  2. Jon I have thought a lot about building rear control arms but have not tried it yet. If you want to meet me and maybe have a pizza and something to drink I think I can help you a little (but mabe I think too much about what little I know). Don
  3. Congrats And wow 2000 posts makes me wonder whos the father (or conceved in front of the computer) Enjoy your new bundle of joy. Don
  4. Z8 I was wondering if you could post some pics or email me with them as I want to see if it is like my way and if it is what mine will look like when it's done. I used 2.5" angle on mine. Don
  5. This may sound dumb but how can I race my jackstands if my car is on them? Oh and how do you race them without wheels? Don Yes my car is holding them down on the ground.
  6. Guys you have ruined his surprise, unless he is very short. Other than that it looks good. Don
  7. Here is one on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=2444306562&category=46098 Don
  8. I don't know about the RRFPR but when I bought my LSD they were $100 cheaper than the nismo through nissan for the same part. Don
  9. Welcome Sorry I can't help with the header problem as I haven't gotten there yet but it will depend how you have your motor mounted. How did you mount the motor in using the frame? It seams like all the ford guys used a diffrent way to do it so there isn't a "standard" header that is used. What are you using for a tranny? Don
  10. But at those prices you could buy a rebuildable core, strip it and have it cleaned to use as a mockup. Heavier yes but more useable in the end. Don
  11. Will be 44 next month. I never thought I would be this old. Don
  12. Well it was raining here too. It was a good day, I got some stuff on the Z done but I don't have any friends who are into Z's though so it kind of quiet. The kids didn't bother me out there so now I have to deal with a wife that is fed up with kids iterrupting her and the kids themselves. Times like this why we go to work. Don
  13. What I want to know is what is it like driving a clutch LSD compared to driving a VLSD. My thoughts are the VLSD would be smother and more forgiving in the rain but would it take to long to "heat up" lockup lets say in a autox? I have both units and plan to try them both. That is if I ever get my car done. Don
  14. Ok so what I forgot to say is the two diffs I looked at were out of the car. I could turn the side shafts in opposite directions, it was smooth but it was hard to do. Don
  15. If I remember correctly a 351W is about 60lbs more than a 302. A 351M is really a truck motor that too heavy for a Z and has less power than a 351W. I have been told that the M stood for Midland and not modified. Don
  16. My father in law brought a lead hammer out to drive the stubs out with. It worked great to drive them out but the hammer did not look very happy after it as it did not look like it did before doing it. Threads came out looking great. Don
  17. I have just put everthing but the body parts in one pile under my house. Lots of the little parts and bolts into a couple buckets. Body parts are where ever they can fit and be out the way outsight. I plan to have fun putting this thing together as parts usally only fit one way, or so I hope. Don
  18. I follow F1 pretty closely and from what I remember ford never made a modern 12 cyl engine. They started the non turbo years running a V8 and now are running a V10. Those are NA engines and run on gas at a very high RPM (early redlined at 14K and modern ones 19K rpm) and as such that I doubt you could really get a Z car rolling with one. They are made for the teams and only for the teams that contracted to run them so you can't go to summit or Jeg's to get parts for them. Don
  19. Can someone email me the pic as it does not show for me. Don
  20. This is my test results on a couple viscous lsd's that I found. I could twist the side shafts with difficulty on a vlsd, on a open it spins easy. Don
  21. There is a lot of info on build ups for a 302. They can get 400hp pretty easy but you will need to get the right heads and intake matched with the right cam. Check out Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords starting in the August issue the are testing 13 cylinder heads in grouped into three sets. The first month of a set they tell about all the heads and test them on a flow bench. The second month of a set the slap them on a 302 (bored .030 for the first set) a 331 for the next higher performing second set and a 347ci for the all out (almost race) heads. First set was lower performace (smaller port) heads with a edelbrock RPM intake and a compcams XE264R cam. The AFR 165 heads had 396 hp @ 5800 RPM. Hope this helps. Back issues can be ordered I think through their web site. Don My 351 will be getting canfield 192 heads.
  22. I was crusing ebay and found this 2002 firebird. Lets see if the link works. Am I so out of it that I don't know the value of a car? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/ebayISAPI.dll?viewItem&Item=2439056989&category=6427
