  1. I was wondering if that was possible. With gas prices being what they are these day it seems like a good choice. Not sure how tough LPG fills would be to find in the states however.
  2. I tried looking up the VIN on my 1977 280Z on the internet but apparently some pre 1981 cars have less than 17 digits (mine = HLS30404431) and all the look up sites require 17 digits. What I would like to know is if there is a way to determine stock configuration (like rear gear ratio) from the VIN number. If not, is there any way to know for sure without removing the diff cover. Using those formulas won't work on my car since it’s a V8 conversion and the tach has not been calibrated for the V8 and I don't have access to a V8 tach.
  3. That is one impressive beast. Love the pict, looking forward to getting that one on video at SEZ 8.
  4. Very nice. At that burn-out rate you'll be buying new tires in no time, LOL.
  5. Very cool, sounds like you did your build right. Got any picts for us?
  6. Way to go Wayne. I think that car is a beautiful piece of work and it sounds like you're getting it dialed in. Looking forward to seeing it on the 1/4 mile in March.
  7. I agree but replacing one of those things isn't like pulling a distubutor. Personally I don't think GM thought that one through. I will certainly replace mine before I install my LT1.
  8. Yikes!! That is a scary thought. I had a mechanical oil pressure guage come apart in my Sunbean Tiger, what a mess but at least it didn't explode!
  9. Well that sucks. Typical though, its always about the money. The show would go from a grass routes sort of venue to yet another over paid professional event where regular people can't relate. Man I miss the 60s when you could play without being rich or connected.
  10. I keep watching the reruns hoping you'll win, LOL. It was so obvious that the Monte Carlo sandbagged the 4th race to get a favorable negotiation on the last run. Rick and Nate totally ripped you guys off. Too bad you had issues with the car so it couldn't perform like it should have.
  11. Glad to hear you got it running. Weird that you could have two unrelated problems at the same time (fuel pump and opti spark).
  12. Just watch Barrett/Jackson, there's a lot of people out there with money to throw away. There's something seriously wrong when someone spends a million bucks on a '69 Chevelle.
  13. Didn't notice that. Maybe a 2+2 thing?
  14. Would be interesting to know what the offer he rejected was. It all sounds impressive but for that money there are better rides. There looks like there's a ton of rust on the frame. And what's up with the AM/FM cassette? its 2006 dude, put in a decent sound system. The custom body panels are pretty cool, but I've never liked the 2+2, would not be my choice.
  15. LOL I heard that. Seems Speed and Spike get a lot of air time on my TV too.
  16. Totally agree, seems like everyone on that show anymore is a total dickhead. Still don't see why they don't use the tree to start and set handycaps. I guess then that bozo host couldn't get his air time! That 240SX rocked.
  17. Very cool. burnouts are addictive. Maybe you should order new tires now! Looking forward to the video.
  18. Thanks, I've talked to them. I already did the 4 caliper front and rear disc thing, should have changed the springs then....live and learn.
  19. Thanks Ryan, since you're local (Atlanta) I may be contacting you when I get parts and start swapping if I run into trouble. I'm about ready to take my car down for the LT1 swap but it would be nice to get this done first.
  20. Thanks, that clears up a lot. I was hoping to accomplishe thsi with springs. While I'm at it replacing the shocks only makes sense. Which tokico cartridges part number did you use?
  21. Thanks, one of the things I was unclear about was if the hats bolted on or needed welded.
  22. I have no idea how old they are, I've only had the car for 1 1/2 years. I have heard about that happening when new springs are installed.
  23. I've searched and read a ton of posts but still have no idea the best way to do this. I want to drop my car about 1 inch or so especially the front. I've read about changing the strut hats but really have no idea what that means. I also read about camber issues with lowering the front. AZ sells lowering springs that sound like they may be what I want but I'm still confused. I'm very new at Datsuns and have little or no experience altering suspensions. I am running a sbc engine in a '77 280Z. Wheels are 17x7 with 0 offset on 1 1/2" adapters and 215/50 tires and right now the suspension is stock with new urathane bushings. Opinions on how to do this without spending a fortune.
  24. I know several people that use the Battery Minder on their little used cars. bikes and boats and they all swear by them.
