  1. Aw, man. That is such a fine ride its a shame you need to sell it.
  2. Well it turns out I had more of an issue than I thought. As I stated earlier I started the car about once a week or so just to keep it fresh. But as fate would have it just as I was about to pull it into the garage for disassembly the damn thing wouldn't start. Maybe storing this Z28 under a tarp for several months wasn't such a good idea. At least that's the only reason I can figure what happened to the ignition. I ran the optispark test, it failed. I should have done more trouble shooting since it turns out the ignition was bad and believe it or not so was the coil wire! I think moisture from being under the tarp in the hot Georgia weather took it all out. I did not try putting the old MSD optispark back in after I found these two problems, figured since I bought the new optispark I might as well use it. Luckily I had another coil, wire and ignition module from a torn down '95 LET. But at least it start now and I can now pull the engine and tranny for my transplant
  3. Rotisserie, I don't need no stickin rotisserie. Ingenuity is the mother of invention!
  4. Yikes! That had to be a scary moment for sure. You're luck nothing caught fire. I watched my Sunbeam Tiger burn up the engine compartment after the fuel pump over pumped the carb, not a fun day. And no I did not have a fire extinguisher with me, I always carry one after that. For that wring loom stuff you might look at this. http://www.wiringproducts.com/?target=dept_90.html&gclid=CPfTlsrz2okCFRE9FQodIFd__Q
  5. I thought about that muffler too, but at 22" long its gonna be a tight fit. I ended up with dual "turbo" muffers ahead of the rear axel and dul tail pipes coming out at the stock location. Its loud but sounds pretty mean. I don't have the "X" pipe but plan on installing one diring the LT1 swap. http://www.dejavideo.net/280z8/280z8-sound.mp3
  6. That is a sweet exhaust setup, never knew they made oval pipe. Damn dude, those are some monster tires you have on the rear!
  7. ARGGG! Thanks that would have been great but of course I ordered one the other day, figures. I'm leaving for the Caribean on Thursday, it should be here when I get back. Hopefully that will get the engine started and I can start my swap soon.
  8. Thanks, thats what I was hoping, what a nightmare in plumbing that this is. No smog rule in Georgia on any car over 25 years old.
  9. Thanks. From what everything I've read you still have to change the cam that uses a longer dowel pin, I think it might be something to do with the water pump hook-up. Also wiring harness needs to change. Maybe Accel has some how made that necassary. Cool, the air pump is gone, I don't need to worry about meeting smog rules in Georgia.
  10. I was hoping you'd respond. Unforutatley Accel does not make a early 94 version or their Optispark. So its either shell out $500 for another or go stock GM for $288, think I'll go with the GM. My long term plans are to build up a 95 LT1 with some proformace stuff and at that point I'll probably go with the Accel. I still can not believe all the stuff I had to remove from this engine just to get to the optispark. I can see why they got rid that thing when the went to the LSxx engines.
  11. Congrats, I am so jealous. Too bad for the snow, let us know how the first test run goes.
  12. As I said the other day I think I have Optispark issues in my '94 Z28 donor car. I pulled a ton of stuff off this Camaro to get to the Optispark, OMG the engineers should be whipped for this design, LOL. As it turns out this car has a MSD ignition on it including the Optispark. There is a fitting on the driver's side bottom that has a hose attached, well what is left of a hose. It doesn't go anywhere and looks like it was either torn off or whoever put the Optispark on just used whatever he had on hand. There is no evidence of the rest of the hose. Does anyone know what this is supposed to be hooked to? I'm thinking it may be MSD's version of the vented Optispark? There is also a small hose on top that was hooked into the air inlet ducting. Also what is the pict below? It was located on the front bottom driver's side of the engine and hooked into both exhaust manifold shields and to a couple electrical connections. I'm assuming this is some emission stuff?

  14. I followed that thread and got the test instructions. I remember you passed the test anyway, so I guess the test isn't all that conclusive. I planned on replacing the optispark after I pulled the engine, it would be so much easier then.
  15. I think you are correct. Gonna run the tests tonight.
  16. After many weeks of pulling wire, adding insulation, wall and ceiling covering and painting the new garage is ready for inhabitation. I still want to treat the floor but other than that I'm almost ready to start my LT1/4L60E swap. So Sunday I decided to get the donor Z28 in position for disassembly. Do you think it would start….NO! I've started this thing at least every two weeks for several months no without issue but now it just spins with no attempt to start at all. Last night I tried spraying starter fluid straight into the throttle body but nothing, not even a stumble. Looks like I may have ignition problems. I guess I'll have to get some buddies to push this thing into the garage.
  17. Wow, its looking very wicked. We need more pictures for sure.
  18. Thanks, the cam part is what I thought. My long term plan is to build the '95 up in my spare time after I get all the install bugs sorted out with the '94 setup. Guess I'll just tune up the 94 opti for now.
  19. Are there any "tricks" to converting from a '94 to a '95 opti? I'm getting ready to convert my Gen1 to a '94 LT1 and plan on tuning up the opti before install anyway. I have a pieces-parts '95 LT1 that has a opti with new cap and rotor and thought I might as well use it if the sawp is fairly routine. Seems like I read somewhere about some dowl pins or something that was different.
  20. Very nice, tough to beat a red car with a big engine.
  21. Like others have said that is a very clean engine install. I really like the black engine bay next to the yellow body and engine trim. Great job.
  22. Here's my setup. They are off a Ponitac GrandAm
  23. I don't know about how it sounds with mufflers but my ears have still not recovered from shooting video 20 feet away from your car without them!
