body? I don't remember but I kind of think it is. Or don't these kids go around corners? Don
  8. The bolt size on a 83 is 10mm. It dosn't change until 87 after that it is 12mm. I think. I know 83s are 10mm because I have one. Don
  9. I am planning to run a 3.5 as a light car with a short tire needs the lower gears. My car is not running yet but I am hopping for summer. Don
  10. The R200 viscous R200 of the S32 Z's used the same size and spline count as the R200's of the S30 and S32 z's. The diffrence is the length of the shafts as they have to reach to a diffrent area in the viscous carrier to engage the viscous clutch on one side and the side gear (don't know the proper name) in the carrier. I have both carriers and shafts and have played around with them. Don
  11. It is close to the S32 90+ 300z. The front mount is diffrent on the Z compared to the 240sx but I don't rember what is diffrent. Don

    vlsd ??

The side stubs are the problem with a vlsd, they are diffrent lengths and are made for CV joint halfshafts and the halfshafts will not bolt into a early Z. Hope this helps. Don Ross you beat me just by a couple minutes
  13. I have a friend that has bought one of those for his 240sx. I think he was wondering what side stubs would go into it as his 240 sides don't. The 240sx uses the same diff as a Z32 if I am not mistaken, which has diffrent side stubs from a R200 from a Z30-Z31. The size and spline count are the same between the Z30-1 and Z32 it is the shaft length that is diffrent. So it would be my guess that the Zcar sides don't go in. It is just a guess but a slightly educated one. Be careful. Don

    Subtle Z

Welcome to this great board. I too would like a subtle Z but I couldn't come up with the funds at the time to get one. BTW where in washington are you from? There seems to be a quite few of us here and maybe we should all get together sometime and show and talk cars. Don
  15. I had never seen the site before but it looks like it could be a very informative. I think I could loose a dollar there and not feel like it was taken. Don
  16. Pete if that is your friend why did you (or he let you) put a chev in your beautiful car? Don
  17. I used a cut off wheel in my angle grinder to cut off the ears. I then ground off the spot welds to make a smooth surface. It was pretty quick to do. No holes in my floor from that just from the subframes. An AOD fits in ok but I think you will need to pull the motor to take out the tranny. The bolts are under the curve of the firewall. Does anyone else need to do this? Don
  18. Hey Street Legal are you in Vancouver Canada or washington? That car is going to be wicked. I see that it is going to have straight axle (9 inch?) in it. I think you might have traction problems and you might not want to drive it in the snow or ice. Would like to see it run at pacific raceways sometime. Good job. Don

    Supra LSD??

Paul what yard were you in? Were the other parts that cheap for the other cars? Don
  20. I am not a bowtie guy so my question is. Is the lt-5 the motor that chev had lotus design for them to put into the vette in the early 90's? My car looks like it could be a while to get it finished too, so when I get it going maybe I could show you how someone on the other side of the pass does it with a ford. Don
  21. Hi King Are you a local guy, I wondered when you mentioned Morrison, I assume you mean Art Morrison. If you are a local guy I would like to see the project when it's done and I would like to see it spank a viper. Don
  22. I have almost gotten into fights with people when I stated their 4WD could go but not stop better than car. It is strange and funny that they don't clue in until they are in the ditch. When they are it is never their fault but I laugh anyway. Don
  23. That looks like a bearing race to me (part of that is). I think you should plan to open it up pretty soon. Good luck. Don
  24. I have just done a mockup to see where my bars are likly to go and my question is. Without putting a hinge in the door bar. HOW do you get in the car gracefully? Or am I just too old and fat to get in, 42 5'10" @200 It's a 71 240 will be with 8pt roll bar. Don
  25. My Toyota Tacoma pu has a thing that compensates for the amount of load that is in the back. It does it by measuring how high the back is riding. From what I have found in 149k miles is I can't fault it. Then again I haven't tried to test it but the truck stops very well. Don
